DWAS officially passed Shallow as Lady Gaga's most streamed song on Spotify ! It's also becoming Bruno Mars most streamed song ever on Spotify in a few days https://x.com/gaga_latest/status/1957116662701867022?t=liwcux_deLFR-27kpIRL2Q&s=1919 points

I'm not saying Gaga is Meryl Streep but the way you guys made her sound like she hasn't done a remotely good job in a range of versatile and highly challenging roles is baffling to me and this is coming from her own fanbase. I've met people from the GP who are way less harsh15 points

one year after release, DWAS is still inside top 10 on Spotify Global and still inside top 5 on overall radio. a “streaming and radio poison” songstress did that11 points

why can't yall just be normal fans and just celebrate her success? she used to be streaming poison, now a 1 year old song has sky rocketed to the top yeah, she has better songs but lets be grateful she's not in the same pool as katy perry and others10 points

Love it or hate it (because some have their weird point of view, but let’s not focus on the negativity) Die With a Smile was released exactly one year from today; and is now her biggest hit ever, still charting in the Top 10 in Global Spotify. Lets celebrate 🎉10 points

If you make an album or a song and profit from a certain community, you definitely need to speak up about their issues, it’s not to be political, it’s to be a decent human being. If we focus on other things and not only about Palestine now. All these singers that did LGBTQ+ empowering songs when it was cool and then didn’t even say something about trans right in the last couple of months, they are all pieces of sh-t, and I can name a few queens and biggest artists of our generation.9 points

It really might just be the power of a combined fanbases. ASIB is a little different cuz 1.it's a movie and 2. Bradley is not like other collaborators where they were a known music artist before Gaga. I do not think it can be evaluated like other collabs But for ROM was helped a lot by arianators and even sour candy, Black pink stans did a lot in terms of the streams for that song. A lot of people are casual monsters, so they need the allure of a collab to make them really stream gaga.9 points

It honestly could be that the GP isn’t super into undiluted Gaga, so they like having someone to kind of balance out her more eccentric tendencies?9 points

Maybe focus more on real life than a game? I still remember that bizarre Pokémon game PETA released.9 points

Joanne was released closer to The Fame than to MAYHEM. So yeah, if you cut her career in two, Joanne belongs to the beginning. You’re welcome.8 points

There's a couple of factors that would come into play. Firstly, its worth noting that a majority of her collabs are singles (Just Dance, Telephone, Rain On Me, Die With A Smile, Shallow, you get the picture). A song being pushed as a single will already in itself bolster the song's popularity and more people will know about it as a result of it being promoted. Secondly, as someone already said before me, duets/collabs will tend to have push from both respective fanbases, which is even more evident when it's two pop queens (ROM & Telephone). Having an a-list pop star release a single will already be successful on its own. Add a second a-list pop star? It'll get even more traction. Thirdly, and this is more arguable and opinion based, but, a majority of her collabs are easier to digest and listen to. This will draw in an audience consisting of many people of all ages, backgrounds, etc. Songs like Shallow, DWAS & ROM for example, are easily digestible to the GP in comparison to other songs where Ga's eccentricity is in the forefront.8 points

cover yes, contents no, as many people spilled their hearts privately to gaga and they didn't give us consent to post their letters publicly. So yes you'll see the cover art, I commissioned Anton to design them for us and they are BEAUTIFUL6 points

Y’all are talking about her like she’s Gal Gadot, be serious lmao. I see the critiques about it being too muggy/hamfisted/theatrical/stilted and while I don’t entirely disagree, we can’t be acting like she has no skill, presence, nuance etc. If anything, I think she’s maybe just one or two degrees off from feeling completely settled in some of the roles which is what separates a very good actress from a great actress. IMO, feels like y’all are kind of crucifying her for not being the world’s greatest actress when, in the grand scheme of things, she is actually very good.6 points

Here's my perspective as an actor / director. What people don't seem to understand is that a performance is shaped by the direction. Yes, Gaga brings a lot of her own ideas to the table but her role is to be a blank canvas. The reason she might seem «forced» probably has to do with the fact the she was not directed well. AHS was a camp show with a terrible script, and it's probably made very fast with lots of last minute changes, she did her best with it and delivered a strong memorable character. Gucci was also camp but it's very clear that Scott had no idea what partition he wanted every one to be on. Every actor was acting in a different movie, and that does not happen because they are bad at their jobs, it happens because the direction was rushed. That brings me to ASIB, which to me is by far her best work. It's very clear here that she felt comfortable and supported with Bradley. It was her first movie gig and Bradley's first time directing so of course it's not perfect, but to me she is brilliant and fully commited. Her eyes portrait a lot of emotion and she does not overdo it (ex: the scene where she visits Jackson in Rehab). The «cringe» you feel might be because the direction was not super clear therefore it feels uncomfortable, but at all times Gaga and Bradley were together, fully commited and free. I think Gaga shows tremendous potential as an actress. You can tell she gets it. She feels it in her bones and that's not something you can fake. Now, what I want to see from her is a female directed movie by an established director like Jane Campion. She has everything it takes to be mindblowing, I just think she need to choose her next projects carefuly.6 points
