  6. 2024 Gaga song smashing even harder than Shallow... Who would've thought, honestly what a gift that keeps giving! ROM had huge first weeks smashing, but it was nothing compared to DWAS's longevity, it's absolutely insane

  7. Girl, Alejandro and Paparazzi are NOT moderate hits On topic, the GP voted for Trump, so… Also, let’s not pretend Gaga pushed it. It feels like a posthumous single.

  8. It probably was a bit overshadowed by both DWAS and Joker reception, unfortunately. Plus these days many people are drawn to a more, umm, minimalist type of sound compared to the maximalist sonic that Gaga is known for. I still think it'll end up having solid longevity. Peaks aren't everything, just saiyan.

  22. Gaga is more distant at the moment, but remember, no one expected JFAD to do the way it did. If it performed the way Gaga thought it was going to, she would be knee deep in oscar campaigning right now. Just think about it. The Oscars are on March 2. The voting period is between Jan 8 - Feb 18. She planned to release LG7 in February, maybe even the end of Februay. It is highly likely that she had december and january blocked in her calendar to maximize her chances of getting that best actress oscar she wants so much. They also thought that the popularity of JFAD was going to help Disease. It just fell apart in a way that no one could have predicted, but for this reason there were no bigger plans to promote Disease and there were limits on what they could arrange after the fact. Like the carpool karaoke or recording some live versions. On the bright side, Gaga's schedule opening up allowed her time to record her cameo for Wednesday season 2 so at least that will be amazing content for us this year. #BloodyMaryForever

  23. Gaga seems to have no idea what can connect to GP. All these recent works only cater to die-hard fans and to limit your market/target audience...... that's not what a pop singer should do. Very disappointed in these recent flops, especially Joker 2 and Disease.

  25. Honestly I think you are right. I think its a shame they didn't move to fill in the gap though. Because the JFAD collapse was known pretty quickly, they definitely had time to get into the music promo slots and do more. I think the larger issue is that even though Gaga is visibly feeling very passionate about the creative aspect of this new album. The reality is she just isn't the Gaga of 2008-2011. The narrative is Michael convinced her to do a pop LG7. And although publicly she looks very happy with what is coming. She's clearly a different Gaga in terms of her connection to the music industry. And I don't think we'll ever see a big Gaga era again in terms of music videos/singles. I think her tours and shows will still be big spectacles. I just expect bigger breaks between eras and less content outside of tours.

  29. Oh my god some of you are just so lame I can’t. Go stan Taylor Swift or someone boring like that if you want “mature, smooth, soft stripped back” granny music. This is f*cking Lady Gaga ppl! And Disease is metal af! It’s dark, heavy, abrasive, dirty, sexy, untamed and one of the coolest, funnest and most imaginatively intricate songs she’s done in over a decade and I am so f*cking here for a whole wild album like that, as are most of her true OG fans. Honestly why even bother stanning her if you clearly don’t get her or don’t live for all the exciting, unique and raw aspects of her.

