RAMROD 106,069
That kind of predictable, I mean, residency show is mostly and usually are ways for dem entertainers to get the very last dollars. Until they did the Cher, of course.
Mills 446
OMG how come Britney's album + all females albums are struggling so hard to sell this year? Why doesn't the GP like divas anymore?! The notable difference between the album sales in 2011 and 2013 among female pop stars is really puzzling to me. It seems gone are the days when they could both move huge single sales AND album sales at the same time. Is it because of the material? Or is it because the audience is getting more and more keen towards male artists in general? It'd be interesting if Adele can change the waves next year, and hopefully every female A-lister could join into that as well.
Mills 446
How saddening it is from the perspective of a fan like me. But similar to all so-called retirements or hiatuses from the spotlight, I believe she'd eventually come back in the near future. The interest around her by that time may not be as strong it is right now or during her heyday in the 2000s, but I'd look forward to that day when she could finally come up with an album that'd remind me again why she's Britney Spears - not as one of the best entertainers we've ever seen, but as a person who's easy to love. mllekatrin 0
If she does, it's for the best. It's heartbreaking to see her press on with her career that she doesn't want, not promote her work so it flops and have a tour where she's lipsynching once again. Her label and her parents have been using her as a cash machine for years with no thought for her sanity and she let them get away with it because she's never been the driving force behind her records and hasn't been in her right mind for years. I just want her put out of her misery. If she doesn't, I fear she could end up like Whitney Houston - albums doing worse and worse, a tour with lots of criticism and finally, the end. As depressing as that thought is, it's obvious that continuously forcing a mentally vulnerable person into taxing work that they don't want to do is a recipe for disaster. It's a shame that she could be potentially ending on the worst album of her career and a floppy residency show. I would love to see her do a proper send-off - a greatest hits world arena tour that includes all the major cities. It doesn't matter if she only fills half an arena or less, she's there for all her fans one last time. Because she knows this is her last ever job as a celebrity, she can fling herself into it full force and give it her all. She can even do the last date in Louisiana as a symbolic point for her leaving her fame and going back home. I realise that she has given conflicting information like that before, but this time, I think this really could be it. Britney Jean is the last album in her contract with RCA, she's doing a residency show for 2 years and she said she plans to take a hiatus after this. This has all the makings of imminent retirement. Now that her contractual obligations with RCA are fulfilled, what other label is going to take her on? Her singles, albums and tours are flopping, she needs guidance with every element of her career, she refuses to promote and is mentally fragile. That's far too much baggage for anyone to take on. Even if she does want to continue making albums, labels might be reluctant to pour so much money into them and release them as they'll only flop. Sometimes, you just have to know when to quit. This residency show is going to be a good way to test the waters to see how much demand she still has. Girls Aloud reunited for a greatest hits tour and claimed that the performance of the tour would decide if they would start making albums again. It flopped, so they split for good. Judging by Britney's residency numbers so far, there's very little demand, and the demand that is there is likely 100% North American. I just don't see her fans flying from all over the world to see her in Vegas. The Greatest Hits Tour would be an amazing thing to do if she's been out of the scene for like, 5 or 10 years. Imagine the demand for those tickets. She plans like a a handful of arena shows. Only adding on more when the others sell out. That would be a pretty awesome thing to do. As much as I love Britney, I think she just wants to be normal again and retiring will allow that for her cause eventually people won't care as much. People have been so hard on Gaga for her album sales, yet she's right on par with all her contemporaries, and obviously ahead of Britney who is a pop icon. VISION 52
What happened to Britney after 2004? Did she break mentally?
BangTheGong 310
I do hope that Britney continues to work after she retreats from spotlight (& after she has some more kids or w.e). Fifteen years is a great run, but I feel stars really become cemented in history when they have life long careers. I want Gaga to be in the business for at least 40 years like Elton, Bette Middler, Barbra Streisand, and Cher. She'll probably do this by writing music, and making contemporary/jazz albums like Barbara Streisand.

VISION 52
Where have you been.. I'm just 19, but I loved her music around 2004. Everytime, Toxic, And then we kiss But I mean, I know about her bald head adventures and stuff, but many celebrities had it and came back. I guess I didn't follow news about her closely in 2005-2007
llbcherry 591
Well, not surprised. I just hope if she has more children, that she has a psychiatrist. (not shade, being serious. I could see her having post partum issues.) I wish her the best.

I have no clue was there some sort of shift in culture that I missed out on? People just aren't diggin' pop girls this year. Awaiting Adele's return. Maybe Gaga and change her schtick with Cheek to Cheek and win over the contemporary crowd (seems like this genre is where all the album sales are).
