PoshLife 16,930
this doesn't surprise me since a lot of people have said it sounds like it would fit in with Born This Way
elijahfan 25,318
Venus was made 2 months ago? How do you know? That's when she had her total Venus meltdown, around the VMAs and Swinefest. The lines "Aphrodite lady seashell bikini", "Garden panty" and "Don't you know my ass is famous?" are totally reminiscent of what she wore / what was said about her at the VMAs. And remember this tweet, dated Sept. 19th: Lady Gaga â€@ladygaga 19 Sep studio time! the live birth of *Venus* !! pic.twitter.com/h8sRwDZT24 Basically meaning the song was finally recorded in September. Alien Tulip 12,428
You know, I don't think she could possibly see beyond BTW until it was finished, not matter the things she says like "I had the ARTPOP concept right after BTW was released". When you look closely at the recording schedule of BTW, you'll realize that many things were done pretty much last minute (Bad Kids was recorded in Jan. 2011, HML in March... Black Jesus in April, just a month before release!). I think that Gaga had indeed thought of some songs in the rest of 2011 (like Princess Di and the mysterious Elton duet, for instance), stuff that was ultimately scrapped. I quite honestly think she's started to work on the music we're hearing now when the BTWBall kicked off: Zedd was the supporting act on the first leg of the tour, so that's when they've started working together - and if Russell says Aura was the first song written for ARTPOP, it makes sense, 'cause Aura is a Zedd production. too much reading for my lazy eyes
Schwerk 7,054
Mary Jane Holland could right on Born This Way, would have thought that was the first song! Does sound very BTW, but I think she wrote this in august 2012, when she came over to Amsterdam for a weekend of fun and didn't get recognized for a full day (except by two friends of mine ;) The lyrics refer to that a lot. According to Gaga I'm a ****ing rad bitch

Novelart 0
she didn't write it. This, lyrics on top of a melody is enhancement, not writing. Ask a musician.
BigDreamer 55
... when you think about it, ARTPOP is the only song that matches the "concept", let's be honest I think when you look at the album as a whole it becomes a much bigger statement. The genre and sound exploration is impressive.Maybe not everyone's exact definition of ART but it does explore a lot and shows once again that she is diverse. littlemtyrese 0
Thank god she changed the decay concept. It wouldn't have fit in.
mic 1,415
D: funny cause Aura is one of the least "ARTPOP" songs imo... has nothing to do with the concept... maybe when she wrote Aura before she thought of the concept I think opposite. It channels many styles of music, good methaphores in the lyrics with sick electro beat. It's what ARTPOP is about is about. What song is more ARTPOPish in Your opinion? aaronyoji 2,007
what the hell is wrong with some of the members posting here? she wrote the song, meaning melodies as well. god shut the **** up with your broken english....
Magoo 6
She maybe wrote the lyrics. But Infected Mushroom wrote the actual song and melody. Funny, I don't remember hearing the chorus of Aura from IM; the chorus is the most important part of the song right?
Titzlol 607
that ART and POP can belong together? in some songs we see that ART and POP are in the songs, in some songs we see that the ART is in the visuals and the POP is in the song. but in aura i don't see ART anywhere. maybe there is thats just my opinion Oh wow, i never looked at it like that, interesting(: I always looked at it kinda like. Idk with Applause I see the ART visuals but theres Pop there as well like the verses are full of ART references and theatrical sound, and then the chorus comes and its complete and pure Pop. The way her voice sounds and what shes saying, and the way the melody in the chorus is So I guess I always looked at the ARTPOP tracks kinda like that, trying to find which parts were the ART and which parts were Pop

Gaga is Life 101
It's pretty cool that the first one she wrote made it on the album with all the songs she makes. Her vision and themes and motivation and stuff for the album would've changed a bit over the long time since the first song was written I would think.