  30. I take issue with a few things here. One, they could have stood by the project (Joker) regardless of the reception. Instead, they ditched it and let it fail even harder than it would have just 'cause it wasn't an immediate commercial success. Doesn't mean they have to defend the directoral decisions made in the editing room, but having some of the passion shown on screen translate to real life instead of a few half-hearted interviews with shady looks to one another. I would prefer her die by a project she seemed incredibly excited for and create a sleeper cult favorite with cute promo for her INCREDIBLE accompanying album than drop both and pretend they don't exist. Two, if she really released the (then ) lead single of her next album with no plans to perform it or give it the love it deserves 'cause she would be on her campaign trail to get an Oscar award then she really is far removed from the artist I thought she was. That's terrible planning one way or the other. Either Disease was randomly released to appease the fans when it was obvious she wouldn't win any awards other than some Razzies or they really dropped that banger with zero intentions of doing anything with it outside of a week of TikToks and a video. Three, it all comes down to my main grievance with her last year: she's not going for authenticity, she's not taking any stances, she's not making any statements, she's playing it safer than she EVER has before. People said Joanne was her "PR era" but it was an incredible risk to release that album. She stood by her project no matter what, even when the fans complained and the GP reception was lukewarm (until the Superbowl, that is). Then they said ASIB was her "PR era" but it wasn't, it was her true breakthrough as an actress. Again, another huge risk and it paid off so well. LG7 is her PR era so far. And with zero risks since she was cast as Lee and zero risks on the horizon...idk. She's tossed a movie, an album, a single, and a standalone feature on Bruno's song and only one of those things has got the proper attention 'cause it was the most commercially successful one. It actively overrode one of them and infected another. All the others might as well not even exist at this point. I absolutely expect if the reception to LG7 isn't Taylor Swift levels of stupid successful, she'll ditch it ASAP too aside from a couple of the rumored festivals and maybe a <20 date stadium tour to maximize profits. I don't have much faith in her rn if you can't tell I'm open to being proved wrong though. Desperately hoping she makes me eat my words. I just miss the artist that got vomited on and when she got backlash for it she said "yeah, I f*cking did it, f*ck you". Literally willing to live and die by what she had to say. /TedTalk

  33. For me it’s a number of factors. The beat is good and there are some decent moments in the production but mixed with the vocal choices she made the song just doesn’t have a huge replay factor for me because ultimately I find it grating. I like things to be smooth. It can be upbeat, a ballad, hiphop, whatever genre you can think of but it has to have a smoothness to it. Nothing Gaga has released since A Star Is Born has smoothness to it. Even Hold My Hand is terrible and grating to try and listen too. Harlequin has moments that are really really nice but ultimately not something I reach for on a drive home from work, or going into the office, or really ever. She seems obsessed with doing anything other than singing in a pleasing manner and it irritates the f*ck out of me. Happy Mistake is a great example! I adore so much about the song but can only listen until the 1:45 mark because once the breakdown and literal screaming starts I’m out. It spikes my blood pressure. I want a maturely written song with great production ( I literally don’t care what genre she picks) and the singing quality in tone and choices to be smooth. Until she delivers that I will stream to support but definitely not have anything on repeat. Most of my coworkers have said the same things. Most them complaining about how she can’t seem to chill the hell out vocally. Too much chaos

  39. It's time the fanbase understood that Gaga is more underground than mainstream Back in 2008, her music wasn't particularly mainstream, and the US rejected her at first She created the trend etc and became mainstream in spite of herself Today, what makes Gaga mainstream is her name But her recent projects, such as ARTPOP, Joanne and Harlequin, show the opposite Her projects run counter to the mainstream, and they both succeed and fail Sometimes it flops and sometimes it succeeds I love Disease for the underground, industrial and heavy side Personally, I don't need her to be the number one to appreciate her music or to appreciate her as an artist I like what I listen to, I like what she does and I like to see her happy I can't wait to hear LG7 and see her on tour, it's going to be great

  40. One needs to remember that Charli XCX, who unquestionably had the biggest album of 2024, didn’t have a single song even come close to what would be called chart success before the release of brat. Yet still, the album as a whole was a massive success. I think in the days of streaming, having a single hit the big leagues chart-wise isn’t as important, and feels at least, far more random than before. Yes, it worked for Sabrina, yes it can make a huge difference to the momentum of an album release. But it’s very different these days, and it often relies on either being super viral on Tik Tok, or, just random organic success (DWAS) - which, if you look at the charts these days, feels impossible to predict. I love DWAS but I NEVER saw it doing that well, and honestly I don’t think anyone did. Disease ticks every box for what most of us wanted from a Gaga track these days. I think the album is going to do the same. As for its chart success? Who knows - it could’ve gone either way, but it just never found the right trend / influencer to kick it off, and may be too abrasive for the GP.

  42. Combination of not being the right sound for a mainstream hit and overshadowed by DWAS. Some people say she should have promoted it better but I doubt it would have made much of a difference.
