I think Britney's been "over" for a long time, unfortunately. She lost something when she had her breakdown, something in her spirit just disappeared, and she's never recovered it. Her career started on a downward slope since that point...

Britney's such a sweet girl, though. I really want her to be happy, and I just think performing isn't making her happy anymore. It really shows.

Gaga is Life

I feel the same way as the OP. It's odd, I wasn't this. I mean it's Britney. I don't know. I'm hoping for a turnaround  Perfume is a pretty nice song.

How odd to say her career's way over since 2004, when Britney scored 4 HOT 100 #1s in the last five years or so. Her album sales may had declined since 2004, but aren't all albums too for that matter -with a few rare exceptions like Eminem, Gaga, and Adele? Britney is at the point of her career that no matter what happens with this album, she'd still be highly regarded as an A-lister, the biggest-selling female artist of the entire 2000s, in the same way how the media and the public treat Beyonce and Madonna. Those two of course released 4 and MDNA. And we know the sales of those albums, don't we?

The thing is, Britney has always been the involuntary popstar sort of. She has always had a passion for dancing, making music and entertaining. But the spotlight and fame was never her cup of tea. I think this is one of the reasons (combined with the divorce, two kids) that made her break down 2007.
She once said her biggest dream was to make enough money for her to buy a house in Lousiana for her family and start a small business. And efter the breakdown her focus and priorities has clearly shifted (at least after Circus, but I believe it was her dad and management that pushed and hyped the Circus era as the big 'comeback'. Britney was clearly not ready at that stage just a few months after being in hospital).

She also stated she has nothing left to prove (which I think is bullsh*t but her goal isnt as ambitious as Gaga or Madonna so.) So I think she just wants to create music, raise her kids and perform at a small venue, hence the Vegas deal. She has no interest in the whole stardom nowadays and hasn't for a long time.

Well, the Britney Army deals with this by saying stupid shit like, "Britney's a legend. She doesn't need to proven anything anymore. She's been around for 15 years. When will Gaga?" :turkga:

But I actually like her so I hope she isn't over :ohno:
