  1. Lady Gaga praises Gesaffelstein and their work together on “Killah”: “Gesaffelstein is very, very talented. He's very specific. I loved working on that record with him. It's just so different for me. And I think there's areas of Mayhem that are the tip of the iceberg of where I might even go next. That was some of the joy of making the album was going like, ‘oh, I'm not done with this.’” https://x.com/gagadaily/status/1899989309291135336?t=1Znx-VyVCdfaW3Ku9a4VnQ&s=19

  2. Now don't y'all get your hopes up for a second album or something big, she probably means she isn't finished with this sound.

  4. The thing about Monsters is that you cage Gaga to do something that will quench your dark concepts into life. It's not valid to assume "most fans like dark Gaga", as you are basing with self-influenced bias. Gaga is not limited to dark pop and edgy style. She is a chameleon in music. As long as she is happy, then let her be. We got Abracadabra, Diesease, Shadow of a Man as the "Gaga" you want. Don't be too greedy with your desires to control Gaga's choices just to quench your art direction preferences. I think Gaga is happy, and that's what matters. And oh let other people discover her music, music is for all not just limited to stans.

  5. I think we should avoid intruding parasocially into Gaga's relationship like we're Swifties. Mind you, LG7 will never have existed without Michael. Killah, for example, is Gaga's favorite song in the album. And that's not a grunge song at all. If anything, Michael's suggestion allowed Gaga to find what type of music she enjoyed the most. How Bad Do U Want Me is performing better than Perfect Celebrity. I don't think Gaga should only be commercially focused, but there are certainly big fans of the song. Even Bowen and Matt are obsessed with the song, and that's why Gaga brought it up in the podcast.

  6. I haven’t had a chance to read it thoroughly yet, just skimmed through it. I’m really impressed that Mayhem/Gaga is finally being fully embraced by critics and recognized as a vital creative force. It’s such a refreshing change, especially considering all the snobbery she had to deal with in the first half of her career. If she follows up Mayhem with an even bolder, yet equally powerful album, I think the next few years will be a thrilling ride, as she’s finally shown people what she’s truly capable of. https://www.newyorker.com/culture/pop-music/mayhem-reviewed-lady-gagas-return-to-form

  9. I think some fans really need to touch grass. 1. I understand this is a Gaga forum and obviously everyone is free to say whatever they want but some of you really need to learn how to express opinions and criticism Being blunt and unfiltered is really not it and when people call you out, victimising yourself is just not gonna work. The reason why its important to choose your words wisely and yet express what you really want is to avoid unnecessary insults, drama and just generally tasteless comments that makes the internet a cesspit. Instead, you can have deep constructive conversations if you are skillful with it and say things with respect. 2. getting deep into the parasocial dynamics and idolizing people like Gaga is really unhealthy and I think we should collectively call out people who keep dissecting her personal relationships. In a respectful way ofcourse. her private life is non of our business and whatever she is sharing with us is a privilege to have. Any speculation beyond is just that. Speculation. Be happy for her. After years of abusive and toxic men surrounding her she genuinely feels renewed and secure! Lets celebrate that instead of reading into it more than what is there. 3. i have to mention and im sorry but the whole expectations and hyper focus on sales, streams is really doing my head in. It feels similar to gambling addiction. Its giving NPC matrix vibes. Ofcourse good reviews and positive feedback is nice to have and can make us proud as fans but come on. Music shouldnt be about what the GP thinks, who cares about the general public opinions? Some people have no clue about music or just anything in general. Why do some people want the approval of phantoms and murky groups of people they dont even know or just pass by on the street? anyway as a closer, i think collectively as fans we could do better but im also gery happy to see all the praise and positive constructive threads on GGD recently! It sparked a new found joy in me of being a little monster since the beginning so thank you for that!

  11. The fact that people are trying to dissect her relationship and borderline thinking that Michael is a manipulative partner because y’all simply didn’t like the direction of the album is crazy MAYHEM is her best album imo and I’m more than happy with what we got.

