Runway 27,876
only alienates because we give it a negative connotation
awpy 9
I absolutely hate when she labels her music like this. I obviously know that the fanbase is hugely gay, but it makes straight fans like myself feel alienated in a way. I think this is what made her lose so many hardcore followers back in TFM days. Back then, everyone and their grandmother loved Gaga and knew many of her songs, yet she still pushed how her fans are the gays. This doesn't make me stop stanning for her in the slightest, but it's very annoying how she makes that assumption. Exactly how I feel.
Poker 3,633
Gay people are more alienated in real life every single day, so feeling ailienated by a Pop star doesn't bother me much. She chooses her demographics. Kindness rules all.
TSUNAMI 20,407
when did she say that? She told that to Kanye before The Fame Kills Tour they we're planning to do together.
Tropico 4,145
I just don't see why she labeled it as gay so many times as if gay is something weird or extraordinary because gay is human too and we are human so we being a human is normal which means being gay is normal. So she doesn't have to make a big deal of it. But I don't mind that she said this and I think it's really sweet and stuff tbh. Imo. But yeah where did this all come from though and what made you bring it up now? ♢ Social Justice Enthusiast ♢
Redstreak 6,653
Poor you feeling alienated from a pop star for exactly the length of time it took you to read that. You have no idea what real alienation is like. She was saying this because people thought her music was "too gay" - her point was that being gay wasn't a bad thing. Nobody ever talks about "straight music" being bad. You just don't know what it's like, period, and I definitely don't sympathize with your so-called "straight alienation." We should all be so alienated. This is why I love you Posh. Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~
MonsterMum 2,532
PoshLife You have not been in my shoes either so please spare me the lecture about me not knowing about feeling alienated or not. It's not something that I wanna put here either feel free to pm me if you care. It is a horrible feeling I agree, but that's not what made me write the post anyway. littleFandor 204
I think you have to see it as a metaphor, .. try to read the quote with the word "different" instead of "gay", which most of the people associate with being gay. Being "different".

GagaMyBlood95 9,808
She never said she doesn't like straight people or that her music ISN'T straing right? She just said, like many times before, that she supports gay people through her music and shows and that will remain that way!
Shadow 6,243
Backing alienation of any kind is counterproductive to any movement toward equality. Inclusiveness is the key. We are all humans, the end. Why any more labels than that? 🖤 Like a God without a prayer
RedandBlue 287
She's not saying her music is for the gays. I think everyone is misreading this quote and overlooking the context. She was about to go on tour with Kanye West, and the interviewer wanted to know if her show would change given that she would be performing for both her fans and Kanye's fans. She's acknowleding the huge influence gay culture has had on her music, her image, her spirit, and she's saying she won't change the show just because some people in the audience might be hostile to her gay influences. Oh, I know it's from 2009 but it's still reiterated to this day. I know that's where she's coming from and I have no problem with her acknowledging that, but there are times where even at her shows, she's kind of in our face about it and it does feel weird for the straight fans. Obviously, I have no problem with her agenda as I've been a hardcore fan since Just Dance, but still.
Drew98 0
well she's where she is because of the gays, so i understand why she would honor the LGBT community. and btw, don't start with the "she's excluding her straight fans" bull****... Most of the music industry excludes the LGBT community so don't be a party pooper. I totally agree. I can't at people saying it "excludes straight people." It's a pride thing; let us gays be proud and feel that something is ours for once :D.

EXACTLY, being a member of this community, we know what it feels like not to be included in something, gaga makes us proud to be in this community, and i don't think there nothing wrong with it.
