Sweeties, every Gaga dance album but Chromatica has had a rock ballad. Why are you acting brand new? Brown Eyes, Speechless, You and I, Dope. It SHOULD have been 1000 Doves on Chromatica, but whatever.29 points

For Lady Gaga, the focus in this moment is on "Abracadabra," the latest single from her upcoming album Mayhem. The singer is working to make that tune as big a smash as possible before the full-length drops. As it climbs on charts in the United Kingdom, it helps its predecessor grow in popularity as well. https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcintyre/2025/02/21/lady-gagas-latest-single-is-so-huge-its-helping-her-previous-song-rise/22 points

Gaga’s single “Abracadabra” came together spontaneously. “She just heard something immediately, and grabbed the microphone and started flowing in the room,” says Watt. “Once there’s this initial kind of thing she always runs to the piano because then it becomes a song, and then what are the chords and there’s this crazy fun synth part and then where can it go… Once you came up with the chords for the other parts then we recorded that on other synths… You keep running between the control room and the live room, the control room and the live room.” The making of “Die With a Smile” was as old-school as it gets. “It was a really long day and night,” says Watt. “Bruno was there with [producer/songwriter] James Fauntleroy, and they just started playing together. Gaga wrote out all the chords and all the changing bass notes so she could know what she was going to play, Bruno was on the guitar, and they kind of just started breaking down the song together, really singing together and organically arranging their harmonies… Everything on that song is live. Live drums, live bass, live guitars, live vocals. Listen to them sing — it’s raw.” https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/lady-gaga-mayhem-rolling-stones-grammy-andrew-watt-interview-1235276727/21 points

Even as a DWAS lover, I don't think this is true whatsoever. They're putting the song on the album because it's super popular—which is great, I have no issue with it—but it definitely was not intended to be part of MAYHEM originally.21 points

DWAS set the bar too high in this fanbase. You'll have to realise that DWAS number are not anything normal, for anyone's standards. Even Flowers that is a HUGE reference as stream smash hit is erased by DWAS. So you all need to get the fact neither Gaga or Bruno will push those numbers again anytime soon. Abracadabra is pulling hit song numbers on Spotify right now. A 4 million update on a Saturday is pretty strong for a song that already has been out for weeks.21 points

For far too long this song has faced persecution in this fan base. I will NO LONGER BE SILENCED! Jewels N' Drugs is a great song and I am NOT ASHAMED! Starting with the iconic iTunes Festival performance: The "F*ck me Gaga" right before, ICONIC. "From across the pond, T.I. They wouldn't let him into the country, poor thing." ICONIC. The visuals: The amazing DJ White Shadow production!!!! The solo in the performance especially! The ICONIC lyrics! Just to name a few: "Slap honey on a young pancake" "Don't want your money, want your love" The part that makes me go CRAZY when Twista come in with FIRE and the production goes HARD "Come and show me the gateway into your love I feel like the money can never do it like the club And I feel like a diamond can never do it like a drug And I want it so come on and take it with me so that I can hit it I can admit it, I'm influenced by desire when I approach her I try to provoke her by givin' money and jewelry and accessories Instead of the recipe of a legacy of takin' her to another place when I get it Hold up Twista be goin' in warp speed, breakin' atoms Blowin' O.G. has got me creating antimatter Let her pop it and smoke on it with me, now I got her Because she be ready to party and then move to the club (Yes) Because you know the way I think is an anomaly And I'ma be strange as Lady Gaga Probably a dollar be the business But I'd rather be in an outer dimension when I be talkin' about jewels and drugs" Everything about the song was a surprise, unexpected sound, 3 rappers, and crazy visuals. So chaotic, some may say it's MAYHEM. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.18 points

I mean plans change everytime. Not the first time Gaga includes a song not meant to be on an album last minute. It will fit Her only mistake was talking about the song before she added it to the album15 points

https://twitter.com/doxie_gay/status/1893443890226561363 "btw I worked at G*tty Images and they have an internal list of celebrity relationships with photographers (so when an event occurs they basically negotiate which photographers to send out depending on attendance) and guess who has the best relationship with everyone? Lady Gaga" Very interesting. So thats why she got a lot of great shots throughout her career, like all is planned out. She respects them, and they respect her. She knows the importance of these professional photographers. A true 'Perfect Celebrity' See the tweet thread also14 points

No one is denying that past albums didn't have a ballad. It's that DWAS was released as a stand alone single as said by Gaga. Disease underperformed, DWAS smashed, and they added it to the album. Thats it.13 points

I hear you, as a trans woman this makes me so sad. I live in México and I feel safer here in México than being in the US, but fun queer music can make you forget about all the bad things that are happening right now... at least for a moment, then you can go back to reality(sadly), thats how we deal with things. Why do you thing we love female pop stars? they've always supported us through pop music and with their activism. This year I have to renew my USA visa and idk if they're going to allow me to change my sex in my visa , here in México I'm legally a female, all my documents and ids are female11 points

There have been many rumors on the stylistic direction of R9,the fan name given to the long-awaited record. A reggae album was buzzed about in 2018, though she’s quick to debunk this: “Way off! There’s no genre now. That’s why I waited. Every time, I was just like, ‘No, it’s not me. It’s not right. It’s not matching my growth. It’s not matching my evolution. I can’t do this. I can’t stand by this. I can’t perform this for a year on tour.’ After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears. It has to count. It has to matter. I have to show them the worth in the wait. I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more.” Still keeping the details close to her chest, she shares that she’s “feeling really optimistic. This feels right. It feels like it digs right into where I need to be, and I want this. This body needs to come out, and I’m ready to go there. This is becoming my new freedom, because when I’m in the studio, I know that my time away from my kids is to blossom something that hasn’t been watered in eight years. I’ve been in the studio the whole eight years. But it didn’t hit me. I was searching for it. I went through phases of what I wanted to do. ‘This kind of album, not that album.’ I know it’s not going to be anything that anybody expects. And it’s not going to be commercial or radio digestible. It’s going to be where my artistry deserves to be right now. I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!” source10 points
