i feel like beyoncé is a good example of how you can have kids and still make great art. madonna was another before her (ray of light came out after her daughter was born, as did music and confessions, three of her better more acclaimed albums). if anything, motherhood made both of these women more interesting musically for some reason.22 points

Kendrick is the most popular and reputable rapper and has been since 2010s. I think people on this site who tend to gravitate towards listening to predominantly or sometimes exclusively main pop girls are out of touch with what resonates with the GP. Rap is way more dominant than dance pop in the mainstream audience.18 points

After the Friday night world premiere of the Disney+ documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late,” the music legend appeared to take a subtle dig at Trump. “Kindness will always win out… that’s what I hope for the American election in November,” said John, who in 2022 was awarded the National Humanities Medal by President Joe Biden. https://variety.com/2024/film/news/elton-john-donald-trump-kim-jong-un-nickname-brilliant-rocket-man-1236136630/ Let’s not jump to conclusions and take misleading quotes and threads seriously please13 points

Some of y’all need to be more patient. It’s consistently rising on radio with sizable gains. It’s on 5 different formats with Urban and Rhythmic being usually hit or miss with Gaga. It’s been steadily rising in streams and on a global scale has yet to peak in Europe and Latin America. Streams on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music have been incredibly consistent and strong. The songs of the summer are slowly fading. Fingers crossed for a filmed performance being aired at the VMAs with an official YouTube upload of a live performance the Friday after.11 points

I appreciate y’all so much I started reading this thread and oooo lawddd I was so ready to wack some h0es on here . I’m glad y’all aren’t delusional like some other people on here . There’s still hope here in GGD . As a fan of his, I’m so excited for Kendrick to perform . I personally think he’s the greatest rapper of all time. All his albums have been bangers back to back. I honestly hated the fact he did the Super Bowl with Dr. Dre, he was like on there for 2 minutes as a guest. Knowing he can give more, I was hoping one day the NFL would reconsider and let be him a headliner. My wish came true . Also very excited for him to perform “Not Like Us” in front of the whole world and Drake will be seething in his living room10 points

Could LG7 be an evolution of the original LG5? Here’s why I think it might be: LG5 was originally inspired by Gaga’s role in AHS. She said herself that The Countess inspired her to return to the Art of Darkness. At the time, the album was said to include a song titled “Vampire” and we also have confirmation that “Frankenstein(ed)” was produced by RedOne and was a continuation and elevation of their classic sound. We know that LG7 is very likely to be inspired by dark themes, as well as her role as Harley Quinn, which feels very familiar to how LG5 was originally conceived. From the rumoured titles alone, we can see a clear theme forming: Notorious Being: monsters are notorious, otherworldly beings (like vampires) Abracadabra: ties into magic potions and witches Garden of Eden: continues a mythological focus Dance In The Shadow: clearly a dark theme Whilst I’m not saying that “Vampire” or “Frankensteined” will be on LG7, it’s clear how these song titles could all fit together and come from the same place as those listed above. There’s also the fact that the only trusted description of any LG7 track we have (from the Vogue interview) described it as “intense and ominous—an old-school Gaga banger, unsettling but also buoyant.” This is akin to how RedOne described “Frankensteined”, which suggests again that Gaga may be taking some inspiration from those early LG5 sessions. The only ‘original LG5’ song that saw the light of day was “Angel Down”, a song about innocent people getting caught up in the world’s chaos. What’s reminded me of the original LG5 this week is Gaga’s referencing of “chaos” again, which is something she referred a lot to during 2014-15, so much so that many thought she was hinting at her next album title. In Gaga’s recent Vogue interview, she said: “I had a different experience creating her, namely my experience with mania and chaos inside—for me, it creates a quietness.” She also briefly mentioned it in this clip too. Now, I’m not saying that LG7 will be titled “Chaos” but I think it’s interesting for her to talk about this again when the last time she did so was in the run up to what we thought would be the dark-inspired LG5, just as she had finished filming AHS. So the parallels are there. As a reminder, the idea at the time was that LG5 would address the darkness within Gaga’s life and how she had to rebuild herself after the chaos of the storm that was ARTPOP. We theorised that the album could be inspired by chaos theory, which is more commonly known as the butterfly effect: the idea that actions will always have unintended consequences. We have recently watched Gaga rebuild her own life after lots of actions and decisions took her down a very unintended path. Could LG7 therefore maybe be linked to chaos theory, in the same way LG5 was? And whilst it may seem odd for Gaga to revisit a concept from over ten years ago, I think it’s worth noting that for the past decade, she’s wanted to escape “Gaga” as much as possible. This is why we had Joanne and it’s also why Chromatica was so hard for her to make. But now she’s feeling inspired again and seems to have been able to reconcile herself with this “being” she’s created, maybe she felt that now was the right time to revisit a theme, concept and maybe even some songs from the past that she really only turned her back on because they were too “Gaga”, not because she didn’t love them. After all, according to RedOne, the songs they first produced for LG5 were ‘old-school’ Gaga. Just like LG7’s lead has been described. I think there’s definitely something in this. It also just occurred to me that if Gaga really did ‘open up the vault’ for LG7, perhaps her secret project really could be an album dedicated to unreleased tracks she now feels able to release? That wouldn’t be so unprecedented nowadays, after what Taylor has done (who Gaga has expressed admiration and fondness of more than once in the past year).9 points

I've been reflecting on this new era over the past week, and something just clicked for me...could Gaga have subtly hinted at the title of her new album through her Vogue cover? Now, this might be a bit of a stretch, so take it with a grain of salt: Could LG7 be called Shape Shifter? Now hear me out: The idea of Gaga’s new album being titled Shape Shifter feels like a natural fit, especially when you consider her career-long theme of transformation and reinvention. From the very beginning, Gaga has defied categorisation, constantly evolving not just in her music but in her persona, style, and artistry. She has never allowed herself to be boxed into one identity or sound. Each era feels like an entirely new exploration of her creativity. A title like Shape Shifter would encapsulate this journey of constant change, symbolizing her fluidity as an artist who adapts, evolves, and defies expectations with every project. Moreover, Gaga has often played with the idea of identity, from her early days challenging gender norms to embracing avant-garde fashion, to her transition into acting and more classical forms of music. In that sense, Shape Shifter would reflect not only her ability to transform but also her ability to shift between different forms of artistic expression, always maintaining a core essence but never remaining static. This could also be Gaga’s take on a "self-titled" album, but with a twist. Instead of simply naming it Gaga, she could be conveying that her true identity is that of someone who is constantly shifting and evolving, making Shape Shifter a deeper reflection of her persona. It would speak to her refusal to be confined by a single identity or label, embracing the freedom to reinvent herself again and again. Perhaps it's too on the nose but it's just a theory whilst we wait around for actual confirmation!9 points

40,000 Palestinian deaths is just a number to these people. Israel has revealed itself to be on a colonization goal and it was never about the hostages or keeping Israelis safe. There’s more than enough evidence today that Netanyahu funded Hamas and thwarted efforts for a more peaceful Palestinian leadership. As we speak, they are attacking the West Bank where there is no Hamas. They just view any and all resistance against Israeli aggression as “terrorism”.9 points

I have a similar theory in a sense that when she was talking about finding the joy in making pop music - what could be more joyous than having happy employees, so I think the album is gonna be called Shift Shaper and it's gonna be about how to be a cool boss9 points
