https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/best-albums-2025-1235342974/lady-gaga-mayhem-1235343021/ Rolling Stone calls Lady Gaga’s MAYHEM “the year’s strongest pop release yet” and includes it in their best albums of 2025 (so far) list: “In the lead-up to Lady Gaga’s latest album, MAYHEM, there was a lot of talk about Gaga returning to her roots. For Little Monsters, it’s been too long. MAYHEM is the type of fan service that doesn’t dilute the artist herself. Gaga feels like her most authentic self from start to finish on this album: There’s no characters, concepts, or aesthetic impulses overshadowing the songs. Instead, she’s made one of her most sonically challenging and uniform albums yet: a mix of Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, Prince and her Fame Monster-era self, rolled into the year’s strongest pop release yet.”22 points

the fact that Judas is OUTLASTING brand new lead singles from “streaming giants” is absolutely insane to me. she has residency in the top 200 for like a month now, while people’s lead singles with radio deal and playlist payola LEAVE the chart immediately after debuting.11 points

Hopefully there's a Fergaissance on the horizon. They need her. Don’t Phunk With My Heart, Pump It, Let’s Get It Started, Dum Diddley, Hey Mama, Shut Up, My Humps, Where Is The Love… when they were good, they were soooo good.10 points

Mayhem is truly one of the most endearing yet stratospheric releases by an MPG, capturing everything that made the artist a living legend, incorporating every key inspiration in their creative life, yet making it incredibly forward-facing, fresh and wholesome. It's a gift that will keep on giving. I'm so very proud of Gaga and I cannot wait to see all the amazing things she will do next. It truly feels like a new beginning8 points

Liddos~~ Recently, I saw that you guys were predicting what the next single from Mayhem should be, and I wanted to share some thoughts on that. After the impact of Abracadabra, I really think this era needs at least two more singles. From what I’ve seen, the contenders seem to be Vanish Into You, How Bad Do U Want Me, and maybe Garden of Eden. However, you should take note that the music landscape is shifting. Since 2024, most of the songs that have had long-lasting success on the charts tend to have slower tempos, simpler melodies, and emotional, relatable lyrics. These are performing better than the louder, more experimental tracks—especially on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. That said, Abracadabra is actually doing great despite going against that trend, which makes it all the more impressive. After the release of Abracadabra, which truly showcases Gaga’s signature eccentric, experimental side, many fans (including myself) are wondering: What’s next? What should be the next single off Mayhem? I’d like to throw in my two cents and say: “How Bad Do U Want Me” is the strongest candidate for the next single, especially right now. Here’s why: 🌍 Global Streaming Trends Have Shifted Since around 2024, we’ve seen a noticeable shift in what kind of music dominates global charts. Take a look at Die With a Smile, Bird of a Feather, and Ordinary. They’re about love, longing, vulnerability — and they’ve managed to stay on top of international charts for weeks or even months. This shows that listeners (especially casual ones) are leaning toward songs that are easy to stream, easy to replay, and easy to feel connected to. “How Bad Do U Want Me” Fits the Trend Perfectly This track might not scream “classic Gaga” to some, but that’s exactly what makes it special. It also has huge potential in the Asian markets, where ballads and gentle love songs have always performed well. Just look at the streaming numbers from Southeast Asia for similar songs — Die With a Smile became an unexpected smash in these regions. ☀️ Potential Summer Hit or Slow-Burn Chart Climber Even if How Bad Do U Want Me doesn’t hit #1 overnight, it could be a slow-burn success, staying on the charts for a long time. Its streaming-friendly structure, emotional appeal, and broad reach could make it one of the standout tracks this summer — and a great move to balance the chaos of Abracadabra with something more introspective. Final Thought Choosing How Bad Do U Want Me as the next single isn’t playing it safe — it’s playing it smart. Gaga has always known how to read the room, and this could be her way of connecting with a broader audience again without compromising artistry.7 points

So! I was just listening to Mayhem for the first time (today, its 6:48am) on my way to the gym. By the point I reached GoE I thought "huh, this woman is really out there, sonically and creatively" and for a second it took me back to a time where this was widely known and accepted that „Gaga isn't for the masses, shes weird, shes out there, shes for the gays" and then I wondered even more: How much of this thinking is still left in people today? I know I was low-key bullied back in school for liking Gaga, she is still one of very few pop-girlies who's vocal about the queer and especially trans-community and so on, so I can only imagine the majority in a rightwing county as the US just doesn't fvck with her - not like other pop stars who still portray a sense of Americana where you can apply a certain level of delusion, so you're able to stream their music and vote for a fascist. What do you think? Is there still an „ick-factor" to Gaga or did she win people over once she was critically acclaimed, have times just changed and did people justgot used to her? Cause boy oh boy, there still isn't anyone out there who even does remotely what Gaga and her team are doing. ANYWHO! happy thursday <36 points

Billboard: Born This Way is the greatest LGBTQ+ anthem of all time! Inspired by the empowering music of the ‘90s, Gaga told Billboard that she wanted to create a “freedom record” that didn’t beat around the bush: “I want to write my this-is-who-the-f–k-I-am anthem, but I don’t want it to be hidden in poetic wizardry and metaphors.” She followed through, with lyrics like, “No matter gay, straight or bi / Lesbian, transgendered life / I’m on the right track, baby / I was born to survive.” Fans responded positively, as the song debuted at No.1 on the Hot 100 and remained there for six weeks. sis she gleefully tramples over the dignity of trans people when she purposefully misgenders them, it's like she enjoys denying them the dignity they ask for. she doesn't have to agree and is allowed her own opinions and I support a queen who has the BALLS, no pun intended, to do that. however contentious her position. but she doesn't argue in good faith. that should be everybody's dividing line.5 points

It'll still boost the album, even if the single doesn't chart/chart well. Look at 911 and John Wayne streams for instance, compared to the other album tracks from those albums. They both have much higher streams than the other songs, even though they were 'half' singles. On another note, MAYHEM is gonna look so good at the end of the year - Disease, Debra, GOE, VIY, HBDUWM, and DWAS will all 'hopefully' have 100m+ streams5 points