  16. I think it was good advice from him. imagine abracadabra, disease, lovedrug, and shadow not existing as they are bc every song had to fit one specific sound I like when she said she didn’t try to give her music an outfit this time. We ended up with a classic Gaga album that incorporates all of her sounds at once

  17. If you think about it, her team and Interscope Records are comfortable where Gaga as a brand is. The truth is promoting a song and getting it to chart high these days requires a LOT of money. Billboards, performances, radio deals, interviews, brand activations, Fan events, etc. And most of that money wont return based on a #1 song alone. A song like Die With A Smile, with the average pay rate per stream, has only generated about 7.2 Million dollars from Spotify and maybe a bit more off other streaming platforms. That is a fraction of the cost it takes to pull out all that promo. Before streaming, this song would have generated over 20 million alone so it made sense to push it cause the profit margins were a lot more, and 20 - 30 Million is a comfortable budget for big popstars. But now Record labels don't get that kind of money from a single anymore. Abra has sold about 500k equivalent units in the US, and has about 180M on Spotify, I'm only guessing numbers, but this song is barely pulling in 1M dollars in profit. That money would be all spent in further radio deals and physical sales if they tried, meaning there would not be a profit off of this single If they chased the chart position. Imagine paying 1M more to get abra to a TOP 10, and for it to only get like 200k in profit from that boost. It just doesn't make sense If we are talking money, and that's with the risk that the song does not reach a decent peak. The only real value that a high chart position gives the artist is prestige and status. It might influence the sentiment around them, but monetarily speaking, It doesn't actually add much to the Record label. Given this era already has a hit with DWAS, and will be a #1 album, I'm betting my money on Interscope deciding that's enough for them and will now concentrate on the live shows. I mean, The Chromatica ball grossed over 112M. Thats over 5.6M per show. She easily recovers the marketing costs and production costs with only touring. We all want to see Gaga high on the charts, but the people running the show care more about their own profit, and chasing the charts would mean they get less of that. Also, Gaga's image is the healthiest it has been in years, so its not imperative to get a #1 hit to "clean her image". If anything I feel Mayhem on its own is getting her way much more praise through reviews and producers really loving the record. They were able to feed into Gaga's positive perception without much money, so the chart run just really isn't adding that much value, all things considered. It can be frustrating for us chartsters, but teh truth is we are the only ones getting a kick out of the #1 single. We just use it as bragging rights to fight other stans, when everyone that is actually being affected by a songs performance (producers, record lables, gaga), don't really benefit from it being high or low. As long as streaming exists, touring is where the money is for them.

  22. Lady Gaga will be honored with the 2025 iHeartRadio Innovator Award. No mention of performance and she's not on the performers list atm. She has 2 Coachella sets on early April, 2 Mexico shows late April, Copacabana in early May, and 4 more shows on Singapore late May. Summary: 8 live shows in 2 months. She will have to rehearse and work hard for these 2 months, we shouldn't expect much more tv promo/interviews, she already did so much this era, now she will focus on her live shows, and Coachella and Copacabana are livestreamed

  30. Yesterday was a really exciting day for NIN fans who love Gaga…the fact she talked about meeting Trent multiple times (seemingly on good terms), and conveniently releasing the prerecorded video of her meeting the contest winners while wearing a NIN sweater the same day as the interview. The cherry on top was Trent himself liking an Instagram post reporting how she “blacks out” every time she’s in “his presence”. For context, this is Trent’s personal account he uses, not the NIN account, and he’s kind of not a huge social media guy. Most of the users in the NIN subreddit are also really receptive to this idea and welcome it. Other things are obviously the NIN influence on Mayhem (as a huge fan of all of Trent’s work, I heard the influence in Disease, Garden of Eden (also NINE INCH HEELS!), Perfect Celebrity, Can’t Stop the High, Killah), Gaga radio having 3 NIN songs, her stylist(?)(I forgot who) sharing a photoshoot of her last year on insta stories using Closer as the bg music, and coincidentally, the creative team behind Mayhem visuals are also working with NIN, the latest work being the tour promotion. We knew for many years she was a fan based on her MySpace, but her talking even briefly about it AND wearing the sweater has made me super giddy! I really hope a collaboration of some kind is in the works or might come to fruition. A remixed song, new songs for a deluxe/EP to Mayhem, anything really. Personally would love Trent’s hand industrial-izing one of the Mayhem songs that don’t go as edgy as Disease; maybe Killah or Zombieboy. So am I peak delulu right now, is anyone else hoping for this, and what do you think the odds could be? How do we make this happen!? 😂😭

