Being a Gaga Stan is amazing when you just listen to the music and don’t give af about the numbers. Is the song amazing ??? YES. The numbers shouldn’t change how we feel about it. also she’s barely lifted a finger to promote it and the video isn’t even out yet.56 points

I’m not even being remotely subtle here - some of you guys should honestly feel ashamed of yourselves for how you’ve behaved the past 48 hours. Can we please now relax, and just enjoy this ride… please?51 points

Not concerned that much. It’s for Saturday and there’s still no video out. Either way, IDC, the song is incredible. Period.49 points

People need to understand (especially fans) that promoting a song by an A-list artist will never depend entirely on the mood that artist is in, simply because there's just too much money involved. If that weren't the case, if a label could change trajectory based on an artist's mood, the ARTPOP era would have been nonexistent, because she was feeling down. But it wasn't. It existed and it was plagued with events and interviews and promotional material. The music industry doesn't speak in feelings or emotions, much less in the feelings and emotions of a single person, and we shouldn't put on rose-colored glasses when analyzing these kinds of things.45 points

I’m going to be honest, I am not a fan of the song. I’m telling you, Gaga needs to go back to what made her popular and loved in the first place and that is straight pop music.she seems to switch genres constantly and it just doesn’t work. How do you go from jazz to now 90s pop grunge in the span of 1 month. I will always support her, I just wish she would go back to the retro pop sounds that we all love.31 points

This is literally her going back to what made her popular but 2024 version. The reception to the song has been incredible by both critics, most fans and casual listeners. I am not sure why it dropped this much other than it being a Saturday but at the same time not all hope is lot. The reality is she is an older act, she can’t pull the numbers new pop girls do that easily. I am sure this era will succeed, we literally always, and I mean ALWAYS win in the end, we always get a hit somehow and things are good. Look at DWAS, literally came out of nowhere. Shallow too, Million Reasons too, etc.27 points

Woof, the negativity on this site has been insane recently. We finally have a new era of music underway and all everyone is doing is complaining. There’s no reason to care about streaming or popularity anymore because **** in the modern age comes and goes at the speed of light. Just enjoy the music 💀24 points

She’s definitely being shady at these ungrateful fans. I log off for two days, busy on the weekend, relaxing like most people, and come back to see all these meltdowns. She released a great song on Friday, it’s Sunday. You guys need to touch grass.22 points

Starting this thread due to the sudden influx of negative comments since the news of Disease's day 2 decline in streams. Gaga has literally just dropped a lead single that falls in line with what 90% of people on this forum had been asking for, and yet people still seem to be disappointed and in need of more. I mean talk about high maintenance. I've seen comments saying Disease isn't as explosive as they were hoping? Are you actually kidding me? It's literally on a par with Bad Romance in that regard, particularly the last 30 seconds of the song. People comparing it to Perfect Illusion. I'm sorry but i'm not getting that vibe at all. For me it has the production value of ARTPOP with the darker themes of Born this Way, which is literally the perfect combination in my opinion. More frustratingly, people attacking Gaga for her "silence". The song literally came out 2 days ago. There's a music video coming imminently and who knows what else she has planned in terms of promo. There's not a chance she's letting this song go to waste, particular given the overwhelmingly positive feedback it's received. Some fans just seem to hung up on her glory days from 2009 - 2011 and it's as though nothing will satisfy them unless she reaches that peak again. Sorry to disappoint everyone but that's highly unlikely to happen. She's 38 years old now and there's newer and younger artists coming on to the scene that the music industry will be more interested on pushing. People just need to start enjoying the music for what it is and not keep relying on the approval of the GP or streaming/chart positions to determine whether the music is good or not. I pray to God sometimes that Gaga doesn't read comments on this site cause that would be enough to make me go radio silent and cancel all promo. It can be as toxic as Twitter at times. I for one am so excited for this new era. It's the return of DarkGa and based off Disease I can tell LG7 is going to be right up my street.21 points

Theory: she is not promoting cause she got addicted to TikTok and it’s affecting her social life and work21 points

Guys, this song is for us, not for the general public. This is exactly how Charlie made Brat. She did what she wanted and it took off commercially which was great for her, but, at the end of the day she did what she wanted to do and fed her fans. I feel like Gaga is doing the same. I'm not concerned about charts and I doubt she is. She's 38, not in her early 20s where she has the stamina to be running around promoting left, right and centre. Chill, enjoy the music and live in the moment. If it takes off outside our little bubble great. If not, she's still ahead of the curve with this industrial sound. Be smug!21 points

Guys please stream it properly and don’t repeat the song when streaming, I know the song is addictive asf but y’all gotta stream at least 2 or 3 songs when after listening to DISEASE. We could’ve debuted Top 5 in Spotify Global. The energy is there, the execution is not 😭20 points

Take this song for what it is. It is Gaga actually branching into grunge and metal. Journalists describing it as a “return to form” and reminiscent of her earlier work did a disservice to us all, including Gaga. This is not TFM or BTW. That was over a decade ago, so let’s move on. When I forget this is a song by Gaga every preconception melts away and I actually very much dig it. It is a torturous thing to be trapped in the past, and Gaga herself has been dropping hints she has moved on and we should also. My first instinct with this song was "if this was by another artist..." and I think that is VERY much the point. If this were by some new artist, I'm going to call her Stefani Polanksi, we'd have no expectations of it, the rollout, anything. This is a moment that Gaga is wiping the slate clean. She already told us that CBT/Harlequin was a goodbye to the Gaga of before and she was about to step into a new chapter. So we are starting at zero. Remember that. Starting at zero. Ground zero: like the setting of a zombie apocalypse? A disease that has wiped out everything that came before? You picking up what Gaga's putting down?18 points

