PopReaper 2,231
A Christmas/page 911 playlist?! Erm, I'll have a think It's more like a new-year playlist around songs like Europa by SNSD/Strange Days by BEG. But a Christmas playlist isn't a bad idea at all Give a listen to Ayumi Hamasaki's album "Colours." There are a lot of EDM tracks on that. "Terminal" and "Lelio" in particular. Namie Amuro has a few songs on the "FEEL" album that might be what you're looking for, like "Poison" and "Supernatural Love." And obviously f(x) and 2Ne1 will have some futuristic-sounding EDM songs haha thanks sis, I'll check those out Fun Fact: The K in KPop stands for "Kate Bush"
PoshLife 16,973
PoshLife's The Best of 2014 Part 1 of 2 Since 2014 was the year I discovered KPop (and the year this thread started), I decided to post my favorites from the year. I think you all should, too! Best Group of 2014 Orange Caramel The sub-unit has surpassed the unit. By all accounts, Orange Caramel had a fantastic year, starting with the highly enjoyable "Catallena" and continuing on with Baskin Robbins tie-in "Abing Abing" and the super-quirky but fantastically promoted "My Copycat." Each of the girls also had their own moments in the spotlight, with Raina slaying the charts with "Midsummer Night's Sweetness," Nana appearing on "Muse Dress" in China, and Lizzy starring in a show, "Momo Salon." Once just a side-project for a few After School members, Orange Caramel really took on a life of its own this year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Med2XipHJJM Best Solo Artist of 2014 Namie Amuro Like Orange Caramel, Namie had a fantastic year. It started with "Tsuki" and the release of a very successful ballad best-of album, "Ballada," and continued with her collaboration with Ken Hirai, "Grotesque." Most recently, she collaborated with China's Jolin Tsai and released a three-song single, "Brighter Day." All this while she spent the year touring. Busy girl! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUhACyZIH1s Best Song of 2014 WINGS - "Hair Short" | BoA - "Masayume Chasing" There were so many good songs this year, so I had to include one for KPop and one for JPop. WINGS' debut single was spectacular, a great song with an artful music video. It's rare that a debut is this good, but the two girls really nailed it. BoA, meanwhile, gave us a single that's remarkable in its own right, as it's very catchy and captures the mood of its tie-in, anime "Fairytale," quite perfectly. I had both songs on replay throughout 2014! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0_1odmqmCM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Z5P3pMmXYQ Best Album of 2014 Koda Kumi - "Bon Voyage" The westernization of JPop is a trend Koda Kumi has embraced - or did she spearhead it? - and "Bon Voyage" is an excellent sample of just how good the music can be when American and Japanese pop music collide. Standouts include "Loaded" with Sean Paul, the super fun "U Know (Who I Am)", and volleyball cup theme song "Dreaming Now!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9-Cv5TeBuA
PoshLife 16,973
PoshLife's The Best of 2014 Part 2 of 2 Best Collaboration Mika Nakashima x Miliyah Kato - "Fighter" You all know how I feel about this song, which was used in the Japanese release of "Spiderman" and also on the World Cup soundtrack. I'm obsessed with it. The B-Side, "Gift," is a very pretty and enjoyable song, but "Fighter" is simply rockin'. I particularly like the rap part that introduces the second verse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vijmd4SThig Biggest Surprise Juice=Juice - "Hadaka no Hadaka no Hadaka no KISS" I don't think anyone was expecting Juice=Juice to ever release a decent song after we discovered them way back in the Spring, but "Hadaka" is more than just decent. It's actually almost a bop, which is saying something for a group this young. I think they have good things in their future if they continue cranking out good songs like this one (and Boorack Buttahfly, of course). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XusWMlJH178 Most Underrated Act BESTie BESTie aren't so new anymore, but they're definitely still nugu, which is a shame because they've released some great songs. "Love Options" is particularly infectious, but my favorite of theirs is "I Need You." The whole song is great, but the last minute is where it all comes together in pure pop perfection. The group just needs a new choreographer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CrdiDkHFjk Best Newcomer TOP.IC TOP.IC debuted this year and only have a few songs under their belt, but I'm really liking what I'm hearing so far. They also get major props for actually playing their own instruments - and the one music show they've performed on so far is Inkigayo, the one that DOESN'T let you lip sync. I hope they continue making great songs like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15NdYKwJ3aU Most Potential 4Ten 4Ten's debut single, "Tornado," is a very western-sounding song, but I think that's okay given current trends in KPop. They have a lot going for them, including a great rapper in Tem who already has a fanbase of her own, member Eujin who's developed a following for her beautiful visuals, and a leader Hyeji who has a good voice. They've said recently that they're already working hard on new music, so I'm very excited to see what happens to them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCqUQxikvuI Whatever happened to...? TINT Seriously, where the f*ck are they?? They've been performing at like high schools or something and keep posting selcas (though less frequently than before), but where's the new music?? They debuted over a year ago and only have two songs out... Someone on OneHallyu said they expect a new single in early 2015, but if that doesn't happen then they'll likely end up breaking up. Taylor 964
