  7. I think the streams are low because the song is not having its tiktok moment sadly but also a song doesn't age poorly because it gets less streams tho

  8. Literally nothing about his work is original. This is all ripped from the film Metropolis. At this point no one can claim originality for the female robot figure.

  13. With 2010’s Pink Friday, Nicki Minaj didn’t adapt to the industry, but rather she forced it to adapt to her. A mix of femininity and bravado, the rapper’s first studio album quite literally remade mainstream hip-hop in her image. Thirteen years later, the album’s sequel, Pink Friday 2, feels like the product of an identity crisis. Throughout the album, which clocks in at one hour and 10 minutes, Minaj lets herself be overshadowed by the sounds and styles of her featured guests. “Let Me Calm Down,” featuring J. Cole, feels completely derivative of the North Carolina rapper’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive, while Drake gets more airtime on “Needle” than Minaj herself. Even when Pink Friday 2 homes in on some catchy or indelible moments, like on the solo “Fallin 4 U,” things tend to slip into a sugary pop-R&B groove reminiscent of newer artists like Doja Cat and SZA. Which is to say that Pink Friday 2 doesn’t lack identity so much as it struggles to settle on one. It feels more like a compilation or mixtape than a Nicki Minaj album. The singular personality that shined through on past efforts like 2014’s The Pinkprint pop up only in fits and starts here, and while Minaj’s rhymes are as sharp as they’ve ever been—“Beep, beep beep, is that bleep?/Is that you talkin’ to me? It’s that deep?” she raps on “Beep Beep”—they’re too often submerged in a sea of over-production and cheesy sonic embellishments. This is most evident in Pink Friday 2’s choice of samples. On opener “Are You Gone Already,” Minaj raps over a sped-up snippet of Billie Eilish’s “When the Party’s Over,” a song that delivers a poignant sentiment about the death of the singer’s father. That emotional impact is overshadowed here by the track’s lazy, TikTok-inspired production. Despite some catchy moments, there’s almost nothing about Pink Friday 2 that makes it stand out from the current slate of pop and rap music. Unlike its predecessor, the album doesn’t leave much of an impression, and certainly won’t reshape the hip-hop landscape. 2.5/5 Stars https://www.slantmagazine.com/music/nicki-minaj-pink-friday-2-album-review/amp/ do you agree? Or nah?

  21. Movies NEVER come out the moment they are done (at least not movie theatre releases) Theres a lot of work involved ahead of time in a release and time slots are selected way ahead of time 1 year after completion is actually not far off standard.

  22. Because tiktok is not catching it doesn't mean it's ageing poorly In fact this song and most of BTW album are ageing like good wine. I would say they would have smashed anyways from the 80s till the 10s

  27. The chances of a blockbuster film leaking prior to any sort of official release is absolutely slim to none. Remember there were literally dozens of 100% complete Hollywood blockbusters that sat on ice for 2+ years during the pandemic and not a single one of them saw even a snippet of footage released. Films aren't like albums. When they're done, they're not just out floating in the ether in a digital cloud. They're kept on secure hard drives that are only accessible to those who've got clearance to it from the studio. In order for a film to leak prior to a release like that, it'd have to be done by someone who's got access to it and the studio would be able to find that leaker rather fast. It's different once a film has actually had a theatrical release as by that point it can be copied from the hard drives sent to theaters and distributed online that way, but at the moment only Warner has access to it.

  30. A few days off, but happy ten years of one of Lady Gaga's more memorable setlists. I definitely love every single one of these performances, and I come back to them often. (Her vocals are awesome too!) The setlist itself: Jingle Bells (Acoustic) Poker Face (Acoustic) Just Dance Bad Romance Born This Way Aura ARTPOP (Interlude) Do What U Want Applause (and DJWS remix)

  35. I think what the guy is actually saying is being misinterpreted. I'm pretty sure he means the film's complete from the perspective of editing and sound and things like that, but it's likely not completely scored just yet. A score is usually the last thing done, or one of them, because it's reliant on a final or almost final cut. The studio also needs time to organize and book a promotional tour, allow a trailer house time to cut trailers and promos, ensure that it gets screens at the festivals they want to show at, organize a schedule that benefits both of its leads, and avoids direct competition with another large blockbuster. Once a film is done, there's a whole other process that has to begin before it can be released.

  38. it has not aged poorly, in fact it sounds more timeless than a lot of her other hits (which stream better because of the nostalgia of it all). the gp definitely knows this one but it’s just not as popular as her other hits — which she has so many of. one of them are bound to be #20 regarding hmh: teog came out before streaming and hmh was in one of the biggest movies of that year so streams are gonna be a little lopsided. just like how britney and madonnas best selling digital singles singles wouldn’t include some of their early big hits also this tweet proves otherwise (why is embedding links so difficult now): https://x.com/gagavoodo2/status/1734148982811566292?s=46&t=aKBZRlIQezNhlJVMAft-uQ

  42. it's one of those songs that sounds amazing when you listen to the album in full because it's part of the story, but when you listen to it by itself outside the context of the tracklist it's not as powerful. still one of her best though
