Guys! Weve had a thread like this before and unfortunately we lost to A Bar Song by a literal sliver. Likely by 1 point Anyway, DWAS is the #1 song on US spotify excluding christmas songs (that starting tomorrow should start to plummet) DWAS also remains strong at #3 on US radio with a gap from #1 at little more than 10M AI Considering DWAS is relatively ahead on streams of both #1 and #2 songs on radio, if both radio and streams hold another week we could be golden provided theres no surprise release from a big A-list celeb to ruin everything So starting tomorrow Friday 27th, US monsters please, STREAM the sh*t out of it!!!!20 points

DWAS will just be tacked on as a bonus track at the end to try and boost the albums performance imo, it goes no deeper than that18 points

Honestly? I’m kinda sad to leave 2024 behind, the year of Die With A Smile, Harlequin and Disease. It was (by far) the most exciting year of music in Gaga history since 2014, if not 2011. Gosh, the Olympics were so exciting too. Not my favorite performance but it still gave my entire summer a very particular feeling (an amazing one.) Thank you Gaga for all these beautiful songs. Thank you for the monster smash hit Die With A Smile, thank you for the absolute fan favorite Disease, but (kinda) more importantly, thank you for Harlequin too. It’s such a magical piece and the world is just too narrow-minded to appreciate its special worth. Folie À Deux should’ve won the Oscar and a GRAMMY but hey, maybe 2025 will be better for you. You killed it. We love you. 🖤 And thank you to the fans, no matter how much you complain about sh*t, you make the whole experience even better.15 points

Some of y’all simply don’t want a black woman to be successful and it SHOWS…15 points

I hate this male dominated, white washed society we live in with a passion, so I'm all for female and black artists being successful and celebrated. That said, I agree with many others here: I know this woman mostly because of her weird hot take opinions and online rants, and that's the sole reason why I find her very unlikeable and am not interested in seeing or hearing more from her as an artist. It's as simple as that. Please don't accuse people of racism just because they don't agree with certain opinions that have nothing to do with race. It doesn't help the cause. We need to pick our battles wisely, and I can dislike people of any gender, sexuality, religion or color of their skin, as long as I do not dislike them FOR these things.13 points

So we got confirmation of DWAS being part of LG7, and I think people are now seeing it as a good thing. I was giving it a thought the other day and I think LG7 will be adapted to match DWAS' concept somehow. I think we can all agree that Gaga doesn't have the same commercial power she used to back in the day. She was able to easily debut on the top 10 based on sales only, and the "we want dark Gaga back" narrative obviously didn't match "Disease"'s reception. Gaga is extremely talented, dedicated and authentic, and it's amazing how she manages to merges her music into her side projects. That being said, shaping LG7 to fit DWAS somehow due to its massive success, seems like the right choice from every perspective. Interscope is not going to invest on her unless she can deliver numbers, that's just a fact, so whether we like it or not, Gaga has to be strategic, even if that means sacrificing some of her artistry. She'll always feed us with what we want, that's what she loves, but at the end of the day she's still signed to a record label and we still live in a competitive business, so she needs to meet demands in order to do what she wants. It's been theorized a lot that LG5 was originally a dark album, but at the time Gaga was still trying to fix the damage that ARTPOP caused, so a more personal, soft album was the way to go. This paid off, as Gaga got multiple gigs that had significant impact on her career, from the SB halftime show to starring A Star Is Born. This would probably be the case for LG7 as well. Gaga had a major backlash because of JFAD, we all know it is not her fault the GP didn't like the movie, but she was the easy target, considering she's a singer and they turned the movie into a musical. She also hasn't had a song this big since Shallow, and the Chromatica era was a bit chaotic due to Covid, BLM and all. Other female artists have done this and it paid off. Rihanna initially released three singles for ANTi; "FourFiveSeconds", "B**** Better Have My Money" and "American Oxygen" (plus she released a soundtrack around this time that also didn't do well). The former was actually a hit, but not as big as Rihanna's previous lead singles. It was her first lead single to not reach top 3 on the Hot 100. The latter two didn't do well on the charts at all (BBHMM ended up becoming a slow-burner, but it took several years). Rihanna then changed the concept of the album and started again with "Work", one of the biggest hits of her career. It was followed by "Needed Me" and "Love on the Brain", also massive hits. On the other hand, Ariana scrapped the original concept of her third album Moonlight due to the poor reception of "Focus", many people found the song too similar to "Problem", her biggest hit at the time. She released "Dangerous Woman", in which she focused more on her vocal abilities and a more provocative side that she hadn't explored at that time. With a new concept that was seen as fresh and unapologetic, she released the album now retitled Dangerous Woman and had two of her biggest hits right after, "Into You" and "Side to Side". Keeping this in mind, I don't think Gaga will scrap "Disease", but she will have to do some changes on LG7 to sound cohesive with "Die with a Smile" and create a narrative that will help the album appeal to the GP, as we will need a much appeal as possible to get a hit after the album drops. Please do not consider this as a slander to Gaga, Disease, Rihanna, Ariana, anyone or anything mentioned in here, this is just for discussion purposes.10 points

