I don’t think this is an indicator how “prevalent” Gaga is the movie, more so it’s smarter to submit her for supporting so that her chances of winning are higher. Technically the movie is marketed as having 2 leads and that may be true but Gaga’s chances of winning for a lead role in a movie that will probably not be insanely acclaimed is just asking for 0 chances of winning it. This is just her third big role y’all, give her some time.

Gaga is the type that dedicates her all towards a role, I’m sure she knew from the get go what she was getting herself into. Also doubt anyone would dare to waste her time like that. Also even if we assume her involvement is a few scenes here and there, it would be more iconic. There’s never too small of a role. Many supporting actors have outshined the leads in countless movies and went on to get bigger projects pitched to them. I repeat, Gaga’s still new to Hollywood y’all give her some time. Her breakthrough role is probably some time away, she needs to build from experience. Enjoy Joker and LG7, we haven’t had anything in 5 years almost. This is a great time to be a Gaga fan.

The concerns that lg7 lead might pale in comparison to DWAS are valid but I feel like we don't give ourselves credit as a fanbase. I'm sorry but we single handedly carried DWAS first week numbers. We've never had a problem giving Gaga a good debut and if the song is objectively good it usually carries through on its own. The fact that perfect illusion which was basically initially recieved negatively still debuted at no15 when Gaga was coming new to streaming with a song that sounded nothing like what was on the radio is kind of a flex on our part. Also stupid love leaked a month before release and most of us already had the song in full for weeks but we still took it to no 5 on the first week despite the lukewarm reception and bad video I just pray she picked the right lead this time

It is a weird one, because when the first trailer was released it was obvious her role was much more than ‘supporting’. I can only imagine that Joaquin’s meddling changed the direction of the film in post production which is a shame.
