Eh I don't know about this. Life is depressing as ****. If people use fantasy to escape it all and it isn't hurting anyone then what's the issue?12 points

So this is the 2nd thread today where you've shown up with the express purpose of showing your a**. Why are you here?11 points

I feel like her speaking out about this is going to attract criticism of her about other unrelated issues, but I'm very glad she did it anyway 💜 Edit: just adding a quick little shout out to the trans homies who come across this. You are so, so, so loved.11 points

Sis. Ellis-Bextor spoke about the tragedy at the Bataclan, where 90 people were killed in coordinated terrorist attacks at a concert, during her tour stop. “It didn’t feel right to me to just waltz into a song called ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ without noting and paying tribute to the history,” she said, according to SkyNews. In fan-recorded footage of the performance, Ellis-Bextor continued, “All I want to say is that ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ is not a song with any evil in its heart." She added: “The whole intention of that song, like this venue, is to bring joy and music onto the dancefloor. So in tribute to that spirit, and in tribute to everybody who has ever danced right here at the Bataclan, this is ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’.” https://people.com/sophie-ellis-bextor-honors-2015-paris-attack-victims-murder-on-the-dancefloor-860672311 points

Kate Middleton has claimed that she was the one behind the edited picture posted earlier. The Palace has declined to post the unedited version of the picture according to news sources.10 points

A well crafted music that makes u feel things... the heart of the Barbie movie. It's like when u hear it, u stop and just stare. This is a timeless song, nothing much going on in terms of production... the voice, the lyrics, the piano, the feels...thats it. I wont be surprised if she and Finneas gets more Oscars for Best Song in the future. Genius Siblings!!!10 points

Why can’t they just mend fences with Courtney Act and let her host it with Vanity lmao9 points

IMO she’s the best artist we’ve had since Gaga. Her talent is undeniable & I also think she impacted culture too, I feel like once she came on the scene, a lot of artists borrowed some of her musical choices. It’s nice to see people like that be acknowledged & rewarded.8 points

Everything about this song is perfect. The performances, the Oscar campaign, this legit needs to be studied. The fact this song moved so many people in a Barbie movie and captured the essence of the vision Greta had for this movie is insane. This IS a timeless song and it just had to win. There was no competition. This song defined film in 2023 and I stand by that so ****ing hard.8 points

The amount of misinformation surrounding the richy fiasco due to bias is soooooooo messy… and the fans won’t stop until they cancel their own fav and she just retires from music altogether lololol7 points

I truly don’t understand that mentality. like people go on Dylan’s page to HATE on her? it’s already weird to think society is collapsing because budlight sponsored a trans person on social post. It’s actually insane to waste your own precious time to go on somebody you hate’s social media to find things that outrage you then go further on to justify your hate.7 points

What a beautiful post! I agree. It's not backlash - it's hate. It's transphobia. Those words need to be used by the media when describing what happens to Dylan and other Trans* people daily. I am so glad Gaga is using her platform to call those people out.7 points
