Very much same here, people are already complaining about how much “work” exams versus these will be and what you get out of them. When in reality these Vocations are probably far more useful to get a job in the modern day than actual GCSEs.

I absolutely hated school even though I did fairly well. I've always thought schools should teach more real world life skills so this is amazing to see!

i wish back then these programs exist. i don't need algebra, chemical reactions and all that stuff in real life.

And they'll be no different to the recently introduced T-Levels and the previous BTECs.

Schools won't be given enough resources to offer them. So colleges will be the only option.

And schooling from 12 to 14 will be focused on the traditional school subjects and pupils will be made to feel like taking "vocational" GCSEs etc is for the "underachieving" students through social stigma. 

Would make things a lot easier if each successive PM this century would stop rebranding what's already supposed to exist and actually just started to fund it. 

That all said, Burnham did an okay job with the MBac campaign in Manchester. But again, its something that gets rolled out by us in the youth sector to the kids slipping through the cracks after they start slipping. It has become yet another "let the underachievers have something" policy.

i didn't really excel at school until i was allowed to finally pursue a creative subject and then i suddenly achieved incredible grades and loooved working hard

if i had something like this at that young age, my parents would have probably stopped trying to force me to be academic sooner rather than later

Agreed!! I suck at Advanced Mathematics, Science (Chemistry, Physics, Biology), Chinese Language... and I literally didn't need those these days.
