the promo is everywhere soon little managers will say that she's overexposed, it's an achievement!29 points

I see it now, cuz In a way mayhem so far almost feels like she’s picking up where ARTPOP left off. I’d think the **** she took for that record and how heavily criticized she was really made her question her worth as a pop star, and I think that’s the nostalgia we’re feeling right now. It’s not because abracadabra sounds like her old stuff (it’s really new in a lot of ways) but it’s the feeling we get when we hear it28 points

Oou - Lady Gaga — MAYHEM Release date: March 7 Who better to launch Women’s History Month than pop’s Mother Monster? After focusing on her acting career for the past few years, Lady Gaga is finally coming back to music with her long-awaited seventh LP, MAYHEM, set to drop on March 7. […] She described the creative process as "reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way." MAYHEM is not just a nostalgic lap across her anthemic discography, but a 14-track "kaleidoscopic" reinvention that blends old and new perspectives. A taste of this new era for the singer can be seen through her three pre-releases so far: the sleek industrious smash "Disease," the chart-topping hit "Die With a Smile" featuring Bruno Mars, and "Abracadabra," a dark dancefloor anthem like only Gaga can deliver. - Source: https://www.grammy.com/news/grammy-museum-events-march-spring-202523 points

Sorry if this was already posted and hope we get a Tiny Desk soon! https://www.npr.org/2025/03/03/nx-s1-5316194/lady-gaga-mayhem-freaks?utm_source=flipboard&utm_medium=activitypub Interesting look back on Gaga’s impact in anticipation of MAYHEM’s release: But especially in moments of social conflict like the one America is currently facing, we also need the kind of friction Gaga's first years as an icon offered. As divides are more deeply encoded and hierarchies reinforced, outsiders will need to gird themselves. They will need to be in touch with their rage and understand the ways in which they have been reviled. This calls for an ongoing confrontation with stigma and with the lingering effects of trauma; we need heroic stories that raise darkness in order to show how it might, at least symbolically, be vanquished. There is value in putting struggle at the heart of your art, as Gaga has often done.22 points

Hey all. I listen to Elvis Duran and the Morning Show every morning and just heard live that Gaga is doing a radio takeover on Friday at 5 PM ET. She'll be playing songs from Mayhem as well as other of her 'favorite' pop songs. The commercial didn't necessarily indicate if she'd have any extensive audio commentary or if they're just plugging and playing a playlist she made but, it's cool. EDIT: heard while in the shower, they're also playing the album at midnight ET on Friday21 points

I listened to every piece of content she ever spoke about Chromatica and I will defend this statement. For the record, I love the album and I have no ill will toward BloodPop. However there is a marked difference between the way she has spoken about the creative process for Mayhem and Chromatica. I also didn’t say she didn’t want to make a dance album or that she was forced too, but she was clearly too emotionally compromised at the time to be the full-on creative powerhouse we know her to normally be in the studio. She spoke about Bloodpop having to drag her back into the studio from crying and chain smoking on the porch. She spoke about sending Rain On Me to dozens of different producers to figure out the song’s production. None of those examples speak to someone who is operating in their creative prime.17 points

Why is everyone all of a sudden turning on Chromatica. It's an excellent album and as Gaga as the others. Who else could have sung Rain On Me, Replay, Babylon? She poured herself onto that record.17 points
-
It’s obvious she was forced and pushed to do Chromatica, she wasn’t in a good mood to be the popstar she used to be, so that doesn’t count. After ARTPOP, none of the albums other than Chromatica were pop in the same way as her earlier records. It shows that Chromatica wasn’t made organically.17 points

"I wrote LoveGame for another artist. They ultimately didn't want it. I got to keep it. I'm happy that happened. I wrote it one night at 4am. The original vocal was recorded on the side of a computer. I could never top it, so I kept it." – Gaga via Gaga Radio https://x.com/gagapicturescom/status/189696773677926853814 points

I think in another interview she said something to the effect of “a return to the type of pop people knew me for at the beginning of my career.”14 points

It's about her pop persona, not the genre. She did not feel "GAGA" for a long time. Michael convinced her to touch the passion of where "Gaga" came from.13 points

The promo this era is truly INSANE, she is EVERYWHERE like what other female artist from her generation still does all of this? I am so tired of the little monsters who only remember Chromatica for some reason and act like she doesn’t promote when she literally ALWAYS did and Chromatica was the one exception due to the pandemic & also her mental health at that time. I cannot wait to be overwhelmed starting Friday with ALL of this!!!11 points

I don’t really understand what Gaga means when she keeps calling MAYHEM a “return to pop” or says how Michael convinced her to make a pop record again….. apart from her jazz projects, isn’t Gaga’s entire discography pop? Someone help me understand.10 points
