She's like that secretly homophobic person who realizes that 99% of the people in the room support LGBT rights, so she does the same thing just to fit in

I didn't fully dig into this fully yet, but there's clearly something going on with certain words and metaphors in the lyrics. I mean, Don’t Call Tonight definitely sounds like a song where Stefani is begging Gaga not to manifest. The theme of derealisation is super important in this album, especially in Perfect Celebrity. She says “tomorrow you’ll desert me” as if Stefani will take back control of her body the next day. The word “zone” might refer to the club that she mentions a lot. In the song, you can hear that there are sometimes two layered voices—Gaga and Stefani. The term “Gothic Dreams” (and “daymare”/“nightmare”), which Gaga used a lot to define the album, might suggest that Gaga/Stefani is sleeping. Like in Disease, where she says: “You’re so tortured when you sleep, plagued with all your memories.” I think it’s literally her most cinematic album, but we have to dig into it.

Every single non Gaga fan I know who hears it, instantly loves it. Like my older sister can't get enough of it and she flat out hates Gaga. My partner who only listens to soft rock like The Eagles (puke) had me put on on his playlist. My bestie who like Gaga (but doesn't love her) is highkey obsessed with it. If the song is actually a single and is released the right way? With the right video? It could smash - even though monsters might hate it.

Imo I think Gaga’s at her best when writing music that operates on multiple levels and I think that’s how MAYHEM works: the songs are fairly straightforward and accessible, but can also have added layers of meaning should you dig into them.

“MAYHEM” remains at #6 on the French Albums Chart (SNEP) in its 5th week, moving 4,366 units (46,590 total).

Nothing's wrong with the movie, it's the audience. 90% of the negative critics I see completely miss the point of the movie or focus on things that aren't even bad. Does the movie challenge your expectations and leave you betrayed at the end? Yes, and that's what makes it amazing! It always takes a bit to digest works like this, but you come to terms with it eventually. As for the movie not sticking to a genre, I don't know what to say except to watch more movies and broaden your cinematographic culture. There are many more points that I've read and could address. This movie personally touched me and I could talk about it all day. I already watched it 3 times and keep discovering things everytime I watch

It shouldn't have been a musical. That's it tbh. It's a good movie, it's not a good musical. Lee's character works as a fantastic foil to Arthur's and it turns the usual "abusive Joker and Harley with total Stockholm syndrome" on its head by making Harley the manipulative liar and "Joker" the mentally ill mark played for a fool. Had they leaned into that and maybe cut the trial to just half of the movie and gave the other half to a plot where Lee was slowly revealed as a liar pulling Arthur's strings until he unravels, ends up back in prison, and gets killed by someone who's criminally demented enough to be the Joker that Lee actually wanted.

Good aim.

HBDUWM being successful, especially radio-wise, will elongate the era, which is very important if we want more singles. It’s not my first choice, but it’s a solid, well produced, catchy song, I’m sure it will be a lasting top 10 hit all around the world with no promo. Afterwards, GOE, Zombieboy or VIY could be the next single for the fall. I think everything will be more apparent after the Coachella performance and new interest in songs.
