Digital sales > Streaming

At the end of the day paying for a song that you love is much better than watching some viral video on youtube just because it is viral. It's not like they watched the video for Wrecking Ball. They watched the video for the parody and that's embarassing for the future of the music indutry.

All of these "funny" music trends like Gangnam Style, Harlem Shake and The Fox turning into hits is offencive to the industry.

I agree that digital sales are more IMportant than streaming, that doesn't mean that Digital sales are bigger Indicator of popularity...

FACT:  STreaming >>>>>>>>>>> DIgital sales  and Obviously I am not talkin about Importance I am talkin about usage.  Guys we are on a music forum, please educate yourselves (and please don't get me wrong I am not trying to start argument or to offend you) but Streaming Is way bigger platform for the GP to discover music than Digital retailers like Itunes etc... this Is simply a FACT.  And Billboard are also Indicating the Importance of Streaming ...  It's a well known fact that more people stream songs Instead of buying, and If streaming Is not Included on the BBHOT100 formula, then the chart Is no longer Indicator of the popularity of the songs, but just of their sales and airplay..

more like Billboard Is keeping up with trends I'd say...

And I'll say It Again  3 years ago Digital Sales > Streaming

Nowadays Streaming>>>>>>>>Digital Sales ...

Yes... But it's not fair in my opinion... Also because 'Streaming views' can be easily fake...

I remember a thread a few days ago that there was something wrong in 'Roar' views...

Infact it's so strange that with ROAR in 2 weeks she was already at 50 millions, and Unc in 2 weeks only 15 millions

Too much different! But also famous videos in the past like 'Girlfriend' had fake views... And then the director of Billboard was mad at Gaga only because she said to spam her videos, it's them fault (I mean Billboard), because it's obvious that the fans do those things...

Don't worry about that, Billboard has their way In counting only the real views, and they have already said that several times ..

It's not like every single stream point is a good indicator of the success of a song.

It's misleading to put WB back at #1 because some parody is going viral on the internet. It's not the song that is viral, it's the video of a naked man on omegle pretending to be Miley.

Spotify is a good indicator of streaming but Youtube isnt at all.

Billboard's way of counting streaming is very flawed, it's guaranteed to be a rule change at some point. It already started today with them saying that streaming will count less from now on compared to sales/radio.

I already shared my opinion about that matter, I don't want to be repetitive ..  But the video Is viral because of the song and Its original video, and Gaga cannot do 60M views In a week and some random guy does It, the song Is being heard by MANY MANY MANY people In that particular week therefore the song Is popular, period.

But why the hell would Radio be counted that much, when It's 100% being manipulated way more than Streaming can be manipulated by fans !

I still disagree. I also listen to many youtubers background music on their vlogs and that doesnt make it #1 on the Billboard chart.

Streaming should definitely count towards the Hot 100 but Billboard needs to have stricter rules surrounding Youtube videos. imo they should only count streams from the artist's official channels. If a video goes viral with a song, it's really debatable if that actually reflects the song's popularity or if it's just the content of the video. This year we've seen a few songs get new peaks because of this, like Beyonce's Get Me Bodied because of some doctors dancing while it played in the background. :rip:
