DJ White Shadow, who collaborated with Gaga on Born This Way, ARTPOP and ASIB, recently won a ASCAP Pop Music Award for his work on ''Bloody Mary''. In a thank you post on his Instagram account, he said: ''THANK YOU @ASCAP FOR THE AWARD. This track was a collab between me and Clinton Sparks, written over 14 years ago. I always held this song dear to my heart and it was my favorite part of the Born This Way Ball. We worked on this song and the Born This Way album for the better part of 3 years in almost every country in the world. I am so grateful. Thank you all for breathing life into #bloodymary again. Thank you to my sister @ladygaga Love you more than you know. (I CAME THROUGH THAT RED CARPET STUNTIN IN THE SKIRT SKIRT SKIIIIIIRT. @ysl @lisaluna.co is my stylist because she is a genius.'' In addition to the post, DJWS shared a screenshot of what appears to be a conversation with Gaga about the Bloody Mary ressurgence in 2022 after it went viral on Tiktok. Gaga says she loves him too and that they somehow always knew the song was special:53 points

I was scrolling through Gaga’s instagram since she unveiled last year why she had taken a social break and was looking at the post where she said she had began working on the Chromatica Ball special. and it occurred to me that she also stated in this same post that there was music for a special project. And she specifically separated this from her statement about her work for Joker 2. I have a feeling this was not referring to sweet sounds of heaven as that really didn’t eat much time into her schedule. I have a feeling there is a reason why this has been the longest break. I have a feeling there is a reason she has been teasing music since January and then suddenly stopped as she wrapped up editing the Chromatica ball. Perhaps, the 👹 that was keeping LG7 locked up was….the label or the process because the timing of releasing the footage coinciding with an album would make sense. And even the way she commented that insinuates that LG7 was already done. Maybe when she did the makeup tutorial last month and said “I’m working as fast as I can” it’s because she KNOWS that the Chromatica ball and LG7 were somehow commercially correlated. This would also explain the timeline of them holding off because of the whole UMG/TikTok thing that finally ended, and then we get a film announcement. Monsters….I think once the 👹 opens the gates up on HBO, the end of the special will include either a surprise announcement or a sneak into the world of LG7. My best guess: I think LG7 will be announced right after the special this Saturday, and will be released the following Friday, May 31st. This would be really smart promo for her next album to be honest because this is going to get people who already watch the special in middle America in-the-know about new Gaga music AND it will promo the HBO special and get people who want new Gaga music to watch it. I dunno….for some reason I think we are getting the album finally. Other coincidences: -The week before Pride (Queen of the gays) - Pretty much all of the major releases are now out of the way -It would give Gaga the entire summer and part of the fall to film videos (all she has is a few jazz dates) -why would she tease music so much and then suddenly stop? -Ending the Chromatica era like this and beginning a new era would be smart because it will feed into the new era22 points

I love the idea of it but... It´s Gaga... we shouldn't expect much more thant the chromatica ball film lol (and that's already a LOT!!)21 points

Off topic but I think Katy is aging so beautifully it's nice to see a woman approaching 40 with minimal filler and you can actually see her expression lines. She looks more like a real person17 points

I get what you are saying but let's not give Bart Baker a pass. Him and that whole parody era was heavily rooted in misogyny and slut shaming and everyone should be happy it's over (there was also occasional racism and queerphobia). Stan non-problematic people like Weird Al instead.16 points

They are so fucking insufferable my god. like everything they said could apply to any album and it's so easy to discard something good as 'it's trying too hard to be good' like what even is music criticism at this point15 points

Remember when BTW was supposed to have a lot more singles but the GP had no taste and let Marry the Night flop We were robbed of a proper Bloody Mary era14 points

I mean, I'd feel pretty proud voting for the one person standing in the way of an actual fascist, felonious rapist aiming to end our country as we know it. I think that person should be president. But that's just me I guess.13 points

This is the least we’ve known about Billie Eilishgoing into an album. For years, the star’s journey was documented in yearly Vanity Fair interviews and candid documentaries; even Carpool Karaokevisited Eilish’s childhood home, where she still lived until recently. That seeming lack of boundaries between the pop star and her audience is increasingly standard for megastars, but Eilish’s intimate music made her a particularly strong candidate for parasociality. Her 2021 album, Happier Than Ever, was largely a response to public scrutiny, more reserved and mature than her 2019 debut, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? In the ensuing years, Eilish kept a low profile, surfacing every now and then to soundtrack a Pixar film or win an Oscar before retreating to work on the next record. Thematically, HMHAS focuses mostly on falling out of love with a narcissist (as documented on “Blue”) and falling in love with a woman for the first time. Opener “Skinny” teases another record about the perils of fame, in the vein of Happier Than Ever, and it’s hard not to blame her: When Eilish casually confirmed her bisexuality in a larger Variety profile, that’s all the press wanted to talk about. When it’s addressed on the album, it’s on her own terms, as if the years of insensitive “queerbaiting” accusations never happened. It’s hard to stand out in the age of Spotify-sanctioned sapphic playlists, but “Lunch” is delightful for its matter-of-fact sexuality and the record’s best line deliveries: “I bought you something rare/And I left it under… Claire.” Though the syncopated piano and guitar riffs recall the most generic of 2010s alt-pop, Eilish maintains her irreverence with double entendres and zilch-entendres (“I just want to get her off,” she mumbles). The “Last Christmas” chord progression of “Birds of a Feather” feels engineered to soundtrack wistful coming-of-age stories, and sure enough, you’ll find it in the trailer for the wistful coming-of-age Netflix show Heartstopper. Both these songs are uniquely effervescent departures in her catalogue, but they never sound like a pop star playing catchup to pop radio—just the earnest enthusiasm of someone falling in love. Other times Billie and Finneas might as well have switched on a large neon sign that says “this is a masterpiece.” Sometimes that big ambition works: The moody “Chihiro” revisits the uptempo sound of early single “Bellyache” but swaps the acoustic guitars for big, expensive synths, making up for the lack of real chorus with density. Several multi-part suites feel like they’re just retreading familiar territory. Despite a career-best belt from Eilish, “The Greatest” can’t escape the shadow of “Happier Than Ever”; “Bittersuite” devolves from its deep-sea dub intro into “Billie Bossa Nova 2” before timidly segueing to the closer. The nadir is “L’Amour de Ma Vie,” a relatively standard breakup ballad with a second half marred by chintzy synths and production that tries for negative space and comes up empty: After years of reinventing bedroom pop for stadiums, Billie and Finneas finally made something that sounds thrown together in someone’s bedroom. Every song on this big album has some detail worth hearing, but the insistence on multipart epics and ballads kills the momentum. When “Wildflower” and “The Greatest” crescendo back to back, it gets aggravating. The much-hyped live instrumentation is more window dressing than it is integral to the artistry, and Jon Castelli’s brightly saturated mix leaves the extraneous elements to fight for space in the more crowded sections. All these enhancements cancel each other out until HMHAS is just another good record from Billie and Finneas—certainly tasteful, and arresting sometimes, but all the session musicians in the world can’t make it a masterpiece. https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/billie-eilish-hit-me-hard-and-soft/12 points

Most of it is just fans rebuying the album over and over because she's releasing new versions with 1 new bonus track. It's an act of a loser, rather than a succesful person, she's too scared to fall down the charts, so she keeps on releasing new versions for her fans when someone else is releasing a new album, so she can occupy the #1 spot.10 points
