Lets start shall we? "I'm not a wandering slave, I am a woman of choice. " This can be interpreted 2 ways: A) She refers to her not being a slave to pop culture, she can do what she wants. B) She refers to her talking about freedom in the middle east, Women are not men's slaves. Now lets skip to the chorus. "Do You want to see me naked lover? Do you want to peek underneath the cover, do you want to see the girl who lives behind the aura, behind the aura?" Again, 2 ways A) Gaga is stripping down, there are no limits. This is the real her, this is her creation. She asks "Do you want to see the girl who lives behind the aura?" Do you want to see the real her? Her real emotions? Her real music, her ARTPOP? B) These outfits she wears are not for show, this is the real her. The real Gaga. Gaga behind the aura, is the same Gaga as always. "Enigma popstar is fun, she wear Burqa for fashion. Its not a statement as much, as just a move of passion!" Sometimes Gaga wears these crazy outfits, these "Burqa's" But sometimes they are not always statements (Meat dress) but she is moved by something passionate. Imo, the chorus and lyrics just scream "Welcome to ARTPOP" while also reflecting on the media's interpretation of her as a popstar. Discuss. Aura had a lot of potential, especially the beautiful chorus. It may have smashed. But TBQFH- NOTHING could've been a better choice than Applause.
