I’ve noticed no one seems to be discussing the other original song from the new Harlequin album, Folie à Deux. Gaga wrote this waltz and has mentioned it a few times in interviews. When I first listened to it, I had to stop and replay—it instantly grabbed me with its lyrics. The opening line, "Take my hand, stay here, my friend," immediately reminded me of Joanne: “Take my hand, stay Joanne, heaven’s not ready for you” — Joanne. Later in Folie à Deux, something caught my attention in the third verse when Gaga sings: “I know where we’re going, know where we’re going… and it’s a heaven.” It brought to mind the iconic lyric from Joanne: “Girl, where do you think you’re goin'? Girl, where do you think you're goin', goin', girl?" Another intriguing line follows the mention of heaven: "An island for when we’ll both settle in, a paradise." This made me wonder if we could finally be hearing Paradise, the long-rumoured jazz track she supposedly wrote during Cheek to Cheek. Do you think these similarities are just coincidences, or could the two songs be connected? Especially since Gaga referenced the JWT tape in the cover art, it feels like a deliberate choice of lyrics for the original waltz, which she describes as “falling apart” in the film—much like she did at the JWT. Thoughts on the song? I think it's beautiful and deserves more attention20 points

We really need to keep torrenting and pirating and streaming alive because I'm getting really sick of this era where these giant businesses own everything and we are just 'borrowing' it from them. We own nothing these days and everything can be taken away at the drop of a hat when these multi-billionaires decide to have a pissing match over who gets to have more ads and steal more money Like I was literally at my mum's house today and found a massive stash of cassette tapes and CDs and had this moment of realisation that all of this music has just existed on these things for literal decades and is still just as useable and untouched and unchanged as it was the day it was bought. Compared to this bullsh.it that's happening now19 points

Noah Fence, but something tells me the same fans who are BEGGING for her to drop a pop bawp and refuse to stream anything, but pop music from her, will find another excuse once the song is out and they nitpick everything about it and find the smallest detail to bitch about and ditch the song after a day or two. it’s always the same thing, LMs cry about her not delivering, but when the times comes barely any of them stream, buy and support her music at all lol. it’s literally the GP that has been carrying Gaga’s career over the past few years, gen z making Bloody Mary and Judas go viral, str8s stanning the **** out of ASIB and DWAS… while the loudest minority of LMs can’t just shut up for a second and support ONE personal and passionate project of hers that she launched RIGHT BEFORE dropping another pop record. like, get a grip.15 points

We already know that Gaga has so many different sides to her career, but it’s truly amazing to see that this year she delivered on ALL fronts. I’m honestly so proud of her. - a pop smash hit among the general public: Die with a Smile - a leading acting role: Joker - a Jazz album: Harlequin - a pop song for her pop fans: LG7 lead in October (plus LG7 so soon) This is a huge feat and I can’t imagine anyone else on earth accomplishing this in one calendar year. We are so used to waiting years for Gaga to reinvent herself, but it’s sooo cool to see her exploring all her different talents at the SAME TIME. This year is so historic for her, and for the human race 😉15 points

I mean, is not THAT bad. There's obviously some sort of fandom she still has; between rock in rio, her tour in australia and this numbers. She's defintely a C list pop figure now, though.14 points

I hope we can move past always comparing Gaga's performance to Katy. It's tiring. And in fact, it seems you all are falling for the trap they're setting up because those albums could not be any more different from each other.13 points

Katy Perry lands her sixth top 10-charting effort on the Billboard 200 as her new studio album 143 debuts at No. 6. The set earned 48,000 equivalent album units in the tracking week ending Sept. 26. Of that sum, album sales comprise 37,500 (her best sales week since 2017), SEA units comprise 10,000 (equaling 13.11 million streams of the album’s songs) and TEA units comprise 500.11 points

The ~100M listeners is not an automatic captive audience. Those are not people who signed up to the fanbase or followed her. That's a metric of people who in the PAST MONTH listened to a Lady Gaga song in one way or another, and we all know she gained that because she has a hit song that the GP probably listen to casually, and by the way, is in a completely different genre. In fact, Katy (34.39M) has a bigger following count on Spotify than Gaga (31.72M).11 points

Y'all need to stop comparing her to Katy Perry, forreal It's been 10 years since "Roar vs Applause". Move on already. You're making us look even more insecure.11 points

sales don't necessarily mean the product is bad but in this case the sales and the product are terrible9 points

If anything, a better comparison would be vs. similar genres, her past jazz albums, or other soundtracks. It's okay to be disappointed with streams, for sure. But at least have a better reference point than Katy Perry's 143.9 points

I understand the lack of interest in jazz music, people are going to listen to whatever pleases them the most and that’s fair. Even Gaga mentioned the LM who are and aren’t jazz fans. My point was more about being in a fan site where people supposedly support Gaga’s work and yet in every thread there are complainers taking for granted anything that isn’t pop related. Just look at all the hate Joanne, C2C and L4S get from this fanbase. Following her career in all its nuances is super exciting, but the person who is strictly focused on pop music is the same person who complained “Gaga hasn’t released new music in 4 years” or “Gaga doesn’t care about music anymore” and on and on. And there are so many great things beyond pop music. Gaga is a once in a lifetime artist and her artistry should be valued in all its content. I think you understand what I mean9 points

Meh dunno if I agree with that. Clogging or not... if those are the most popular songs, the chart should reflect that, not filter them out just to give newer songs a chance to chart. Then the rankings dont mean as much8 points

Of course, Gaga would exceed my expectations! She always does this. Why was I even worried? I said 4 to 6 million at most, only for Gaga to pull a 7 million on Spotify in just 1 day.8 points
