  1. Ngl the sexual puritanism of Gen Z is wild to me lmao. I’m not saying that the image isn’t provocative, but to claim that engaging with dom/sub gender-based dynamics in pop imagery is intrinsically misogynistic is definitely a huge stretch. But, again, the Discourse™️ is what Sabrina wanted and Discourse™️ she shall get!

  4. Ugh... A bit unrelated, but I got laid off yesterday after an amazing weekend with chosen family friends at world pride in DC. I don't post a lot on GGD, but if I do, it's usually on this thread. Coming back to here and this site in general just distracts me from the stressful times in life I've had since I was a member in 2011 as a teenager. Just wanted to thank everyone on here...

  5. Degrading? Sis, I love when my hair is used as a handle at this point I'm keeping it long so the man can wrap it around his hand and get a good grip They're not even puritan, they just WANT to be offended 'cause they grew up in an age where you get the most attention by being a victim or upset. They're insecure and lonely. She could have made the album cover her eating a sandwich and they would have said "Really? Right in front of the millions of people who are food insecure?!"

  6. i just hope that gaga builds on her momentum next year and actually releases a new album in may-june. mayhem got people talking, but we obviously need more exposure. there is no point in big hiatuses nowadays, be like taylor and release again and again, also release a "from the vault" album along with some reimagined rerecordings. we literally saw the IMMENSE boost her catalogue received thanks to mayhem, all she needs to do is release more. no need for any rebranding, just "more of the same", she already has like 6 different genres on mayhem, it wouldn't become boring. this would boost her sales, streaming numbers and her relevance. heck, if she ever gets overexposed again, she can always release perfect celebrity as a "**** you" to the media and make a rock album in that vein, that would turn the tables in her favor immediately my ideal timeline (that will NEVER happen) would be like: hbdwuw: last radio single before july zombieboy video with wednesday s2 GOE (& VIY for the fans) MV sometime before the next year, perhaps with deluxe LG8 lead in jan/feb, no big promo LG8 second single(the one where they always put the most effort) in april/may, to make it a summer hit LG8 in june, happy pride month now DANCE YOU *******S!

  12. I’ve seen massive hate for it. And it’s understandable. I know that she’s not pandering to men and she’ll say something much more intricate through her music, but the execution of the artwork is very tone deaf and you can’t convince me otherwise. Satire that leans too much on the very thing it is trying to criticize to the point it becomes it…just doesn’t work as satire anymore lol. This has turned into an aesthetic more so than a critique. And what rubs me the wrong way is that her team obviously knew this would generate discourse and they are using that to an advantage, so it’s like using woman degradation (and this isn’t a consensual kink power dynamic play, this is very clearly a demonstration of abuse), as a marketing strategy, which in my book and as a marketing major myself cannot possibly excuse. It irks me that people are like “oh ya’ll asked for a provocative pop star”, “Ya’ll would not tolerate Madonna’s Sex book” without understanding the implications of careless communication practices like this. Stan twitter might take the time of day to look past the cover and understand the lyrics, but the GP? The Incels? They’ll just look at Sabrina’s cover and be like “yes women are dogs”. Which again, her team definitely knew, and they still went along with it.

  14. Abracadabra proves that ARTPOP was truly ahed of it’s time. It has so much ARTPOP vibes to it. AND SO THIS MASSIVE HIT PROVES THE GP IS READY FOR ACT ii!!!!!! People love the EDM / trance/ techno gaga. Judas, Hello? Gaga felt she was not done with a certain sound from mayhem ( Perfect Celebrity I think she was talking about being hard hitting and something to revisit, but it could also be Abracadabra, Disease, Can’t stop the high) Mix that into Edm, trance, techno and industrial and we will have her magnum opus LG8

  17. Heavy on the insecure and lonely part. I feel like so many of them, also, have just become insanely neurotic because of online mental health speak and feel the need to pathologize everything (everything’s a trauma response or undiagnosed autism or ADHD) to the point that nothing can exist in a grey area, everything has to be clearly, nearly, and correctly defined otherwise is it’s wrong in someway (and so ambiguous self-objectification and/or satire of misogyny? That’s a no-no). Generational OCD teas.