there's no reason to believe that DWAS doesn't fit into everything else she has been working on in the same time frame looking into her old albums like that doesn't make sense because not every song in every album was necesarily even written to fit the albums "message" a lot of it gets twisted to fit in after.. I mean we know telephone was written and pitched to britney, it wasnt even written to specifically fit in with the fame monster i dont see the diffetrence between multiple songs on Gaga albums and DWAS I mean what has brown eyes got to do with the fame? Even speechless wouldn't make sense with TFM unless we are specically told how afterwards. Just because DWAS wasn't originally intended to be on the album doesn't mean it can't harmlessly fit in in a way that can make sense10 points

Gaga and Bruno remain at #1 for a 15th week in the Dutch Top 40! This is huge! As few other songs also were there 15 weeks, but now it has a shot to be the song that was #1 the longest. Next week they can tie with One kiss and Flowers, and then only As it Was by Harry Styles has more weeks, with 18 weeks at the top!9 points

When ABS blocked us from #1 it had a lead of 30M on radio and we lost by literally one point, now we only have a 10M gap on radio and DWAS is doubling it on streams, so should be more than fine.9 points

A judge has denied Jay-Z’s efforts to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the rapper and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl more than two decades ago. In the lawsuit, originally filed in October, a woman identified only as “Jane Doe” sued Combs for allegedly raping her at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. The complaint was amended Dec. 8 to include the allegation that Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was also present and participated in the assault. Jay-Z has denied all allegations, and his attorney Alex Spiro sought to dismiss the case after the Alabama woman acknowledged inconsistencies in her allegations in an NBC News report published earlier this month. Spiro doubled down last week, speaking outside Roc Nation’s New York headquarters, saying the rap mogul is upset about the suit and that “Mr. Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs’ case.” On Thursday, in her written order, Judge Analisa Torres denied Combs’ hopes to have the suit tossed out. Torres also ruled that the woman accusing the two artists could proceed anonymously at this early stage of the litigation, but that she may be required to reveal her identity at a later date if the case proceeds. https://x.com/THR/status/18726660632733413647 points

Has she ever said a song was replaced or removed to make DWAS on the album?? I haven't heard that at all. I assumed she simply added it to the already set track list. I love the move, btw. So smart on so many levels: - Her album has already sold close to 2 million WW. Yes, that matters to mainstream artists. It means her next album can have bigger budgets, etc. - The song is an instant classic, which will give the album relevancy for years to come. - By having a huge hit on the album, her more experimental songs won't suffer from being called a "flop" should the album underperform commercially. We can just enjoy songs like Disease for what they are, since DWAS will do the heavy lifting sales wise. - And, most importantly, for those of us who love the song, it's going to make a great album (we all hope) one song greater. Which is amazing for me.7 points

BBC News: From Katy Perry's comeback to the Joker sequel: 15 celebrity flops and fails of 2024 1. Katy Perry's comeback It was supposed to be a triumphant return, but critics and fans complained Katy Perry's latest album 143 sounded dated and showed little artistic growth. The music video for Woman's World, which saw Perry join a group of dancers wearing tiny outfits on a construction site, was criticised for being regressive, although Perry later said it was supposed to be satirical. Matters were only made worse when the singer attracted the attention of the Spanish government for shooting the video for follow-up single Lifetimes in ecologically-sensitive sand dunes in the Balearic Islands. But many fans defended the album, which wasn't as bad as some reviews made out, and Perry's accompanying tour has been a huge success. 2. Joker bombing at the box office Making a sequel to 2019's Joker, which grossed more than $1bn (£790m), was something Hollywood found simply irresistible. Unfortunately, the resulting film, Joker: Folie à Deux, was something audiences found entirely resistible. Making the film a musical was a bold swing, but the tonal handbrake turn alienated the fans and critics who adored the Oscar-winning original. Folie à Deux managed to scrape over the $200m (£158m) mark, but that was barely enough to cover its production budget, let alone marketing costs. It wasn't the only movie flop of the year - audiences were also unenthusiastic about Madame Web, The Fall Guy, Kraven the Hunter, Megalopolis, Borderlands, Argylle, Unstoppable and Furiosa: A Mad Max Story. ... Other flops on the list include Joe Biden's debate performance, the Olympics opening ceremony, and the Bridgerton Ball. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8jy3v2lpweo If you are at home and you are sitting on your couch and you are reading this right now, all I have to say is that flopping is hard work. I've worked hard for a long time and it's not about... you know... it's not about...winning. But... What it's about is... It's about...um...6 points
