  5. It's easy to replace TS just find someone bland, appealing to masses, mediocre, boring to death and the most important - master of making herself a victim. There's plenty of people in this queue.

  9. • Belle, 48, has bought every “The Tortured Poets Department” (TTPD) variant except the regular CDs and Target exclusives. She says she’s “always been fascinated by Taylor’s brain, just the way her mind works.” And she became particularly interested watching Swift’s love story with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce unfold. She views the variants as part of Taylor’s tried-and-true album formula. Belle is all-in collecting the “TTPD” variants and knows there’s likely more in store. “I feel like I should just have all of them." “In the past, when she’s dropped something, I’ve ordered the vinyl, the cassette and the CD. But with this album, I was really excited about it because it was an experience with my daughter and a bonding thing.” At the start of the rollout, Belle bought simply the initial collector’s edition CD, the 1st vinyl piece to include a bonus track and the cassette. “And then Taylor dropped the 2nd one. And I did the same thing. And then she dropped the 3rd one. And then I was like, ‘Well, I think I’m just gonna order the vinyl and the collector CD and not the cassette.’ And I was like, ‘Why am I trying to save 20 bucks?’ Like, that’s just ridiculous, you know? And then the fourth one, obviously, you have to have all of them. And then she dropped the case to put them in. So we did that. And then I didn’t order the single when it 1st released, because I don’t really like CDs. … But then she dropped the ‘But Daddy I Love Him’ acoustic, and my daughter was like, ‘You have to order that one. That’s your favorite song. Order that.’ And then I went back and was like, ‘Well, I might as well order the acoustic,’” she says. “I’ve never done this with another thing where I felt like I needed to have all the versions.” • Stephanie, 33, has bought all of the “TTPD” physical media, but not the digital versions of the variants. “I would love to buy [them too] if I had the money, but I have to be selective with what I’m purchasing. I had to hold out on those,” she says. Stephanie bought a resale copy of “Lover [Live From Paris]” for around $700 and estimates she’s paid around $10,000 for all of Swift’s eras. “My mom even will tell me, like, ‘You’d go broke for her if you could,’ and I’m like, ‘Well, I’m kind of almost,’” she says with a laugh. “To me, it’s like, you can always make more money. I work for a school district and do Uber Eats on the side — I can always do more Uber if I need to. But you can’t always get those experiences back. And you can’t always buy resale [physical copies] for a reasonable price.” Stephanie says there’s a feeling of “Christmas morning” when Taylor drops new music. When receiving a new variant with a bonus track in the mail, it’s “very exciting to be able to see, ‘Okay, what did she do in this one that makes it different?’ And, ‘Is this gonna be my new favorite?’ Or is it gonna be, ‘Okay, I like the original better.’ And just that anticipation of seeing what it’s gonna be.” Stephanie enjoys contributing to Swift’s success. “[...] I feel like now with ‘TTPD,’ there’s an even bigger potential to really make a mark in the industry. And she continues setting a new bar. And it’s pretty cool to be able to contribute to that and be like, ‘Wow, I helped make that happen.’” Stephanie expresses doubt that the variants could be a master plan to prevent other artists from achieving No. 1. “I don’t think that it’s possible for Taylor to intentionally block things,” she says. • Emiley, 31, is longtime Swiftie, also appreciates the effort that goes into all of Swift’s variants. “Each one typically has its own artwork and fresh photos that make it unique. So I know her team puts a lot of work into that. And I just think it’s really special to be able to have the entire collection and appreciate it as a whole instead of just having one individual [album],” she says. Every Swiftie was well aware of the backlash the singer has received for the variants. “Being an artist, your goal is to be on the charts. …Taylor tends to draw in criticism no matter what she does. And I think it’s just a part of how big her status is as a celebrity. People are gonna find things to pick out, no matter what,” Emiley says, pointing out that variants in sports cards and video games don’t receive the same criticism.“ • Stacey, 27, says that some of the criticism is “valid” and that she eventually had to cancel some of her “Tortured Poet” purchases. “When they started releasing digital variants where you had to buy the ‘TTPD’ album 3 more times just to get 3 separate voice memos, it was a little bit much, as they were charging $5.99 per digital album. I had to draw a line somewhere.” Stacey estimates she’s spent a few hundred dollars on the “Tortured Poets” era.

  12. Remember the meltdowns over this song back in like June 2016? I actually really liked this song, I'm sad it turned out to be a fake leak. With all the teasings about the next era, I feel like this is going to be the vibe/sound of the next record and I'm really excited about that. We can finally listen to 'All Mine' as if it were an actual Lady Gaga song!!

