Gaga is making sure the pain she got from tattoing Rio on her skull was worth it, huh17 points

As we're approaching our sixth illuminati renewal with DWAS, here are a few things to point out about collaborations 1. 1-2 MAX 3 collaborations per album isn't even that high, even when you take into consideration a bunch of these aren't singles. 2. We have no control over what goes 1 and what doesn't. Did Bad Romance reach #1? Alejandro? Telephone? no, they could've though ! 3. Fight me but Shallow is a solo song, its relevance and charting has nothing to do (musically) with Bradley 4. In the past 10 years, it's been normalized to remix a song for it to chart, has Gaga ever done a remix to a previous single? no, they're genuine collabs. We've also seen interpolations, songs with +4 features, extreme sampling, covers, and nobody says anything. The whole argument is giving unemployed resentful millennial, or severely unemployed gen z who recently discovered Taylor Swift, yapping on social media thinking they know a thing or two about pop music. Let's move on, bling not the music but our bling has QUALITY, half of y'all favs can't chart without 15 composers and their mothers, or 45 variants up our bussies, long live DWAS.13 points

Die With a Smile has now become Lady Gaga's 10th most viewed video on her YouTube channel, with 474 million views just 4 months after its release. It recently surpassed iconic music videos like Rain On Me (428M views), Applause (448M views), and Just Dance (464M views). With this achievement, the LG7 era has already surpassed the most viewed videos from previous eras, including ARTPOP's Applause, Chromatica's Rain On Me, and Joanne's Million Reasons (337M views). At this rate, it's only a matter of time before DWAS overtakes Telephone (481M views), Judas (521M views), I'll Never Love Again (546M views), Alejandro (576M views), and Always Remember Us This Way (609M views), breaking into the Top 5—likely within the next two months. DWAS is currently in 3rd place on YouTube's official Top 100 Music Videos Global chart, trailing Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas Is You (Make My Wish Come True Edition) in 2nd place and ROSÉ & Bruno Mars's APT. in 1st place.12 points

I don't really feel like celebrating this song's achievements. I see it as a point of fracture between the fandom and the general public. And the GP is winning in this "contest". Don't take me wrong, the song is beautiful, I understand why it struck a chord with the masses but it just feels like Gaga is becoming a victim of her success (post-Shallow) where she's really accepted and appreciated for her adult contemporary music, so to say. Disease, in the meantime, an outstanding Gaga track is kinda left with our fandom in the trenches, struggling to make an impact and remind the world what makes Gaga, well Gaga, despite all the "I'm not one thing" talk that she's been pushing for years. This situation made me realise that her success in the late 00s with TF/TFM was rather an exception than a sure formula to get you to the top. I certainly hope that Gaga will not let the success of this style of music dictate her future exploration of the musical genres. In a way, I feel like she'll remain misunderstood by the masses.12 points

I came across this video and found some really interesting things she said about her marriage. At 51:13, she's asked about her love life. She says, 'My love life is the one thing I never talk about.' I almost forgot about how she used to evade all questions about her love life earlier in her career, and I wonder what the reasons are. I'm also incredibly impressed by how she has been so articulate, thoughtful and mature at that age, and how she kept true to her words even 13 years later (assuming she is married.) You'd think that she might've compromised her values after more than a decade, but no, she seems to hold the same opinions when it comes to love and marraige. At 58:11 she's asked if she could envision having her own family, having kids and having a more traditional existence. She said unequivocally 'Sure. It's (the traditional existence of a family) something I have now, I just want more of it in the future.' I dk why but it's so refreshing to hear that. She seemed to have very strong opinions and feelings about family in a way that's different from most younger people. Most people don't give much thought to it at that age, haven't figured out, but she seemed to know what she wanted already. I also wonder if that has some connection to the depth of her relationship with music and art?11 points

She refrained from answering relationship questions at the start of her career so that the press wouldn't focus on that when they're publishing on her. Instead they focus on her music, fashion, art, etc. Mother is a master on the art of fame, she knows how to be famous and for the right reasons. Whether you're famous because you have 3 boyfriends in a year, because you are in a relationship with someone famous, because your sex tape got leaked "accidentally", because you throw shade at your contemporaries, or because of your talent. She chose talent.10 points

