Paper Gangsta 6,693
I don't think Venus is a good single choice. It fell so fast (everywhere) when it was a promo single yup So did DWUW untill it got radio support
chris777 112
Judas has 1M sales in the US though and a huge video. If this isn't a moderate hit then what is. not yet. max 940k-945k now and Judas fell off of the Billboard Hot 100 fast (just like GMAYL). at its best it was a mediocre hit
VforVendetta 2,024
I dont know. Lets call it a hit, with an adjective, because it wasnt sure a big hit.Call Applause whatever you call TEOG, they are very similar situations with the only difference that Applause has also a very big video. Paper Gangsta 6,693
That would make her flop even more. So 1.No 2.No 3.No Lol 1. Lol 2. She is confirmed to be in NYC 3. Yes

Now we are just playing with words. IDK if the word is mediocore or moderate, it just isn't flop, its far from it.
Bt1 5,213
Call Applause whatever you call TEOG, they are very similar situations with the only difference that Applause has also a very big video. Teog wasnt a smash, even if it really deserved to be one. One reason was the video. Another was bad timing.
Luc 4,775
Both have its pros and cons If she releases it later it will peak higher due to higher airplay combined with first week sales. I think it would be better that she performs it early to get radio support rather than releasing video to get it Perhaps she could do a bunch of radio interviews in the first week? Like the 20 biggest radio stations (HAC, Pop, AC) in the country? That could make the airplay rise a little. Or she could do a radio deal for the first 2 days? iTunes payola first 4 weeks to keep it Top 5? She could do that in many countries tbh. Singles don't sell that much in European markets, but iTunes is the biggest way for radios to see which song to play. Anything to get some great exposure to make it go Top 5 for a few weeks and pick up on airplay Let's say this: January 31 Venus made album-only, single version for pre-order February 14 US Release February 14~May 14 commercial airing WW (we all know how much it did for Applause in the US and DWUW in Europe) February 14~February 21 radio interviews in the US February 14~28 US iTunes banners February 15 US Talkshow performance/interview February 21 US Talkshow performance/interview February 25 US performance February 28 WW release February 28-March 14 WW iTunes banners March 2 Video release March 2 Performance in the US at w/e show March 5 UK release March 7 UK talkshow March 8~9 visit 5 radio stations in the UK March 10 France talkshow March 10 France radio interviews March 11 German talkshow March 11 Germany radio interviews March 12 Australia release March 13 Performance in Australia March 15 Radio interviews in Australia March 19 Performance in Australia March 22 Performance in South Korea (Inkigayo) March 25 Performance in South Korea March 26-27 Radio interviews in South Korea March 30 Japan performance April 2 Japan performance April 5 Australia performance+1 radio interview April 10 US performance I took random dates and performances, I didn't even think about what day the things are but it comes down to: - WW commercial - 4 performances in the US - radio interviews+performances in the UK, Australia, Germany, France, South Korea, Japan - iTunes banners - slay That's how a single era should go in my opinion. Constant interviews, performances

chris777 112
Applause was a hit, DWUW was just there (not a hit or flop)
Mariano 958
If Applause ends up between 2,7 and 3M sales what would you call it though? Its not a smash hit like Roar or a huge hit like Locked Out Of Heaven but its a sizable hit. It's just a hit.
VforVendetta 2,024
Teog wasnt a smash, even if it really deserved to be one. One reason was the video. Another was bad timing.I agree. It was a sizable hit though.
vertigostick 2,448
Madonna's GMAYL hardly reached 600K, both Applause and (even) Judas **** all over it sales-wise. If you're going to compare it with a Gagz single, take MTN.
Bt1 5,213
I agree. It was a sizable hit though. Yes. And I think the most important thing is that it can really survive the times and become a classic.

But i do agree although you are using too much categories what is confusing people. Personaly big hit sounds like synonime for smash to me. Three categories are enough : flop, hit, smash. And applause and teog were hits
