A state of psychological distress during which a person seeks a sense of self.

A state in which a person experiences uncertainty about who they really are.

You could say the crisis seeds were planted during the first era The Fame:

"I'd rather die than be seen without heels"

"I'd never give up my wigs for anything"

Jo Calderone would later echo these, commenting on her showering with heels on and her confusing hair, before quoting Gags saying "I'm not real. I'm theatre."

During BTW we saw her climax in threatre, where she was now living "halfway between fantasy and reality", going as far as to fuse herself with a motorbike on the album's artwork. All the while though, Gaga acted with conviction and solidly delivered an "era", tho how successfully is up for debate. Imo it was a very consistent, cohesive and convincing body of work.

In ARTPOP we get a reversal - I'm not theatre, I'm real. Aura is about a naked Gaga free of theatrics, swinefest saw her barefoot, and there is the highly stripped down performances with less rigorous choreo and less avant-garde fashion.

Some will argue this is artistic growth, others that ARTPOP is a reflection of her volatility whilst she finds herself. Diagnose ha #LittlePsychologists

She just never took the time to delineate her stage identity. Which is now blowing up in her/our face.

i feel like right now she's struggling on whether to appeal to the masses or to make more experiemental music/art.

The masses want Lady Gaga. They give no f**ks about the inner artist she's trying to let out.

i actually would say yes.  but i don't think it's really a bad thing.  she is trying to figure out who she is at this time. and that may be different than what other people want her to be, so it's difficult.

She's just changed her twitter name again. From Goddess of Love to Creative Rebellion. She can't decide on her own name so I think it's likely.

i wish that she would just go all-out with that inner artist like i know she wants to, but she's too concerned about her commercial success to do that.

Not sure if it's identity related, but she's definitely been going through her own issues lately that we don't know about.

She's trying to find her musical direction. With btw people felt that she took a wrong turn and again with ARTPOP.

The problem is, she tries so hard to push boundaries that she rarely performs within the walls of her talent.

She thinks too much about what's next and has failed to live in any moment.

Tbh she needs to reevaluate what made her the superstar. Be lady Gaga, not some Madonna/Britney hybrid. Lady Gaga was a rock star in a pop world. Freddie Mercury at a disco. What's lady gaga these days? Freddie circa 1992.
