bvtches 0
Katy is about quantity too.......... How many people 30 years from now are going to pull out old CDs and want to listen to: "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag"
Arturo 40,746
The only popular women I can think of off the top of my head that can write and produce their own music are Gaga, Madonna, and Ellie. Well Katy is just unfair  But Rihanna I don't ever see as too impressive because she's always been about quantity. If Gaga did the same tactic she'd have that many or more, too. I was so sure that Unconditionally would be her first song not to go Platinum, but Christmas gave it a much needed push.
chris777 112
Let's look at songs that DIDN'T go Platinum: Gaga: - Judas - Marry the Night - Do What U Want (will most likely go Plat) Katy: - Unconditionally (will most likely go Plat) Rihanna: - If It's Lovin' That You Want - We Ride - Break It Off - Rehab - Russian Roulette - Rockstar 101 - California King Bed - Man Down - Talk That Talk - Cockiness - Right Now - What Now And those are just her OWN songs, no features. Rihanna is probably one of the most successful single acts of our time, but she sure has a lot of misses for those hits. if only radio would have supported Russian Roulette (it peaked at #35 on radio songs)

How many people 30 years from now are going to pull out old CDs and want to listen to: "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag" ? Katy has released 15 singles and Gaga has released 14. Both have a small amount of singles. if only radio would have supported Russian Roulette (it peaked at #35 on radio songs) Rated R really wasn't too great for her... Glad she rebounded with Loud. Arturo 40,746
Anyone know Judas and MTN sales? As of August 2013... Judas - 942,000 MTN - 622,
Klou 2,414
if only radio would have supported Russian Roulette (it peaked at #35 on radio songs) In my top 3 Rihanna songs 1. Jump 2. Rude Boy 3. Russian Roulette I love when Rihanna does darker music.

Glad she rebounded with Loud. I think you missed my point The point is Katy Perry's career is based off of making popcorn hits to number one without any kind of future impact She's feeding GP the junk food they love (all props to her & Dr. Luke for being able to make the same song with slightly different beats for two albums, 5 years, and multiple singles that go to #1) Gaga may not be experiencing the same sales, but it's just like ECON 101, a cost has to be made that will be negated in the future

How many people 30 years from now are going to pull out old CDs and want to listen to: "Do you ever feel like a plastic bag" I see Firework being a timeless, classic hit. Don't diss that song, it's as big as Bad Romance-fact! Her "popcorn hits" have a lot of resonance, outside of your opinion, with many people, and her most iconic songs will last as long as Gaga's most iconic songs. I just can't I'd rather listen to Sara B for 48 hours straight than endure more of that song Esp the "AH AH AH" and robotic droning under it I just can't
