She should at least have hired David LaChapelle to direct it, his style matches the colorfull and artificial look of things, the direction seems poor imo

What did I just watch? And here I was thinking her videos couldn't get any worse than Roar, but they did. Increasingly worse.

It looks to me that the video is about her being pharaoh during the Old Kingdom and looking for a suitor. Various people attempt to woo her with jewels (first guy) and humor/food (second guy), which shows that she is not exactly materialistic. (But you better choose carefully / Cause I / I'm capable of anything)

The second 'wave' of suitors include the man with the head of the god Sobek, which repulses her, as well as the cute puppy, which she flat out rejects without at all pretending to be interested or taking anything from. Sobek was occasionally seen as a god of fertility; it can be assumed that this wave represents that she is in fact not looking to have children (pass down the throne) and that she cannot be wooed by the cute or fake. (You should know who you're falling for / Do you dare to do this?)

The fifth and final suitor cements her position as a woman looking only for power (something which unto itself is not material, but is also not dissuaded by love of the heart or the innocent). He is ruggedly attractive and brings her an enormous tower from which she sees herself spreading her wings over her kingdom; however, despite finding 'the one,' she turns him into an obedient dog to kneel at her feet, not treating him as an equal and only using him to cement her authoritative legitimacy (Cause once you're mine / There's no going back).

I like it! It's hilarious, but not tacky. The humor is intentional. That's why I love Katy. Everything isn't always so serious.

Its like her career is going back in time, in terms of seriousness

it's not typical katy as some of you suggest, most of her videos have a deeper meaning about love, acceptance, etc., but this ist kind of unusual, and i'm actually kind of disappointed. :/

I was watching, mouth open, because i couldn't believe she did what she did :X

Omg @ all the hate from everyone here. To me Katy is the other end of the spectrum where she tries hard to be cheesy and campy with her performances and videos (i.e. Dark Horse/Roar) and Gaga is the other end of the spectrum where she tries too hard to be artistic overly serious. Just enjoy the music.

It's.. interesting to say the least. Typical Katy. The visuals and outfits were all pretty impressive. Loved the eye makeup.

Honestly, not bad Katy Patra. :golfclap:

I don't really like it to be fackin honest.

I mean the song is quite dark, stick to it.

Halfway through the video I thought I was watching EGYPTIAN BARNEY AND FRIENDS.