She saw the little complainers and said "Bitch it's been 3 days, shut up" And her saying "also...happy Halloween"?? me thinks that's when the Disease mv is coming out18 points
-
I can't with some of you. Yesterday it was all glorious. Today everything is wrong. When the MV drops it will all be glorious. Some days later it will all be wrong. Then when it goes viral everyone's gonna be like "I knew it would be a smash!" Then when Christmas songs kick in it will be "a nice moderate hit".18 points

Listen, this song...i- i just i can't explain... but its so addictive, yall i wouldnt say she put c0caine in this song, I'd say she put p0ppers in its place because every time I hear it it's like my ears dilate to let the song easily penetrate my brain and stick to it. Does anyone else feels the same?18 points

come on liddo monsters!! it's time to punch in and roll out!! we must help mother in every way we can because she's been generous enough to give us the dark booming beats after years and years of healing!! she's back with a vengeance and SO ARE WE!! personally i have turned my grindr profile into a Disease promotion profile, as seen below: hashtag DiseaseOnGrindr maybe? we'll put a pin in that for now.. now it's time for the rest of you to get creative! tell your parents, tell your friends, tell your dogs, tell your hamsters!! set up playlists for everyone, hijack that house party speaker, bribe DJs, maybe a little bit of harmless vandalism, get some custom printed t-shirts, dance on tiktok and also tweet tweet TWEET!!17 points

Also, speaking from a profesional PR and marketing perspective, what possible longevity could any artist rn achieve? Be fr Christmas songs will start raising as soon as early-mid November. This strategy should have NEVER been conceptualized as achieving longevity. They should’ve gone for a hard and strong launch and then moderate tactics to sustain it until the Christmas Freeze. Then allow the holidays to pass and pick up again to promote the album on mid-January It honestly makes no sense whatsoever to wait too far into next weeks to start more of the real promo. The crucial moment was the launch. It seemed like they were off to a good start with the expectation and teasing, but these past two days, which were VERY important, they are all MIA. I’m personally keeping track of every tactic in their strategy so I can then make a full analysis for my masters. RN things are not looking that great, but they can still turn it around.16 points

How can Die With a Smile not be a #1 hit already How on earth is it possible that there are no physical sales for the debut week of a Gaga lead single, it could have been a top 10 easily with that core fan base Sorry but i COULD manage her better sometimes i dont care what you say16 points

it's not impossible, just f*cking enjoy it if your music taste is so weak that you need success that doesn't even impact you to enjoy music, i can only feel sorry for you16 points

Okay I just wanna say something, maybe this is not even the best thread for it but it's in response to the disappointment over day 2's numbers/lack of promo I've seen here. We should never forget that Gaga has changed dramatically as an artist in the last few years and especially in the GP's eyes. She is doing many different projects which I find exciting, but I think it also means that most people aren't AS focused on her solo pop music at this point and it might take some time to get them back on track. Joker JUST came out, so did Harlequin, Die With A Smile is huge hit with extreme potential for longevity, Gaga's back catalogue gets a LOT of streams... so maybe we shouldn't panic too soon because after just two days of streaming her new song (which for a lot of people will come out of nowhere) isn't certified 3X platinum yet. Gaga is doing great as an artist, she has never been this strong of a streaming force and even though Joker gets a lot of criticism, Gaga as an actress/artist doesn't seem to take too much of the blame for it. So I just wanna say: relax, stream Disease, enjoy Gaga's success across different media and genres which is truly what makes her one of a kind and let's see what she has in store for us for the LG7 era!15 points

Chasing chart numbers is seriously a... disease; it will ruin and tarnish even the very best of songs (which this is). The truth is this: Gaga is unlikely to smash with her own solo pop music nowadays. And that is FINE. She's nearly 40. Her signature style of pop (Disease) is not the 'it' sound right now. Gen Z (or whatever) are unlikely to ever seriously get behind Gaga as a solo pop artist. And why would they? Most younger listeners didn't back Madonna once Gaga/Britney came around. It's the cycle of pop culture - it's normal. It's life. Gaga is more than a legacy artist though. She still has a very large fanbase and has a lot of pop cultural relevance. She can have that without solo monster hits. She could even have that without the collabs that, yes, have certainly charted better than any of her solo material in the past ten years or so. She'd have that without charting high in any capacity. But again... who cares? Especially when the music is so good. Lady Gaga will ALWAYS be famous. She will always be able to tour; will always able to release albums. She's an icon. And, honestly, the same can be said for Katy Perry. The criticism of Katy's music is because it's bad music (to a lot of us), not because it doesn't chart well. There is no double standard here (from me anyway). If Katy released a fantastic song and it didn't perform well on the charts... so what? Her fans are happy. And let's not forget DWAS is one of the biggest songs of the year. So who really cares how Disease charts? It's one of her best songs, ever. Let's celebrate and focus on that. A badly charting lead single (if that's what this ends up being, which it might not be) is not going to impact Gaga's career if she doesn't want it to.15 points
