Yes because those that bought BTW first week etc were the fanbase. If the actual fanbase has been reduced, then its very little. The public appeal has been reduced. Honestly, public appeal was quite high with Applause. It's definitly her fanbase that has declined, she isn't winning fan-voted awards anymore, it's hard for Gaga to get a trending topic these days, her Twitter follower count has only gone up 2,5% in the last 6 months, only 550k people bought ARTPOP first-week compared to 2 million for Born This Way. You can say that her public appeal/promotion was much better for BTW, but people who buy an album first-week are generally considered fans or at least fans of the music. Let's just say at least 50% of them are fans, that's still 2 million fans without even going to Asia/Australia Fanbases can be very big, it's just a question how many of them are active on the Internet (Gaga, for example, has a HUGE Japanese fan-following but Japanese monsters are rare on Twitter/ATRL/GGD/LM.com) and how noticeable they are. The big fans won't leave easily but when they live they probably won't return. Loyal fanbase is loyal, i.e. the stans who never leave, that base obiovusly won't decline by much. But as I said before I'm referring to casuals who I do consider part of the fanbase given that they used to appreciate all the Gaga media exposure, her songs, bought her ENTIRE albums not just her singles...