Update: Liam Payne‘s friend Roger Nores and two workers at the CasaSur Palermo hotel had their charges fully dropped in the singer’s death investigation, a panel of judges from Argentina’s Court of Appeals announced in an extensive ruling. The judges ruled that Nores did not play a role in Payne “obtaining and consuming alcohol,” nor could have done anything to prevent Payne’s death in the hours leading up to it. “It is possible that, if he had stayed in his company at all times, [Payne] would not have obtained the drugs and alcohol in the quantities necessary for the state of intoxication he exhibited at the time of his death,” reads the ruling. “But it cannot be ruled out that, even if he had taken those extreme precautions… that [Payne] would have managed to obtain the substances anyway, as is common among addicts, even when they are under the loving care of their family.” The panel of judges explained that Nores’ “situation” is no different than his family’s responsibility in helping Payne with his addiction issues, as the judges referred to an Aug. 23, 2024, email from Nores to his father expressing his concern for Payne. “Despite accusing Nores of failing to communicate and raise alarms with the victim’s family, they remained silent about the email through which the accused had expressed his concerns and warned that he would not be able to look after Payne’s health,” reads the ruling. As for hotel workers Gilda Martin and Esteban Grassi, the judges wrote that there was not enough proof that they acted in “thoughtless, reckless, or merely negligent behavior” in their actions leading up to his death. Attorneys for Nores had pointed to the hotel workers’ decision to carry Payne — who some witnesses claimed, according to the ruling, was passed out — up to his room in the minutes before his death. The ruling essentially clears Nores, Grassi, and Martin, stating that the “formation of this case does not affect their good name and honor.” Ezequiel Pereyra and Braian Paiz — the two men accused of selling Payne drugs — will remain behind bars as they await trial. source ▆ ▆ ▆ Five people have been charged in connection with the death of One Direction singer Liam Payne in Argentina, local media report. The 31-year-old star died on 16 October after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires. Payne's manager as well as the manager of the hotel and its head of reception are charged with manslaughter in relation to Liam Payne's death. They face up to 5 years in prison if convicted. A hotel employee and a local waiter are accused of plying Payne with cocaine during his stay, and face up to 15 years in prison. The judge in her decision on Friday ordered them jailed ahead of their trial. • Hotel employee EDP is suspected of having sold Liam Payne cocaine on 15 and 16 October • Waiter BNP is also suspected of having sold cocaine to Liam Payne twice on 14 October • Payne's friend RLN is suspected of manslaughter for allegedly "failing to fulfil his duties of care, assistance and help" towards the singer after having "abandoned him to his luck knowing that he was incapable of fending for himself and knowing that he [Payne] suffered from multiple addictions" • Hotel Manager GAM is suspected of manslaughter for allegedly failing to stop Payne from being taken to his hotel room moments before his death. According to the court papers, given Payne's state, the room's balcony posed a "serious threat" and the manager should have ensured Payne was kept in a safe place until medical help arrived • Chief receptionist ERG is also suspected of manslaughter for allegedly asking three people to "drag" Payne, who could not stand up, to his room, instead of keeping him safe. bbc reuters9 points

After seven years as a judge on American Idol, it's Katy Perry's turn to face feedback — and her latest critic isn't holding back. Over the weekend, musician Steven James shared his reaction to one of the singer-songwriter's new tracks, "OK," in a now-viral video. "This can’t be the same person who eliminated me on American Idol 5 years ago," James wrote over the TikTok video, which sees him grimacing through the song and giving the camera the side eye as it play Commenters were quick to pile-on below the video, with one TikTok user writing, "Sounds like a theme song of a PBS kids show," while another added, "Damn, when you put it that way." The track arrived earlier this month as part of 1432, a deluxe version of Perry's recent LP, 143. The new edition came with four extra tracks, including, “OK." source9 points

I don't think anyone on this forum disagrees with that! Only the dvmb stans on twitter who don't want to give Gaga credit for anything. But if it wasn't for the movie, the song would never go #1, we can't ignore the fact that a smash hit movie is probably the best promo a song can get9 points

That’s not true. If she was a victim of her own success Chromatica and LG7 both will be ballad centered albums. But Chromatica was very electronic and LG7 will also be electronic if we can judge it from only the Disease track. Actually I like that we get both ballads and dance songs in the same period. And I hope that LG7 will be a perfect pairing for these two sides of Gaga9 points

It is actually the #1 and the chart they link to will show that when actuals come out tomorrow or Tuesday, The trades have all reported as such, but the actual box office trackers don’t physically update until Monday or Tuesday because they want to use the real numbers, not projections. We’ve known it will be this week’s #1 since Friday night when the trades posted the projections for the 5-day holiday weekend. This ad was made in response to that, and is just running before the trackers like Box Office Mojo do their weekend update once the week begins. Mufasa is looking at $60+ million this week whereas Sonic is closer to $58 million. They’re telling the truth, it’s just that whoever made the community note clearly doesn’t know how these things work.8 points

