  4. • Belle, 48, has bought every “The Tortured Poets Department” (TTPD) variant except the regular CDs and Target exclusives. She says she’s “always been fascinated by Taylor’s brain, just the way her mind works.” And she became particularly interested watching Swift’s love story with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce unfold. She views the variants as part of Taylor’s tried-and-true album formula. Belle is all-in collecting the “TTPD” variants and knows there’s likely more in store. “I feel like I should just have all of them." “In the past, when she’s dropped something, I’ve ordered the vinyl, the cassette and the CD. But with this album, I was really excited about it because it was an experience with my daughter and a bonding thing.” At the start of the rollout, Belle bought simply the initial collector’s edition CD, the 1st vinyl piece to include a bonus track and the cassette. “And then Taylor dropped the 2nd one. And I did the same thing. And then she dropped the 3rd one. And then I was like, ‘Well, I think I’m just gonna order the vinyl and the collector CD and not the cassette.’ And I was like, ‘Why am I trying to save 20 bucks?’ Like, that’s just ridiculous, you know? And then the fourth one, obviously, you have to have all of them. And then she dropped the case to put them in. So we did that. And then I didn’t order the single when it 1st released, because I don’t really like CDs. … But then she dropped the ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ acoustic, and my daughter was like, ‘You have to order that one. That’s your favorite song. Order that.’ And then I went back and was like, ‘Well, I might as well order the acoustic,’” she says. “I’ve never done this with another thing where I felt like I needed to have all the versions.” • Stephanie, 33, has bought all of the “TTPD” physical media, but not the digital versions of the variants. “I would love to buy [them too] if I had the money, but I have to be selective with what I’m purchasing. I had to hold out on those,” she says. Stephanie bought a resale copy of “Lover [Live From Paris]” for around $700 and estimates she’s paid around $10,000 for all of Swift’s eras. “My mom even will tell me, like, ‘You’d go broke for her if you could,’ and I’m like, ‘Well, I’m kind of almost,’” she says with a laugh. “To me, it’s like, you can always make more money. I work for a school district and do Uber Eats on the side — I can always do more Uber if I need to. But you can’t always get those experiences back. And you can’t always buy resale [physical copies] for a reasonable price.” Stephanie says there’s a feeling of “Christmas morning” when Taylor drops new music. When receiving a new variant with a bonus track in the mail, it’s “very exciting to be able to see, ‘Okay, what did she do in this one that makes it different?’ And, ‘Is this gonna be my new favorite?’ Or is it gonna be, ‘Okay, I like the original better.’ And just that anticipation of seeing what it’s gonna be.” Stephanie enjoys contributing to Swift’s success. “[...] I feel like now with ‘TTPD,’ there’s an even bigger potential to really make a mark in the industry. And she continues setting a new bar. And it’s pretty cool to be able to contribute to that and be like, ‘Wow, I helped make that happen.’” Stephanie expresses doubt that the variants could be a master plan to prevent other artists from achieving No. 1. “I don’t think that it’s possible for Taylor to intentionally block things,” she says. • Emiley, 31, is longtime Swiftie, also appreciates the effort that goes into all of Swift’s variants. “Each one typically has its own artwork and fresh photos that make it unique. So I know her team puts a lot of work into that. And I just think it’s really special to be able to have the entire collection and appreciate it as a whole instead of just having one individual [album],” she says. Every Swiftie was well aware of the backlash the singer has received for the variants. “Being an artist, your goal is to be on the charts. …Taylor tends to draw in criticism no matter what she does. And I think it’s just a part of how big her status is as a celebrity. People are gonna find things to pick out, no matter what,” Emiley says, pointing out that variants in sports cards and video games don’t receive the same criticism.“ • Stacey, 27, says that some of the criticism is “valid” and that she eventually had to cancel some of her “Tortured Poet” purchases. “When they started releasing digital variants where you had to buy the ‘TTPD’ album 3 more times just to get 3 separate voice memos, it was a little bit much, as they were charging $5.99 per digital album. I had to draw a line somewhere.” Stacey estimates she’s spent a few hundred dollars on the “Tortured Poets” era.

  5. Britney Spears has finally reconciled with her estranged sons Sean Preston and Jayden Federline, and has been secretly speaking to them for months - even visiting them in Hawaii and arranging meet-ups in California, insiders have revealed. The 42-year-old pop princess has been extremely vocal in recent years about her strained relationship with Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden, 17, who she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline, 46. Now a well connected family insider has told DailyMail.com exclusively that Britney and her teenage boys are 'fully back on track,' two years after Jayden voiced his hopes for a reconciliation with his mother. 'Britney has been speaking to, and working on, her relationship with Sean Preston and Jayden for months now,' the insider said. 'The boys have so much love for their mother, as she does for them. Things are fully back on track and they are looking forward to the future together.' According to a second source close to the family, Britney's older brother Bryan Spears, 47, was behind the long-awaited reunion. 'Bryan was instrumental in facilitating their reunion,' they said. 'He cares so much for Britney and about his nephews. 'She wanted to keep this quiet because she didn't want it to jeopardize their chances of reconciliation, but she's actually been back to being their mom again since February.' Happy for her

  26. And this is exactly why after all these years Elton is still relevant as f*ck! Elton was one of the legends Gaga worshipped in the beginning of her career that accepted her adoration and turned it into a deep and meaningful friendship. Wish we could say the same about some of the other legends, but it was their loss in the end!

