  4. I love how we rarely get songs with ā€œfeat. Lady Gagaā€ because we think she rejects so many collabs but these usually go like this. Bruno called her, went to his studio and ended up finishing the song. The Rolling Stones were also recording music and she just happened to pass by and did harmonies and they told her to record with them. Etc. I just think itā€™s so fun how she picks these or they end up happening. And itā€™s usually with legend acts so thatā€™s even better.

  6. https://variety.com/2024/music/news/lady-Gaga-bruno-mars-die-with-a-smile-video-1236108658/ After a week full of teases the wait is over: Lady Gaga and Bruno Marsā€™ duet, ā€œDie With a Smile,ā€ dropped on Thursday night and itā€™s as big a song as one would expect from this mega-tag-team. While the look for the video is ā€˜70s country, the song itself is a soulful ballad in the mold of Marsā€™ Soul Sonic project of 2021 ā€” soaring vocals, a big chorus, gently strummed guitars and a sky-scraping climax on the final chorus. He takes the first verse and Gaga the second, and from there the two play off of each othersā€™ powerful vocals. The video, however, is styled more like a ā€™70s Nashville television appearance, with all of the players in matching light blue suits with red shirts ā€” Gagaā€™s hair is stacked into a Dolly Parton-style pile while Mars sports a white cowboy hat and strums a beautiful vintage hollow-body electric guitar. She delivers the last verse with a cigarette clenched in her teeth and the clips concludes with the pair inside an animated heart. Indeed, according to the press release, the song started with Mars. Gaga said, ā€œBruno and I have a lot of mutual respect for each other and were talking about collaborating. I was finishing up my own album in Malibu and one night after a long day he asked me to come to his studio to hear something he was working on. It was around midnight when I got there and I was blown away when I heard what he had started making. We stayed up all night and finished writing and recording the song. Brunoā€™s talent is beyond explanation. His musicianship and vision is next level. Thereā€™s no one like him.ā€ Mars added, ā€œGetting to work with Gaga has been an honor. Sheā€™s an icon and she makes this song magical. Iā€™m so excited for everyone to hear it.ā€ The song was co-produced by the artists with 2021 Grammy-winning producer of the year Andrew Watt (Post Malone, Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, the latest Rolling Stones album) and Dā€™Mile (who also co-produced and co-wrote most of the Silk Sonic album, as well as H.E.R.ā€™s ā€œI Canā€™t Breatheā€); Watt also played lead guitar and Dā€™Mile played bass and drums. Gaga, Mars, Dā€™Mile and Watt wrote the song with James Fauntleroy (Mars, Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Beyonce, SZA, Kendrick Lamar and many others). Gaga, of course, is starring in the upcoming comic book musical ā€œJoker: Folie ƀ Deux,ā€ which features singing but is ā€œunlike anything Iā€™ve ever done before,ā€ she said recently in an interview with Empire. The Grammy and Oscar winner stars opposite Joaquin Phoenix in the movie as Lee, a reimagining of Harley Quinn. The new song with Mars seems to be completely unrelated to the film, although its title is certainly on-theme for the Joker.

  18. (I only included the parts I thought were highlights from the review) CLASH Verdict: Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars ā€“ ā€˜Die With A Smileā€™ ā€˜Die With A Smileā€™ is a one-off, a solitary pop star in an otherwise jet black sky ā€“ penned during one lengthy overnight session, it brings together Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, two artists whose walls are packed with gold records. Somehow, it becomes more than the sum of its parts ā€“ a homage to those lush 70s duets, it also feels profoundly modern; both artists shine, but thereā€™s an undoubted chemistry here that lets ā€˜Die With A Smileā€™ have a character of its own. Bruno Mars leads the intro with a theatrical turn, before their voices blend to profound effect on the line ā€œthatā€™s where Iā€™ll followā€. Lady Gaga has a rich history of duets, whether thatā€™s her Tony Bennett collaborations or her turn with Bradley Cooper on A Star Is Born. Thereā€™s a feeling of mutual respect on this latest single, with both artists serving to push each other to different spaces. Itā€™s camp in places, but thatā€™s simple exuberant fun and hyped-up colour ā€“ the essential songwriting remains intact, plucking at those heartstrings. A single built out of ā€œmutual respectā€, ā€˜Die With A Smileā€™ exists on its own terms. Criss-crossing between dream pop production aspects, and those June & Johnny Cash moments, it pulls from the past before exploding outwards into its own timeline. An unexpected triumph, one that leans on the strengths of both artists, before presenting something new. 8/10 by Robin Murray See the full review below: https://www.clashmusic.com/reviews/clash-verdict-lady-Gaga-bruno-mars-die-with-a-smile/ I would like to add that this review counts and as the first official review the Critics Score is now at 80/100. 19. Wow I did not see that coming, a lot of you dont like it. I like it a lot. I've already played it 8 times. I love their harmonies together. In a pop landscape where there's barely any actual singing or melodies anymore, its a breath of fresh air. I enjoy this a lot. Its so weird that so many fans from GAGAdaily dont like it but praise certain artists to high heavens even when they are not chart successful or can barely sing or just an expert at sampling songs but maybe its just a matter of preference. I hope Gaga continues to make whatever music she wants, especially ballads considering her ballads have become her most successful songs in recent years and connects well with the general public.

  23. Alberto Barbera reveals how he made the Italian festival the hottest spot to debut a filmā€”and how it will juggle having both Brad and Angelina on the carpet. Every year, there are headline-grabbing moments in Venice like Lady Gaga on a boat. Do you have a favorite moment like that from the last couple of years? Well, you mentioned Lady Gaga. I think that is a perfect example of a very special moment. Do you remember the red carpet of A Star Is Born? It was magic, because she was on the red carpet with this beautiful white dress with feathers and so on, and then it started to rain, but she didn't want to leave the red carpet. She stayed on the red carpet taking photos, signing autographs and so on. And then she was completely wet. So she came to my office, trying to dry herself and gown. And Bradley Cooper was outside with me, discussing the film and the expectation around the film. And then she came out of the office, and she was trembling, and he said, "Oh, I don't understand why. You should be used to this, being in concerts with hundreds of thousands of people waiting for you." She told me, "Yeah, of course, but this is my first time in a film." So she was shaking, but then of course the response of the critics and the audience to the film was so fantastic. It was a beautiful evening for everybody. Sheā€™ll be back with Joker: Folie ƀ Deux this year. The first film was a bit polarizing when it premiered at Venice. Do you anticipate the sequel to get a similar reaction? Yes, I think so. If you expect just a second part of the previous one, exactly the same kind of narrative and situation and so on, you are wrong, because the theme is much darker. It is much more inventive from every point of view. It's completely unexpected. I think it is very bold, and brave, and creative, and an incredibly original film. https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/story/venice-film-festivals-artistic-director-interview-awards-insider