Vogue now has the Most Dressed list, which features, as the mag puts it, “a list of the people who did the absolute, well, most with their fashion this year.” In other words, Vogue writes, “They wore a whoooooole lot of clothing—be it in quality or quantity.” Katy Perry made the list with her “style overhaul” ahead of the release of her album 143. She wrote the lyrics of her song “Women’s World” on two different outfits, wore a lower back tattoo that doubled as a QR code that let you presave 143 and who could forget the time she wore a huge fur coat, ripped tights and nothing else? Rita Ora one-upped Blake Lively’s 10 outfits in one weekend with a record-setting 10 outfits in one night. The singer hosted the European Music Awards in everything from a hair-raising strapless strapless dress to a sheer hooded muumuu and Kiki boots. And that’s not even to speak of her litany of other looks this year, from the Primark suit she wore to the Fashion Awards to the daring beaded Marni at the Met Gala. Charli XCX is included for making what Vogue calls “club- rat staples” — micro shorts, sheer and leather — “just as zeitgeist-y as her album [Brat].” Taylor Swift made the list for using “fashion as a method of communication,” wearing tons of different plaid ensembles — which fans believe hint toward her Reputation (Taylor’s Version) release — and many, many red outfits to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s Kansas City Chiefs. “Diet Pepsi” singer Addison Rae‘s on the list for the “lightly deranged energy” of her fashion sense, wearing a Jean Paul Gaultier cone bra bustier, a swan-like bra and panty set and a “Lady F****** Gaga” tee with microshorts and glittery pumps. Camila Cabello and Jennifer Lopez also made the list. vogue source6 points

apart of supplying the drugs, which is against the law, I don't see why they are even charged for manslaughter? He wants the drugs, bought them and used them, mixed with alcohol, and just lost it. Unless he was pushed by one of them? This whole mystery around it by the police makes it look like a cover up to find someone to put the blame on.6 points

Throwback to one of my favorite Janet tracks. Probably my favorite, actually It's a song about finding love online, written way back in '97 yet more relevant and relatable than ever before due to how online most of our lives are now. How could it be that you knew me My deepest fears, my fantasies Confide in you what no one knows But it feels so real - I'm rushin' home to turn you on Sometimes you're there, sometimes you're gone Wait for hours for your return So tell me please, am I wasting my time? Your phrases, descriptive And through the textured words With beauty, you post it And use such colored verbs - So tell me, you think that maybe we've gone insane To find a, a lover and through the words of pain We've never met, ooh I can see your face (When I lick my lips) I can taste your smile (When I see your name) My heart starts to race (If I can't read your thoughts) Then I feel empty It just hits so deep We're so open and honest with others online, banking on an anonymity that can't last if something real is to be found and built. We tell virtual strangers things even our closest friends don't know. We find ourselves with feelings for someone that's "just" a name on a screen, curated words, and a voice through a speaker. And when our phones are off and we're left with these feelings and nobody to sit with it feels so damn empty. Janet's vocal take on this track sounds so vulnerable, like someone discovering a new world, and I guess that's what they were doing in the mid to late 90s as the internet really took off. And that production? My god. First, let's talk about how this song tows the line from drum-and-bass to RnB to a proto-vaporwave. But it also tells a story that tracks with many people's experiences with online romances. It begins simple, calming, happy, and pretty. By the end, it's built this kind of tension. The sticks tapping away like frantic typing, every now and then the main synths take the front again just to fall back behind the shouting/chanting and heavy kicks. It's very much like finding romance with someone a thousand miles away and spending your time after the "honeymoon period" trying to recapture the feeling you had when it all made sense. The deeper you go, the more real it feels, the more you have to combat your emptiness. Name a more iconic team than Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Janet f*cking Jackson. I will wait. You can't Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. I think I may do a full write up for The Velvet Rope album some day for the two of you still reading this. It really is an incredibly special album6 points

I don't ever want to find myself defending Katy Perry of all people, but these contestants need to take several seats. She might be releasing the worst music known to humanity right now and her floppage can be observed from lightyears away but she still was a very successful and relevant musician for a period of time. She does know a thing or two about being a popstar. "This can't be the same person who eliminated me on American Idol" Uh yes, probably because you don't have IT, honey.5 points