Was thinking about how, at 16 track, the deluxe version of MAYHEM fits perfectly into the vinyl format and that subdividing everything into different sections helps emphasize flow and cohesion in the track listing. 49. So first of all want to say that a i am very glad that Gaga found somebody to share her life with and that she feels he loves her as a partner and friend, i am happy if she is happy, and i also like how supporting and encouraging of her artistry and music he is, however, i am feeling conflicted about the details revealed by Gaga about the creative process in recent interviews. First, she said that after she made Perfect celebrity she had the vision the album should have to go in that more industrial, grungy and gritty direction, but then Michael suggested that she shouldn't and put the idea in her head that she was "trying to be something" by doing so. i don't think that because she is a pop artist, going in a more alternative direction is her "trying to be something", i see the point and how it might be the case that it was true, but putting that in her head can also have the risk of limiting her, it might've been even more authentic to her if that was what she was called to do initially. To me Gaga just embodies so well all the genres she explores that to make the suggestion that she was just trying to be something feels wrong, contrast it with Harlequin for example, was she trying to be something just because she dabbled more deeply in the Jazz genre in the album as a whole? No, i dont think so, why would it be different with a pop album heavily influenced by rock, industrial and grunge that still has room to other genres too? Then she also revealed that was going to leave HBDUWM out of the album because it made her feel weird how pop it was for her, but then Michael suggested she should put it in the album cause he thought fans will love it. Michael, honey, what?? I don't think he knows well what fans love about Gaga, the people who most prone to like a song such as HBDUWM are locals, GP or pop music fans that also happen to like Gaga or be also Gaga fans, but Little monsters, don't think so, maybe some, but i think the general sentiment amongst little monsters is that they love the more wilder side of Gaga, the boundary pushing artist that brings vanguard, oddness and weirdness, and this is the Antithesis of HBDUWM as a song, both lyrically and sonically, as she explained, in it she's conflicted about the pressures of still being a "a good girl" by the love interest, despite of her. Little monsters don't want that from her. and i think in general HBDUWM just doesn't belong in Mayhem at all, it is off to me, much more than Die with a Smile. She also compared it to what Just Dance made her feel, however, there is a great difference, in the times of JD she was a nobody in the music industry, she had to find way to hook people and infiltrate pop music somehow, and even then JD was fresh and interesting take on eurodance amidst the US pop landscape of the time, and it was a struggle to get it played on radio or have people believe in it, the same can't be said about HBDUWM, plus now she doesn't need to put things out that don't reflect very accurately the kind of artist that she is in favour of appealing to more people, if it made her feel weird how pop it was, and still does, maybe she shouldn't have included it as she intended originally... So i really think his suggestions were off, of course Gaga is the one who has the final say here and who decides what to do with her music, and if she listened to Michael suggestions, it means that is what she wanted to do the most and what she thought was the more authentic to her in that moment, however, i can't help but wonder what kind of sounding album we would've gotten and how the tracklisting would feel like if Michael hadn't suggested these things to her, and if it was Gaga in its purest and rawest form, without her listening to somebody else and changing the direction of her original instints and intentions, or people putting ideas in her head that end up affecting the final result. I know that firsts instints are not all the time the best ones to make desicions, and that the creative process takes turns regardless of somebody else giving inputs, but still i just happen to think his were off, but who knows anyway, i'm sure he knows Gaga better than me or any of her fans at the end of the day, but he can also unintentionally project his own perceptions into Gaga's work as any of us can. Regardless of this, i'm also very excited for the future, Gaga said that what we heard in Mayhem is just the tip of the iceberg to the direction she might take on future releases, and altho i still loved Mayhem, i think it is not Gaga at her fullest potential yet, she is just so talented with such a huge musical scope and range, i'm now sure she'll explore more deeply the darkest and harder soundscapes touched in Mayhem. Anyway, i'd like to know what other monsters think about this, write your opinions!