  13. Hello Monsters! I feel like Joanne doesn’t get all the love it deserves. So I invite you to praise this marvelous album! Come on Joanners, I know you’re out there! What are your impressions on each track? I’m curious to know! For me, Joanne took Gaga’s artistic ability to another level. The way she channeled pain, grief, sadness and tragedy to put this album together was magical. It flows so perfectly well between country, jazz, soft rock and R&B! She can truly sing anything! So without further ado: heeeere we go! Diamond Heart: the production and the instrumentation are the highlights. The line I’m not be flawless but I got a diamond heart is iconic! Some asshole broke me in / wrecked all my innocence always gets me A-YO: one of my favorites from Joanne! LOVE everything about it: her vocals, the lyrics, the handclaps, the guitar solos! A must-listen! Joanne: the fact that she made a tribute to her family’s tragedy is so moving! Every part of my aching heart needs you more than the angels do is so relatable to anyone who has experienced grief. The acoustic guitar instrumentation blends perfectly with her vocals. John Wayne: the drum beats makes it such a enjoyable song! And the intro where she screams can you go a little faster raises my spirit every time! The MV was the best from this era. Dancin’ In Circles: her whispering tune, the double entendre, I can’t! Also It was cool she got to work with Beck, one of her biggest idols. I think it was one of those moments in her career when she got to think “I made it!” Perfect Illusion: an underrated anthem! The punk-rock influence, the production and the vocals are the highlights. My guessing game is strong / way too real to be wrong / caught up in your show yeah at least now I know. Love the rhyme quality! Million Reasons: I’m a ballad girl, so this is one of my favorites from her discography. Gaga + piano is everything to me! She nailed it with her vocal powerhouse! Can’t say I’m a fan of the MV though. Sinner’s Prayer: also an underrated song yet so pleasing to the ears! The intro serves that western, folky swing matching the main visual for the era (the famous pink hat). I really like the lyricism of it. The register change in the final chorus is my favorite part of the song. Come to Mama: I simply love the fact she calls herself mama in this one. Tell me who hurt you gives such a maternal vibe, almost an ode to little monsters! The lyric addresses important matters but at the same time it gives a cheerful feeling. The energy the drums and the sax brings to the song is life giving! Hey Girl: I’m a huge fan of Florence Welch so this duet has my heart! The vocals blend together beautifully and the lyrics are meaningful and relevant. The hey girl, if you lose your way just know that I got you sums up what sisterhood means to me! Angel Down: I love when she uses her voice and her art to address important matters, claiming for political and social improvements. A beautiful yet tragic ballad. Again, Gaga + piano is the best combo. Grigio Girls: such a cheerful tune that ended up being a farewell. Glad that Sonja got to be honored and celebrated with this song while she was still alive. Just Another Day: Finally, my favorite track from Joanne! LOVE that jazzy atmosphere, the lyrics which I can relate so much, her stunning vocals, the trumpet, the instrumental bridge! Makes me crave for a Gaga solo jazz album! Honorable mention: the visuals for the era! I loved seeing this raw version of Gaga, it made me feel more connected and relatable to her. That was when I truly became a fan!

  20. I'm all for defending your favorite, but you can't tell me that what he (or his daughter) said warrants this behavior from the fans. It is thanks to these types of people that I am no longer active on Twitter. I wanted to write a hell of a lot more, but I am just so tired of having to explain to grown adults that their Twitter beefs are embarrassing.

  24. I like espresso and she seems sweet, but what is the hype about SC… honestly? Not being mean, I just don’t get it. Similarly, Chappell Roan has ONE big song (just ONE, fight me) and people are already calling her the “next Gaga” 🤣 I know a lot of music fans are bored… but can we wait for these musicians to EARN their places on pedestals? There hasn’t been a new, genuine pop superstar in years. Billie & Dua maybe Olivia Sabrina Carpenter is talented & will likely be more than a “one hit wonder,” but she is not a superstar… let alone a threat to TS lol Oh my god why am I letting Azealia’s POV matter to me at all? 🙃

  25. Val Garland, known for doing Gaga's makeup for the Monster Ball interludes as well as videos like Alejandro and You & I, sat down with Caroline Hiron to talk about makeup and style trends Starting at about 16:40, Val describes how she created a meat outfit for a party during her raver days and when retelling this to Gaga, Gaga asked if she could borrow the idea... and the rest is herstory
