We're all gonna get warning points for being off topic.

And ARTPOP is supposed to be fun dirty dance music with ART interspersed...it's not trying to be completely artsy and metaphorical. There are layers of both sentiments.

It's all preference.

I think it all boils down to lyrics-messages-politics (or lack thereof).

As an art student myself, I find BTW to be more "ARTPOP" than ARTPOP (album) itself.

Some people have the confused opinion that ARTPOP's lyrics are more layered and complex than her previous works, but in my humble opinion, that's not the case; they simply are all over the place, they REPEAT the theme of Fame that was used in her first 2 albums, and in some songs they are simply so shallow, that we cannot accept it, and try to find 'hidden meanings'.

Her mistake was that she listened to her fanbase that wanted "ZOMG WE WANT THE OLD GAGA BACK", and -not only that-, but she actually made songs about the experience of being scrutinized by media, whilst claiming in the past that she doesn't give two ****s about what critics say. It's like she really changed.

Since day 1, when Applause was released, I got a really bad feeling about the whole direction this thing was taking. Really? A song about how a performer lives for the applause and the acceptance of her fans? WHY?

I wish that she totally scraps the idea of ARTPOP vol II or whatever, and move on. But: Move on a step forward from Born This Way. Not a step forward from ARTPOP, because artistic disaster will come again. She will still be successful commercialy, but there won't be any artisting integrity whatsoever.

Here is an idea: Born this Way was a political album about our rights, about loving ourselves. Her 5th album can expand on other political issues. Goverment healthcare + education, ENVIRONMENT, feminism, a little bit of a commentary on showbiz, and the legalization of d--gs for harm reduction purposes.

Oh, and the fact that we are all poor now with the crisis. Can't afford to listen about Donatellas, don't have time for s-x dreams, MANiCUREs etc etc.

And please, bring Fernando back. ARTPOP lacked musical cohesion. Diversity is great, but only 5-6 songs on the album belonged together in the same musical family.

Let's punk rock again.

If she's comparing herself to John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Gandhi and Jesus then she better deliver a slew of #1 hits and she's not doing that. Michael Jackson is Michael Jackson for a reason. Because of his success

Seriously ..  I don't even know what to say :rip:

On Topic: GUY was played on both KIIS and Z100 ?

G.U.Y is my fave song on the album! then dwuw . What should her 4th single be? I think Fashion !!!! it reminds me of borderline by madonna so it could be a hit..

Fashion sounds too much like A David Bowie song and one of the weakest on the album. I've always been here for Venus from day one but realize probably not gonna get it with it in the MV. AURA or SEXXX dreams would be my choice. Gypsy bores me and is expected. Risky choice being Donatella. Was on the fence but the beat in Donatella makes me rock out and I can get past the cheesy verses cause the chorus slays.

Not really.  Bloody Mary can easily mop ARTPOP all across the floor :excited2:

Yes, Bloody Mary is one of her most artistic (and catchy) song she ever made. Definitely more artistic that any ARTPOP songs...

So true. Always loved it but became one of my favorites after seeing her perform it on BTW Ball. Beautiful and Haunting at the same time. Really fun to sing along with.

If G.U.Y. doesn't rise with a positive update... People aren't here for G.U.Y.

Weekend updates for radio tend to be a lot smaller. Tbh it's in the hands of radio. These big stations need to add it this week. Positive sign that the stations who are spinning it seem to increase the number of spins each passing day. Patience wait till a week from this Tuesday for any meltdowns.

I kinda agree, really. You brought up basically everything I have against ARTPOP (besides it being too pop dance for an album that was supposed to be boundary-pushing EDM), too much diversity (why are MANiCURE, DWUW, JD, DOPE, Donatella on the same album?), it's a step back from BTW, ...

Charts related but not about gaga:

Have Animals and Talk Dirty not smashed in the US. I remember both of them going top 10 on iTunes there but I don't think they've gotten really big. Strange, Animals was huge because of clubs playing it in Europe, and TD sounds like a smash.
