Jay-Z’s lawyer made a point to distance his client from Sean “Diddy” Combs in an interview with NBC News on Monday, saying there’s “no friendship” between the two. The rapper’s attorney, Alex Spiro, told NBC News in an on-camera interview that “there is no friendship or longtime bond here” and added that “just because they knew each other, know each other, that doesn’t mean anything.” source25 points

Mid week predictions from the Dutch top 40: Last week it seemed Gracie Abrams, Teddy Swims or Bruno/Rose could dethrone DWAS at the top spot, but it managed to get a 13th week at #1. This week it seems the other songs have slowed down, so it is predicted DWAS will get its 14th week at the top, making it the 9th song EVER to reign for so long!13 points

Composer Toninho Geraes claims 2015 song Million Years Ago copied music of his samba classic Mulheres (Women) and Brazilian judge has ordered a song by British pop superstar Adele, Million Years Ago, be pulled worldwide – including on streaming services – over a continuing plagiarism claim by a Brazilian composer. The injunction threatens the Brazilian subsidiaries of Sony and Universal, Adele’s labels, with a fine of $8,000 “per act of non-compliance”. The music companies, however, can still appeal the decision. The injunction was made by judge Victor Torres on Friday, in Rio de Janeiro’s sixth commercial court, pending further activity in the continuing plagiarism case. His preliminary injunction, obtained on Monday by AFP, orders Sony and Universal to stop “immediately and globally, from using, reproducing, editing, distributing or commercializing the song Million Years Ago, by any modality, means, physical or digital support, streaming or sharing platform”. source12 points

During A Carpool Karaoke Christmas, Chappell Roan(26) spoke about her recognition from the Recording Academy. She called the Grammys a "double-edged sword," likening it to a "talent show for the popular kids." However, the singer is excited about the recognition she received as a "gay artist." "How amazing is it that a gay artist wrote a gay song that went No. 1 with a gay writer who did not grow up in the industry, did not have an in, has been busting her ass for a decade?" she told Lowe. Added Roan, "It’s an honor to be nominated with some of the other artists." When Lowe asked if she had a speech written, she responded: "I don’t have a speech yet, but you know me. I’m going to say something controversial. Why not?" https://people.com/chappell-roan-will-say-something-controversial-if-wins-2025-grammys-87620619 points

What's the point? She was invited to the White House (arguably a larger and more impactful platform) and chickened out at the last second 'cause someone convinced her Joe Biden would have her killed or something if she said something about Palestine...which she was invited to do Ain't nobody cares what she says in front of a bunch of celebrities. Especially when she's sitting here calling the whole thing pointless to begin with lmao God I find her so damn insufferable she gives me that South Park episode where a whole city was choked in smog caused by people smelling their own farts.7 points

So I actually expected them to have shelved the Harlequin tape because obviously the movie was received poorly. But folks are actually checking out Joker: FAD nowdays and there's a sizable portion of the GP who are defending the movie. Not just little monsters but actual moviegoers from the GP are defending it and saying the initial moviegoers didn't get it and were only mirroring each other's opinions. I dk what the theme was for the Harlequin show but given the setlist comprising jazz and ballads, it's probably wise to utilise the Christmas hype? I just don't see how it'd see the light of the day if it's not by the end of the year. They should definitely push for the 'Our movie was misunderstood and ahead of its time' narrative. I'm not even saying this for strategic purposes - the movie is genuinely misunderstood. With the release of Harlequin tape, people will be objective enough, at this time, to dissociate her contributions from the flaws of the script. Joker: FAD is technically still being considered for awards even if chances are not high, so it makes sense to release it within the awards cycle too. Once she's got this out of the way, both the GP and little monsters can start the year fresh with completely dark visuals and themes undistracted by Die With A Smile, Harlequin and Joker. She could, and should go all in for LG7 and have no holds barred. Thoughts?6 points

They created a pop culture moment in 2005. They better be coming for blood. Confessions on a dancefloor was such a defining moment for me when I was a kid. So much memories tied to this music with my mom. I'm turning 30 in ten days and I hope this feels like a full circle moment.5 points
