MonsterMum 2,532
You are correct. Gypsy is the best bet now IMO. It plays on piano nicely, and is personal while also being relatable. It would be a good single for the new year, too, because it is hopeful and sort of evokes.....journeys, open spaces, possibilities etc... plus it has some catchy parts. Its something to sing in cars;) So it may all work out yet:) If marketed correctly. It has a great potential and could be promoted very diversely. The bigger problem will be single 4, personally if she has softened up the GP again "Dope" could be a good hit but then again it might be summer by then and it won't get the attention it deserves. There isn't much more on the album that is GP friendly.
Arturo 40,746
You have to understand: promo costs $$$$. Going places with an entourage, setting things up, besides other costs. It REALLY adds up. LG travels in style AND shoots with her own crew these days. It's VERY expensive. And the money coming in right now is not crazy amazing. The pie is getting smaller and smaller. That could also be the reason behind less heavy touring promo. Yes, I understand that. But I'm positive money isn't a problem for Gaga.
craig 680
The pie is getting smaller and smaller. That could also be the reason behind less heavy touring promo. One Oz visit per era is the typical max for big stars. That's all BTW got. Why no wait til January. Take some time there. What's the rush? (cause a Dec visit would be more rushed with other promo comitments in more important USUK).

monketsharona 81,943
555. Lady Gaga - Do What U Want (feat. R. Luc 4,775
hey hon, just popped in to see a storm of posts, yikes! Tempted to just delete my OP :-/ I didn't mean to create any controversy and I hope my OP wasn't out of bounds. I think everyone knows about that one, the 2nd single event, that was pretty obvious? DWUW seemed to really take off and so there was an instant decision made to push it forward. Venus is the first song produced by LG, so it's her baby, of course she would want it to be the single. The label, though...maybe not so enthused. IMO only it's not the greatest song, no, but it IS more interesting than DWYW. It could have made room for more interesting visuals, performances etc. That said, major label records still live or die by radio. Venus is NOT a staple pop radio hit. That is not a slight. That is just a fact. That would have made the label uneasy to begin with, and so they jumped on the DWYW bandwagon pronto. I think in other circumstances, Venus DOES make for a more interesting approach, and not to carp on the subject, but it's a song that could have even crossed over to the kids, you know? The whole planet thing, Venus imagery etc. To address a couple of other things: there is maybe one degree of separation between myself and the insider circle, so no, I am not The Insider Gold, so to speak, and I don't think I ever claimed to be? But I am probably a bit closer to the source than some of you, although it's not such a big deal. Truly, what I posted could be construed as a collection of what many people have posted before - I am not claiming otherwise. I have come here before mainly for research. Because I am in the biz, I am always curious to see how artists's choices affect their fan base etc, plus this thread is more up to date on charts than HDD hahaha. I also posted here, and not on main Thoughts thread because most of you are relatively even headed;) and the main thread can get a bit.... well.... insane. I was wondering because Gaga kept claiming she made the decision to go with DWUW. And she made so much money with the BTWBall, it surprises me that they wouldn't have enough money for promo in my opinion acoustic performances are the way to go when promoting a single tbh, cheap yet more effective, no rehearsal needed. She could've easily gone from the multiple UK visits to France and Germany for some promotion, or in Japan with a small trip to South Korea.
GagaMyBlood95 9,915
A part of me kind of wants to move on to Gypsy now but I still wanna see how radio holds on to DWUW. I can't at KIIS just going back to Applause on PR and taking DWUW off before Wednesday. Like, is that even legal...? If radio becomes ****ty, then might as well move onto Gypsy :P Also, I have this horrible feeling that the Grammys aren't happening for Gaga That's her shoot to shine! craig 680
No wonder the tour was announced so early then What was so early about it? Just common sense timing. Now Troy deserves to be fired the way he left ticket sales so late in US last time.
Bye 3,947
I'm pretty sure it would be higher if Gaga would post a link on her Twitter. But that's too hard for her... Maybe she's doing it on purpose and going against interscope any chance she has so they drop her and she doesn't have to break the contract #delusion :derpga:
MonsterMum 2,532
I was wondering because Gaga kept claiming she made the decision to go with DWUW. What else would she have said tho? Interscope made me do it and I totally hate it? She can't really bite the hand that feeds her at one point or another if Interscope says: this is gonna be the 2nd single because it's getting popular now she'll probably have to promote it. They probably gave it a chance since she done em both on several occassions but it was DWUW that seemed to be the more popular one and then the label won't care about Venus if DWUW can be the money maker. But I see it like this. A mega-smash hit gives you 10 million dollars, of which 75% goes to promotion of the song, studio time, writers, producers, etc. The rest is left for the label. 5 shows for a tour gives you 10 million dollars, of which like 75% goes to promotion, stage, artist, etc. The rest is left for the label I suppose. Now which is more profitable? I believe that it's not necessary to have the bigger moneymaker for a single, hell, I believe that it's better to put all of the profit from albums/singles in promotion for the next single.
