Disregard 50
Clearly not. This is just another over-the-top article written by an intern at a previously-reputable publication that now relies on click bait because ad revenue for print publications doesn't pay the bills anymore. Mills 446
All of this leads some industry observers to suspect that 1989 could be the last platinum album ever. Over-exaggeration at its worst. Taylor Swift is not the sole established album seller who can move millions per album. Adele's follow-up to 21, Eminem's next solo studio album, One Direction's Four, Beyonce's next record, and even Taylor's 6th studio album - all of these are highly plausible to hit platinum, if not more. They all have yet to break their streak of platinum/multi-platinum major studio albums, so to suggest 1989 as possibly the last platinum album "ever" is completely and ridiculously baseless, especially that Taylor Swift is just 24 years old. Chuckles 2,549
This year was the year of the newbies. No surprise there is not a platinum album yet...
Essence 178
I honestly think Adele will debut well above 1m. Im expecting a 3m debut week purely based off hype. If her lead single is as iconic as RITD then the possibilities are endless for her. 3m debut in this sales climate??
Wet Fire 6,918
No. Adele is coming to snatch weaves. Plus, I think Gaga can also achieve this within a few albums. Others like Bruno Mars, JT etc. might also achieve this.

Add Bruno, Pink, JT, and a couple of country artists like Luke Bryan or Carrie Underwood. If Sam Smith's album gets as many Grammy nominations as industry insiders are predicting, and continues to have singles on the radio, he could reach platinum. Then, there are the surprises each year, like Imagine Dragons, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis or Lorde. I agree- complete exaggeration.
Cameron Dallas 11
Definitely not the last ever, but definitely the last for awhile
aaronyoji 2,013
maybe more talented aritsts should emerge and attribute their aesthetic to the physical existence of their work, like albums, booklets, videos, but instead most artists these days are just reshaping themselves to ride along the digital wave of living single to single, streaming, and worrying so much about the orgasm and not the whole experience of the "Sex" of music, if that makes any sense?? Whispering 18,865
3m debut in this sales climate?? Maybe worldwide, but not in the US only. No way! I believe she will definitely do over one million, maybe even be the one to break the record, if Taylor doesn't get it. :)

GagaMyBlood95 9,901
Adele doesn't need promo guys She just needs the right lead single! Radios will EAT that song, it will recieve praise from the critics obviously - and her first week album sales will be HUGE! Then she should do promo to keep her sales steady...