  22. The title isn't that bad but when paired with the image, which I can't believe is actually the album cover, is just distasteful. Look, I'm all for fun, sexy art. But there's ways to do it that don't make an entire group of people uncomfortable. There's ways she could've done this to be provocative but not making it offensive. A close-up of her wearing a fetish collar attached to a tightened leash from an unseen source, for example. Very provocative but is hotter for not showing who's holding the leash. Provocative enough to walk that fine line between sexy and glamourising abuse. But this is just...as a woman, it hurts to see this. I'm tired of seeing this kinda imagery of us. The world should be further along in where women are right now but instead, the world is treating women like objects more than ever. Everywhere I look, I see it. And for the most part, it's men doing it to us. But when women are sexualising themselves in these concerning ways, it just makes you give up hope. She will hopefully do alternative covers as it's a shame for any of her fans who want to support her music but are grossed out by the cover and don't want that on their display case. We can enjoy what we want behind closed doors. But hair pulling is a very niche interest. I don't know how that can be done without being sore. Most of the concern for this image is coming from women and for good reason. We don't want this kind of thing normalised. Men expect us to do so much stuff we're not comfortable with and images like this sends the message that this is what all girls are into, along with all the other much more extreme imagery. Acting out fantasises in public can look abusive in some cases and this is a classic example of it. Maybe to you it isn't. But please respect the views of women who think it is. Images like this affect us deeply. I'm shocked you say that you don't find it sexual, you don't have to be naked to be sexual. And you don't think he's grasping her hair tightly? All I can focus on is how tight a grip he has, his hand looks almost red with how tightly he's holding it. And I have seen Madonna's Sex book. Much more extreme, of course, though some images were very artistic. That one of her hitchhiking naked is such an iconic image. But any images where women are subjugated and degraded are tough to view. That kind of thing is best kept private as it's extremely jarring for onlookers and people with negative views of women can take this stuff as a green light. I'm totally lost on the ironic nature that so many people are saying. Can you please point out the ironic and tongue in cheek meaning? Respectfully, this is not what message is sent to me as a woman. She doesn't need to be crying with her mascara running for it to be a concerning image. It's what's the man's doing and the menacing way we only see his lower half. This exact image exists in p*rn that isn't trying to be ironic. Just because a woman is smiling or laughing doesn't mean she isn't being abused. Women have been putting on a brave face since the beginning of time and smiling through our pain just to keep safe. I can't tell you how many times I've smiled and laughed around a man who was making me uncomfortable while my eyes were looking for an exit route. I know that's heavy but it's the truth. What you see as a man is naturally quite different as you see an attractive, smiling woman and associate this with positivity and fun sexuality. But for women, it has a very different meaning. This is nothing to do with conservativism or the alt right. Women are just tired of seeing offensive imagery of us that portrays us as objects to be used. It has real world impact on us. We understand when any other oppressed group speaks up about the things that offends them. We understand that if we're not part of this group, we should tell these people their thoughts are valid, listen, understand, empathise. But when it's women? We're over-reacting. One of the most shocking sexual abuse trials is going on right now, Andrew Tate is still idolised, men are adopting the phrase "your body, my choice," women are engaging in horrific sex stunts online, women are still as likely to be killed by their partner as they were 50 years ago. So, images as simple as these may seem small fry in comparison but they have a "drip drip" effect that adds up to a horrifying picture. It doesn't make us sensitive or conservative to want the best for women.

  24. I have mixed feelings because on one hand, I understand where the criticism is coming from, but on the other hand, I think we need to let more artists create the art they want. I don't like the idea of policing art, even if you fundamentally disagree with it. You can vehemently dislike it, that's fine, but I think when we start policing how artists express themselves and what they want to create, it defeats the purpose of art itself. Also...this isn't new for Sabrina...Weren't all these same people complaining about her being "oversexualized" defend her a few months ago when people were criticizing her for being "oversexualized" during her concert shows?? I don't get why it's a problem now when her brand has been this way for the past year.

  26. Nominations for the 2026 GRAMMYs will be unveiled on November 7th later this year. The ceremony takes place on February 1st, 2026. GRAMMY AWARD FIELD AND CATEGORY UPDATES • BEST ALBUM COVER AN ART DIRECTOR’S AWARD - FOR ALBUMS ONLY Nominees/statuettes awarded to Art Director(s). This Category recognizes excellence in cover art for albums of recordings in any genre of music, released for the first time during the eligibility year (even if recordings were previously released). The elements judged in this Category include the creativity, design, illustration, photography, and/or graphic art of the Album Cover. The Album Cover must be predominantly new: If the album cover art has been previously released, or the recording is being reissued with only minimal new cover art, is not eligible. Eligible Album Covers can be from digital-only or streaming-only full-length releases as well as albums that have physical configurations. Submission of an Album Cover in this Category would not disqualify the physical package of the same release from being submitted in Best Recording Package. Eligible entries for this category require a high-resolution digital file of the album cover be uploaded with the entry. • General Field Eligibility for Best New Artist has been expanded to include artists who have been previously nominated in Album Of The Year, but whose contributions fell below the current 20 percent playing time threshold. This update allows acts who were credited as featured artists on projects that were GRAMMY nominated for Album Of The Year in a previous awards cycle to be eligible for Best New Artist consideration. • Country Field The existing Best Country Album Category has been renamed Best Contemporary Country Album, and a new Category, Best Traditional Country Album, has been added. • Best Recording Package and Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package have been combined into one Category called Best Recording Package.

  37. people are absolutely insane. the sterile swiftification of pop music is absolutely bizarre to me like how does this cover create that reaction in young people. this is just conservative nonsense being brainwashed into a younger generation who have no social skills in the real world after growing up on social media and twitter hot takes i really hate the mental link that a woman being sexual outside the strict conservative ideals = degrading. i will never understand why sexuality, desires, and sex is viewed as a negative, especially for women
