You mean the absolutely perfect, critically acclaimed MTN video? :ohwell:

Oh yes, that incoherent mess of a video, with less than appealing camera framing, stodgy lighting and cinematography (along with Judas, TEOG and YAI)

Ok, I'm being a little harsh, I kinda liked MTN... but compared to her past videos, BTW's videos left a lot to be desired... for me anyways :/

Gaga needs people who know what their doing... She can't do it all on her own accord... :noparty:

I don't... Do you know what happens when Gaga is given full control...??? :ohno:

I mean, of course she should be at the fore front of everything, but I don't want her being in charge of every little detail of the era... I mean we all know what happens when Gaga directs her own videos...

:noparty:

The FAME trailer is a comeback for Gaga, and that's largely based on the fact she's actually got people who know what their doing on board...

They end up among the best, like Marry the Night? (a video where she *also* "got people who know what they're doing on board." I mean, she only worked with Darius Khondji--one of the best DPs in the business, and a very talented production designer in Ponte, who worked on films like American Psycho).

The Fame trailer isn't a comeback, because Gaga started and ended the BTW era with two of her best videos. But, I give you that it is amazing. And Klein definitely knows what he's doing, but I suspect if the final commercial is amazing it will be because you have two minds whose personal aesthetics mesh so beautifully working together.

So you'd have to give me examples of how you thought MTN's cinematography was "stodgy" or poorly framed. Cuz, it wasn't. Really well edited, too, despite what a lot of people seem to think, demonstrating a knowledge of multiple forms of montage. Born This Way and Marry the Night both stand toe-to-toe with anything from TFM era. Though, I do think Judas and You and I--while still being miles better than what most of her peers put out--are not quite on par. And of course there's TEOG, but we all know that was a rush-job because **** went down on the set.

Uhh, there's no bubblegum on BTW. The only thing close to it is the chorus of Highway Unicorn, and that's miles away... or perhaps the verse of Black Jesus or FOHL, but they're certainly not bubblegum by any stretch. Eh, Eh is bubblegum.

Well, they were by no means "bad"... MTN, YAI and Judas were and are great videos, just no where near in the same league as Bad Romance, Telephone... or even Alejandro...

And I'm sorry but for me the videos were we given for BTW had less than commendable camera work (Judas particularly)... and the cinematography felt flat (TEOG/Judas) Everything just felt... underwhelming (and a little DIY)... And MTN lacked a certain polish, it felt like there were so many ideas Gaga was trying to get across, and when they were all chopped together in the way they were... it just felt messy... :noparty:

But hey, opinions are opinions... But I do think it'd be best for Gaga to let the professionals come into play once in a while...

Maybe she's countered Interscope's single picking this time around by making all the songs (aside from her single choices) utterly ridiculous?

That'll get one of two reactions from critics.

The first is the critics stating that Gaga separated art and pop rather than combining them, by having 5 obvious singles (pop) and ~7 songs that are clearly not made for radio (art). They'll say that she failed in connecting art and pop like she said she would, and claim that she's selling out.

On the contrary, other artists will say that Gaga is taking a stance and slowly moving fans and common music into the alternative music scene to make it more popular, thus turning art into pop.

It can go both ways. I would prefer if Gaga combined art and pop into one song, though, rather than having songs that separate the two.

I agree. This album will show what her goals are and how she'll acomplish them.

Hopefully this commercial is a sign on things to come from her music videos. That 30 second teaser was a million times better than every Born This Way music video.

Sad but kind of true.

Gaga's new post reminded me of something Marilyn Manson said about his time on Interscope -

They don’t care about music. They never did. I mean, Jimmy Iovine [Chairman of Interscope-Geffen-A&M] used to, when he produced records a long time ago. They care about Vitamin Water... And when you’ve got so much money, it’s just about ego. I don’t really care what their problem is. I was just happy to get out of there. And I have to be objective, I don’t take it personally. I don’t regret the records I made - I regret the way they treated them. I think I made great records, and they tried to dilute the very essence of what they signed me for. “Don’t be so offensiveâ€- what the fukc does that mean? “Don’t be what we signed you for. Don’t be what you are.â€

Born This Way was censored, her single choices were argued and over-ruled and, who knows, maybe things like the Extended Judas video, the second BTW video etc. were all things that Gaga had no say in being released when it came down to it. Something else Manson said, which I think is relevant -

would say after Antichrist Superstar... It was a pressure that everyone’s on your back, flashing cameras and suggestions and publicists, saying, “Oh, you’ve gotta do this, or you’re not going to be successful!â€You almost start to question what you do and why you do it, and that will lead to you losing your identity.

I don't want gaga to quit interscope, but I also don't want Katy Perry 2.0...so they should clean all the shiz and focus on the music

E! had posted on their website that it was 7 minutes long, but then they removed it. I'm pretty sure it was just a mistake they made.

Not because 30% of her fanbase liked Marry The Night that actually means she should follow that path, we're in a fanbase, there are multiple people (including me) who didn't like BTW singles, tho some songs were great, she barely got any new fans with BTW album, all her fans became so bcz of her previous albums. People want s-x and money pop music !

MTN's video was acclaimed by both fans and critics and if you don't think BTW(album) got her more fans your delusional and need to do some research because TBTWB's commerical success just proves she has gained new fans. It has already grossed more than half TMBT did and it's not even close to being done. Plus it's going to have less shows than TMBT.

Gaga probably gained millions of fans just by the message of BTW(song).

"My people… need to let our bitchiness out. Otherwise, it turns to bile and poisons us"

Just because it grossed more doesn't mean there were more people... (am I right?) is it possible that tickets are more expensive as well as a more extensive selection of merch?