  34. People bullying a new mom for getting out there and performing, even though she isn't as "famous" as she used to be? YAWN. Are we still doing this? Can we just start appreciating people who grind and pursue their gift/passion, and not try to humiliate every person who ends up in unfortunate or embarrassing situations? People rise and they fall, and lots of times they rise again. Get over it. It's just nasty behaviour. I feel like we're better than this. I am anyway

  37. So my brother has gotten me into Chappell Roan's music and he pointed out to me how some of her work has an essence of Gaga from Pre The Fame - The Fame in terms of production. I've come across a few examples which I wanna share just for fun. Not doing this comparison with a bad intention (in case this thread reaches twitter don't come for me plsss) more of an appreciation to this style of music as we're witnessing the rise of a new pop girl Red Wine Supernova and Femininomenon & Disco Heaven / Sexy Ugly It's def a mix of the talkative bridge with layered vocals, I can also see a bit of similarity in the production which i love. Also, synths, spelling of lyrics, etc. Overall, I feel like Gaga demos from that time have some of that vibe

  38. So this year marks the 10 year anniversary of the artRAVE, so I've been watching a lot of videos and reminiscing on this tour. I always noticed a change in tone from the early shows to the later shows, and I've come to a realization that the way this tour evolved is a beautiful representation of this era and everything that it was about, whether it was intentional or unintentional. (This goes in depth, so feel free to read the end of this post to summarize what I think this all means.) For one, I always noticed that the energy at the later shows was quite different than the early shows, and how Gaga started dancing more, screaming commands to the crowd. At the early shows, a simple "Can you hear me? I want to see everyone standing up!" before G.U.Y., whereas at the later shows, she screams/almost shrieks at times as she yells "WELCOME TO THE ARTRAVE! I WANNA SEE YOUR F**KIN HANDS UP! RAVE! RAVE! RAVE!" In addition to this, her choreography during the opening song, ARTPOP, sees a change that may seem subtle, but always stood out to me. In the beginning, she would have nearly still, very subtle movements at the start of the song, not addressing the crowd, just making subtle movements during lyrics like "sometimes the simplest move is right" (As seen below) This is a stark contrast from her commanding the crowd loudly prior to the song even starting, with her giving in and dancing more aggressively to the beat at later shows (seen below) This new more harsh and aggressive energy is seen visually not only in the choreography, but in her look as well. For example, earlier shows had a softer makeup look, which later was swapped for a sharper eye, a darker lipstick, and septum piercing. Before: After: This change is also seen in the setlist. In early shows she sang Fashion! and the underground, unreleased Cake Like Lady Gaga. The only ARTPOP track not included was Dope, which she stated was due to not wanting the show to get too heavy. Later on, Fashion! and Cake were swapped for Dope, along with Judas, The Edge of Glory, You and I, and Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down). Personally, I think this signifies how at the start of the tour, much like at the start of the ARTPOP era (or at least its creation), she was feeling heavy emotions and just wanted to find beats to dance to her that would help take her out of her funk. The show is a constant party with no real sad note. She also had a defiant side of her, saying f*** you pop music, this is ARTPOP," leaving out multiple hit singles and older songs in exchange for a show that was primarily centered around ARTPOP. She even included Cake, possibly as a treat for fans and a nod to the wealth of experimental creations that never saw the light of day. But as the tour goes on, the heaviness slowly creeps in with Dope, TEOG, and even Judas is much darker than the colorful ARTPOP tracks. Maybe bringing back more popular songs from BTW was due to the public wanting older songs, or showing more love to older songs, or maybe I'm reading too much into it and she just wanted to reminisce on these tracks. But with the addition of Bang Bang, the setlist clearly gradually became more and more chaotic, showing more and more sides of her career.\ --- To summarize, I feel that the tour started with a clear, strong vision, and Gaga was laser focused in on that vision, as she is with all of her projects. This is seen in the subtleties in her movements, she is focused and honed in on the subtle details of the performance. This reflects the start of a bold, defiant era that had a strong, clear vision. As the label threw its thoughts into the mix, and the turmoil of the album's creation (and release, and reception, etc.) unfolded, the era got "messier" for lack of a better term. It was chaotic, many fans wanted the old Gaga, no one knew the direction it was going in, and the heaviness and trauma became all encompassing what that album represents for her even to this day. This is seen as the tour goes on, with edgier, more chaotic looks, movements, overall energy, and a new setlist that encompasses that heaviness and even the yearning for older days of Gaga. As someone who attended an early artRAVE show, watching the final Paris livestream feels like an entirely different show almost, not just from the setlist and outfits, but Gaga's energy, vibe, and persona onstage. Thinking this deeply about it makes me really realize just how brilliant the tour is. It either intentionally grew to represent the different stages of the era, or Gaga was open enough at the time to let these influences blend into the show, creating a tour that now is essentially a piece of art marking the journey of one of the most brilliant, incredible, tumultuous eras in modern pop history. If you read all of this, thank you haha
