It's rough for Gaga, because had Gaga tried something that blatantly "weird," it would have been eviscerated, because people have fatigue from that kind of stuff from Gaga. But Miley's riding that wave right now, so it works for her. Gaga gave literally the best performance she could have for that song, and for her current reputation.