I won’t split into categories, but will list my favourite songs of the year and add a few notes where I deem them necessary. Will go in chronological order of release. Girl’s Day - Something One of the two songs that got me into Girl’s Day (along with Expectation) and still one of my favourite songs today. The other two tracks on the album are as equally as good. Dal★Shabet - B.B.B I did listen to this when it came out, however it’s only grown on me in the last few months. Very 80’s sound (or so I’m told). I also like ‘REWIND’ from the mini album. AOA - Miniskirt Although I only got into the song in the last few weeks, it’s definitely one of the highlights of the year for me! The catchiness, the dance, the video, the dance. :give-up: STELLAR - Marionette Not too keen on the video, but a great song none the less. Unfortunately, none of the other songs on the mini album appealed to me as much as the single. Girls’ Generation - Mr. Mr. When I first heard the song… I liked it. I didn’t love it. I also had pretty mediocre feelings about the mini album upon my first few listens. I felt like there was way too much Tiffany. But, as time went on I grew to love the mini album and still listen to all of it regularly. (I even bought the Chinese edition to get the Chinese version of Soul haha). 2NE1 - Crush I do like this album! I’m not much of a fan of any pre-2014 2NE1 released, but I do enjoy Crush! My favourite songs are ‘Gotta Be You’, ‘Good To You’, ‘Scream’ and the unplugged version of ‘Come Back Home’. Wings - Hair Short APink - Mr. Chu NS Yoon-G - Yasisi AOA - Short Hair Again, a more recent discovery, love the song, the visuals, concept music video etc. I haven’t really listened to the mini album so can’t comment much on that. f(x) - Red Light Love the single, love the album! Was totally unexpected, and definitely one of my favourite albums of the year! Wings - Blossom Not as great as Hair Short, but still easy listening. Although, I think I’d have preferred a song more like the teaser we got. LODIA - I Got A Feeling Kind of a shame there weren’t really any promotions for the song. I don’t even think it got a video? Darling - Girl’s Day Nice summery song. I didn’t really like the mini album with none of the other tracks really standing out to me. SISTAR - Touch My Body First SISTAR song I heard, and was on repeat for a good while! Also like ‘But I Love You’ from the mini album and the later release ‘I Swear’ from their summer special album. HyunA - Red Really, really did not like this song at first at all. But, after numerous listens I loved it - and some other good songs on the mini album too. Red Velvet - Happiness I like the song… It’s not great, but it works. STELLAR - Mask LABOUM - Petit Macaron I liked their debut single but prefer ‘What About You?’, which later got released as a single with the release of their mini album. T-ARA - Sugar Free Again, took a while for me to get into but very catchy and easily gets stuck in my head. TTS - Holler Was very surprised as I wasn’t expecting much. I didn’t like their first mini album at all, so didn’t have high expectations for the mini album. But, I love every song with my highlights being ‘Whisper’, ‘Stay’ and ‘Only U’. Ailee - Don’t Touch Me Love this song! And the rest of the mini album is great too! Especially ‘Goodbye Now’ and ‘Love Sick’. Red Velvet - Be Natural Girl’s Day - I Miss You Purfles - 1,2,3 Great debut single, which is somewhat rare IMO. Hello Venus - Sticky Sticky Loved the whole single album, from the into to ‘Whiskey’. Great comeback, and hope they release another mini album (or full album) soon. AOA - Like A Cat Love the single (as well as the video, fun to watch them break into the safe). And also love ‘Girl’s Heart’ from the mini album too! MAMAMOO - Piano Man APink - LUV - As for Japanese releases, my favourites have been: Kyrary Pamyu Pamyu - Kira Kira Killer Such a happy song. Nice video too! Girls’ Generation - Indestructible I know a few people here were disappointed by it, but I really love Indestructible. It sounded just as I thought it would. Girls’ Generation - Divine Probably my favourite song of the whole year. Could listen to it over and over for hours on end. - There are probably some songs missing as I used the list of K-Pop releases on Wikipedia to make my list. And here’s to an even better 2015! (with hopes of minimal scandals, no ferries sinking, no idols dying and lots of great music!) (:

PoshLife 16,973
Everyone has great lists! Wow, I forgot about LODIA. They haven't posted on Facebook since September. I remember they used to post new music every other week, I was so hyped for them. Kind of a shame, I guess they fell off the face of the earth. Or maybe we'll get something new in 2015 It looks like the first few months of 2015 are already set to be great. I think I'm most excited about Lizzy's solo debut, which is supposed to be in February.

PoshLife 16,973
There were so many debuts this year I'm not surprised if some of them just completely vanished (getting these vibes from 4TEN) Where tf is TINT tho? I think 4Ten will release another single. Their rapper posted something a few weeks ago on weibo or whatever saying they were working on new music. I think it'll come down to whether their second single is any good. I seriously have no freakin' idea about TINT. It would be one thing if we never heard from them, then we could assume they disbanded. But they posted some selcas on Facebook like two days ago. Someone on OH told me they were supposed to come back last month (but no receipts) and instead might come back early 2015. Guess we'll see... Place your bets now on which we'll get first - TINT's comeback, 4Ten's new single, or the "I'm Not Yours" video
