https://x.com/MendesNotified/status/1851114103449833555 Mendes explained that he wrote a song called ‘The Mountain’ as it was a way he could address the speculation that felt close to his heart. “I guess I’m just speaking freely now because I want to be able to be closer to everyone and be in my truth,” he said during a performance of the track. “The real truth about my life and my sexuality is, man, I’m just figuring it out like everyone. I don’t really know sometimes and I know other times,” he continued. “And it feels really scary as we live in a society that has a lot to say about that. And I’m trying to be really brave and allow myself to be a human and feel things.”35 points

Disclaimer/intro: I'll just get right to it: the sheer quality of Disease (as well as the short snippets she previewed in Paris) leads me to believe that this project is a very focused and dedicated return to form for Gaga, and that we're only just seeing the beginning. I know these days we're all programmed to think that everything to do with entertainment and online exposure needs to be immediate, massive and CONSTANT in order to smash, but I don't agree with this at ALL. Three of the biggest artists this year (Charli, Sabrina and Chappell) all have one thing in common: they've been hustling for years with a slowburn approach to their careers and things have only just clicked for them. I truly think these three have collectively proven to record labels that they need to nurture their artists/rollouts and let the momentum build instead of trying to capture it right out of the gate. Everyone is imploding from disappointment right now thinking that Gaga has missed her chance by not releasing a music video at launch. Meanwhile all the chronically obsessed Gaga haters out there are literally foaming at their mouths, ecstatic that they've finally got their moment to shine. But fear not monsters, I really think everyone is going to be backtracking and feeling embarrassed come Halloween. Since February I've been on here trying to calm you kids down - it's clear the leakers back then were right about everything and I believe LG7 was supposed to launch around The Chromatica Ball Film premiere. It's likely that after Gaga's team saw the final cut of J:FAD they knew it would disappoint and that's when she decided to control the narrative a bit by releasing her Harlequin companion album. After listening to both Harlequin and the J:FAD soundtrack back to back it's easy to see why: J:FAD's soundtrack features Gaga's "bad singing" as Harley on every track. Knowing the movie likely would underperform, Harlequin was a means to nip extra ammo for the haters by releasing proper vocal recordings of the same songs. The short lived media blitz around the launch of Harlequin was also a way to fulfill marketing commitments but keep the focus on Gaga's music and artistry rather than the film itself. I think all of that above also led to the decision to delay LG7, and to sandwich the rollout of J:FAD with Harlequin and the launch of LG7's first single. The video for Disease is done. It's likely her best video yet. And by letting the song get good reception on its own before launching it on Halloween is a great way to completely sidestep J:FAD and debut the spooky era everyone has been begging for her to do for over a decade. TLDR: Sit down, chill the f*ck out, stream Disease and get ready for the best album of Gaga's career. She's currently experiencing her strongest chart performance of her CAREER so far with DWAS, nearly 20 years into her career. We don't need to worry about streaming numbers anymore sistren35 points

For the love of God let’s stop harassing this man now! We as queer people know how it feels to have people speculate about our identity and to have people pressuring you about it on such a public scale has to be so damaging. However he identifies I just hope he’s happy31 points

Not gonna lie, I thought he was gay when I first saw him, but what if he isn't? . What if he's actually straight, and he'll end up sleeping with men by peer pressure, cause everyone thinks he's gay anyways . I'm sorry but the idea of the internet deciding his sexuality for him is so camp to me . With that said: I think the jokes about his sexuality are tired. Maybe he really is straight, and y'all just being weird, I kinda feel bad for him at this point .24 points

More promo Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are hitting all the right notes this Halloween. The couple and Emmy-winning talk show hosts transform into Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars for the Oct. 31-episode of Live with Kelly and Mark — two of a whopping 40 pop culture-inspired costumes the pair will wear for the annual celebration of the spooky season holiday. PEOPLE has the exclusive First Look at the married couple in their costumes. which appear to be exact replicas of the ensembles Gaga and Mars wear in their "Die with a Smile" music video. https://people.com/kelly-ripa-mark-consuelos-live-halloween-special-first-look-exclusive-lady-gaga-bruno-mars-873581923 points

I'm happy to publicly admit when I was wrong about marketing strategy. The double feature release when they're both charting high is brilliant, and I stand corrected about the rollout. Happy to take any incoming "I told you so"s and "next time shut the f**k up"s. Next time, I'll remind my impatient a** to stfu.19 points

I hope other artists will keep this standpoint as well. Dynamic Pricing is just ridiculous and such a rip-off to your fans. Article: https://m.hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=34310818 points

Get a grip. Do people not remember it used to take *months* before you'd get a music video? This has been finished and waiting for a time of their choosing. I swear people are unhinged. edit: Adding a playful emoji I fear I came across too caustic.16 points

Why are mods merging old threads with new info together, it is so unnecessary to have to search thru 12 pages and also it is not like a lot is happening outside of this16 points

Well yeah, when you release 40 million versions of the same album you’ve already taken enough money from said fans.16 points

Harlequin is so good omg, it deserves so much more. I hope it scores a Grammy nomination for AOTY like Love For Sale did. I know the chances are low cause the circumstances are different but the numbers are tragic so I hope the album gets recognized. I knew it was good but I didn’t notice how great it is on my first listen cause it was a lot to take at once and I was more focused on 2/3 tracks, but DAMMMN, all those songs Die With A Smile is amazing, we all know it, and it (almost) has the success it deserves, which is great to experience. Hope it reaches #1 next week. Disease is awfully wonderful, the entire song sounds sick (literally). Her VOICE. The way that she is finally fearless again. 50 shades of Gaga in one song. I don’t think Interscope wants to focus on it right now, cause it’s DWAS’s ultimate chance to not suffer from the Bad Romance #2 curse. Disease will hopefully have its moment soon, I’m sure it will.15 points

We've had plenty of discussion (read: complaints) about how fans are being too chart obsessed and generally negative and we've also had relatively superficial "omg this song is what we've been waiting for, yas omg DARKGA!!!" praise, but I've seen surprisingly little discussion about what the song is actually about, so... I guess I'm making a thread about it (If this flops, expect several rants about how the "omg why can't we celebrate Gaga and her music??" crew is equally shallow and basic as the chart stans. Yes, this is a test.) Edit: Gaga has now given us a first official explanation so let's focus on that and keep the rest of this post as an optional tangent: "I think a lot about the relationship I have with my own inner demons. It's never been easy for me to face how I get seduced by chaos and turmoil. It makes me feel claustrophobic. Disease is about facing that fear, facing myself and my inner darkness, and realizing that sometimes I can't win or escape the parts of myself that scare me. That I can try and run from them but they are still part of me and I can run and run but eventually I'II meet that part of myself again, even if only for a moment. Dancing, morphing, running, purging. Again and again, back with myself. This integration is ultimately beautiful to me because it's mine and l've learned to handle it. I am the conductor of my own symphony. I am every actor in the plays that are my art and my life. No matter how scary the question, the answers are inside of me. Essential, inextricable parts of what makes me me. I save myself by keeping going. I am the whole me, I am strong, and I am up for the challenge." Discuss14 points
