Mills 446
I still don't get who people like you think they are to tell us whether we are or are not true fans. Using the term "true fan" is stupid in first place, I've never seen anyone using it in other fanbases. It's just that with Gaga people want to feel more important than others. While I do agree that the notion of a "true fan" is nothing but a hackneyed phrase to justify one's sense of superiority, in the same way on how fans of various music genres pull the "real music" card whenever a debate on which genre is deemed best comes up, I find the insinuation that this reality only applies within the LM to be a complete exaggeration, given that this does apply to almost all, if not all, fanbases of any kind - even beyond the music industry. From sports, literature, politics, business - there would always be those people who'd, just like you've said, "feel more important" than the rest of the fanbase largely due to their direct communication. Yes, the idea in itself is ill-informed, but so does the notion that this is only happening within the LM community.
Phoebe 158
I am not going to sit here and praise the ground she walks on. I support her, I love her music, I buy her stuff, I am a fan. Expressing my negative opinion on her and her work does not make me any less of a fan. We are a huge fanbase, she will never ever do something that will please every single fan, it's an impossible thing to achieve. This whole "true fan" bullsh.it makes me feel like we're suppose to suppress our opinions and just pretend we like everything what she does. I do however agree there's a difference between being an asshole and being rude and expressing your opinion in a respectful manner.

The "true fan" thing has nothing to do with praising everything she does. (Well, maybe it does to some people, but that's a totally different topic IMO...) It was a poor choice of words though. As much as she tries to promote online kindness it's never going to work. Everyone can be an asshole behind the computer screen.

As much as she tries to promote online kindness it's never going to work. Everyone can be an asshole behind the computer screen. That's probably true, and in that sense I'm glad she stopped visiting for now at least, but it doesn't mean people shouldn't be called out for being rude, and it also doesn't mean anyone is in the wrong for being offended just because it's the internet. That goes for anything, not just forums.
Katie14 4,828
What is with all the nastiness towards Emma? She is just relaying a message. She didn't do anything wrong. I feel like some fans on here are jealous that she has connections with Gaga and they are lashing out on her because of this. As for Gaga, I don't think she is as sensitive to criticism as some of us think she is. I think she appreciates criticism from those who she respects to help her put her thoughts into perspective and to help her filter her ideas. Like many other on here have said, there is a huge difference between useful constructive criticism that is presented in a respectful way and rude and offensive bashing. I don't read every thread but I have noticed that there are some posts and threads that are outright mean, disrespectful, and demanding. I think Gaga is sick of all the "where is the DWYW video already !!?!", "we deserve the video now", "Gaga is ruining her career" type threads. We really don't "deserve" anything from her. Just because we are dedicated fans doesn't mean that we are entitled to a constant flow music, videos, performances, ect from her. Gaga has a life outside of her career and she can release new material at whatever pace she likes.
Nemo 4,207
It's a shame that I read ideas for her that are actually better that what she is doing.Sorry, but I think that's delusional. However, if you really think you have better ideas, then why not implement them for yourself, instead of trying to impose them on her? Let her be her own artist, and you be yours.
Shadow 6,423
Hold the phone.... The true fan/ bad fan stuff is bull****. I'll never agree with that mindset and being fan is not being a cult member. I'm not defending Emma or Gaga on the basis of that crap. I'm doing it because we're all human beings and equal. Therefore, treating them like **** is the judgmental and silly thing to do, just because they're tired of the verbally abusive culture people on the internet keep trying to justify as a free speech issue, when it's just as bad as bullying or hazing. Why do people keep twisting that around, making the jerks and trolls somehow the victims when they just get rises out of people and put them down for kicks? How is that lighthearted and fun? May be if one is one sided and is unable to empathize. Forget the fan criteria stuff. This is about the criteria of being a decent human being. That's everyone and in equal footing. 🖤“It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled” ― Mark Twain
Speechless94 545
This is all just so cyclical and debating it is just making it worse. Maybe we could have a whole subsection in Gaga Thoughts for critiques? An area to post your concerns, questions, and comments on anything you don't agree with Gaga doing or how she is handling her promotional strategies. That way if you don't like reading those, don't go into that section.
ladygaga1984 175
I'm getting really tired of Gaga and how she lately takes herself way too seriously.I love her music and wish she would just focus on the music, performances and music videos. I mean, she earns more than 80 million a year... WTF is she complaining about? Stop dwelling in stupid sh*** and get your artistic vision together, get a proper marketing plan and release DWUW once and for all. I feel that she is losing fans and most people I know are actually tired of her... this was even validated by simon cowell recently. Why cant she be a bit more like madonna and just focus on the music? None of us actually know her as a person and most of the world does not care. We care about nice music and videos. And I'm tired of all these idolators who praise everything she does when actually this whole era has been a mess...Gaga, please get ur s*** together and stop behaving like you are some sort of god! And listen to the fans... if not even your fans are happy it must mean something. 1
