  1. Mayhem is a lot like The Fame in that no matter what she releases (single wise) there will always be other options that would also fit Had she released it then, this thread would probably say "Disease/Abracadabra should have been released last Halloween" That's a good thing though it means the album is full of quality tracks that could make sense commercially

  3. It would’ve felt weak. Disease, though not radio friendly, is a monster. It stated, loud and clear, that Gaga was not coming to play. And she cleary didn’t!!

  14. I think Disease was the right choice. It created a good amount of hype since the sound was so "out there" for her. It was risky enough to make waves, it was heavy enough for LMs to get excited and her vocal performance is stellar. Zombieboy would have been one of the safest choices she and her team could have made - and i'm so happy she ain't a safe queen

  15. I think that ultimately DWAS was always intended to make its way onto gaga's album. I think that its strange that it wasn't marketed as the first single. But If you check on spotify, it was released through interscope. Its also on her youtube channel. Watt is a producer and writer. All that points towards DWAS obviously being intended for MAYHEM yet she did not call it a lead single. It is strange but it deserves to be on the album. It ultimately fits nicely as the closer too.

  18. Woah, everybody doing films for their albums - The Weeknd, Ariana, Miley... I'll never get over the fact that Gaga, the artist that made the music video a concept, a story, a visual to look forward to for our generation, didn't claim her crown by releasing a visual album.

  20. Okay, but then with your logic, she also has more artistic integrity than half the other albums because she only had ONE collab, while many others have numerous collabs to boost numbers. It's just silly to make that argument because it's not like she is the only artist that has access to collabs. There are tons of artists that collab and don't make waves. And I mean, the song legitimately fits. The album is a set of gothic dreams, a night out. And near the end, we wind down to a place where she is happy and content. She literally "woke up from a dream" and she can now die with a smile. It's poetry folks, and also good marketing. Let's not split hairs here

  23. I decided to do some... investigating regarding radio today. Abracadabra sits at 51 on the overall radio chart. Here is the interesting part... Abracadabra has been on the charts for 34 days. There is only one other song in the top 50 of overall radio that has been charting for less than 40 days. Abra is actually doing relatively well on radio when we take this into consideration. Abra is having a slow but steady increase. Every single song grows slowly on US radio these days. We should be thankful that callouts for this song are decent, thats paves the way for debby having a future on radio. So everyone hold your horses.

  26. Mayhem. It's not even remotely close I still remember my first listen with Chromatica and thinking "...this doesn't feel like a Gaga album, what gives..." Then the mutilated final version of Free Woman put me off to every other song after it they gutted that poor thing and stripped it of everything that made it sound unique and alive. The final version is so synthetic. And that's how I'd describe the whole album: synthetic. It feels like a clean room. Like it was given all the space to be born but fills only a few inches of it. An amalgamation of Bloodpop's stale sample packs and minimalist style invading what were otherwise good ideas. She says the words but the sounds don't carry any emotion at all. Meanwhile, Mayhem actually has a full sound. One stadium shaker after the next. I wanna learn more about how they created it 'cause that bit that I caught where Gaga explained that they played a bass into a program and mutated it into a synth is just THAT is how you make music innovation, fingers to strings and sticks to a drum set, not copy+pasting a sound file 40 times and calling it a beat

  28. I don't get why they didn't introduce us to the album with the dark pop we all wanted may not be perfect for radio but it seems like a huge miss to not give the song it's moment and a cool MV to introduce he era?

  32. I've been saying this since the day it was announced DWAS was on the record. It was a brilliant move - whether you like the song or not. Whether it was intended for the album or not. Mayhem will now outsell every album of hers except TF, TFM and BTW. Easily. And, more importantly, she gave us a KILLER album of insanely great songs. The charts and the arts? Well, both boxes checked. This is also means her next album will most likely have a big budget, since Mayhem is a guaranteed money maker, and hopefully she can deliver another fantastic set of songs when the time comes. And, yes, I hope one of those songs is as big as DWAS, too - for all the reasons I already listed. And, yes, if it was to be that big it will probably have to be another ballad. So then we can do it all over again! (Thankfully I LOVE her ballads, including DWAS. So it's win/win for me.)

  34. It's def going to sit in the top 25-40 of Billboard if radio continues to increase. Radio is the only reason Bed Chem by Sabrina has been charting in the top 40 because its streams and sales are pretty much nonexistent.

  35. US Pop Radio 12 (=) Abracadabra Spins: 6779 (+72) Audience: 14.393 (-0.007) US HAC Radio 16 (=) Abracadabra Spins: 1655 (+61) Audience: 3.672 (+0.14) Pop spins are still very much positive. Past week spincrease is on par with a lot of other newer tracks tbh. We just need bigger stations like discussed in here yesterday. HAC update is kind of a slay tbh, as @lastpopicon posted with its recent spike in station adds, HAC is surging a bit rn. This will help hugely on overall radio and could make AC eventually pick it up a bit

  40. Anyone saying Abra was a risky song needs to be checked. The songs DNA is literally comprised of Gaga’s biggest hits. the issue is the ageism and mysigony of radio and has no bearing on the song. Nobody wants to admit it but that’s the truth.

  41. One thing I'm sure of is that Beyoncé will 100% be here for a Telephone sequel knowing Gaga gave her longevity with the first collab. Which she totally failed getting from 'hits' like Cuff It, Texas and Break My Soul. And none of her collabs since Telephone really manage to hit big... Concerning DWAS, nobody outside the stan Twitter actually cares she added it to MAYHEM. It's a MAYHEM song and will remain it. Anyone not handling it, well stay pressed.

  45. I think they should give time for Abra to gain on radio and get a nice boost from Coachella and then push Vanish Into You as the next single mid-late April time. It’s a classic and if she promotes it right, I don’t she why it couldn’t be another top 20 hit for her. She can’t not let this be a single!! HBDUWM clearly has the attention of the locals so why not release it as a summer anthem (July/August time) and then release Zombieboy in time for Halloween and knab another Halloween classic for her. Both could become moderate hits for her if she/her team play her cards right. The love for both tracks is clearly there, especially given the Zombieboy hype on TikTok. If she wants to milk the era dry, I don’t see why she couldn’t release Shadow of a Man (ft. Janet Jackson) or Garden of Eden (ft. The Weeknd) in January 2026 and perform it at the Grammys. That would be epic and the feature would draw attention to a new version but I understand how delusional this all is.

  46. I’m still waiting for more interviews with Andrew, Cirkut or Gaga about the creation of the entire album. It would make my year if she does a documentary like Five Foot Two and show what they were doing like they did with Joanne. That Rolling Stone one when she explains Disease instrumental and vocals is everything. We NEED more of that!!
