blahblahblahhhh 15
Be warned - LONG READ Well, to be completely candid, and I'm not even exaggerating, I am blown away by the record. Of course, some songs are better than the others, but those "others" aren't really bad per se! She raised the bar so high and she set such high standards that I'm actually in awe. I for one don't find ARTPOP to be extremely commercial and that's what I admire about it in a way. I applaud her intentions to create something we haven't heard from her yet. I know a lot of people are saying that it's oh so radio-friendly, but I don't really think so. This is still very Gaga. A perfect blend of experimentation and commercialism. It's really just a more upbeat, fun version of her previous endeavours. E.g. a lot of people hate on Fashion! (some go as far as saying it's garbage/trash) but I am highly enjoying it. The same goes for Jewels&Drugs. Not a fan of rap in general, but she pulled it off, and as a one-time song I can appreciate it. I think that the main problem this fanbase currently has is that they ALWAYS expect way too much from her. Not saying that it's necessarily a bad thing, but I am of opinion that Gaga let us delve way too deep into her creative process that fans themselves feel entitled to bash and give "constructive" criticism where it's not due. Honestly, during TF/TFM era, did ANYONE care who produced a song? Nobody cared about it back then and that was fun and it was a more spontaneous experience because you had no expectations whatsoever. Now that we know who the producers are we feel like we deserve to hear their "trademark" sound that we end up being disappointed when that doesn't play out that way. Before you just heard a song and went crazy about it. But now, we all feel like we know how to make songs better than the people who are actually qualified to do so. I don't like this riff, or I don't care about this sound, or this is too noisy, I mean what? The whole "little managers&producers" thing is becoming quite annoying. Another example, I live for Donatella, yes, it's shallow, it's vain, but it has a sarcastic tone to it if you dig a little deeper and it's FUN. A celebration of her close friend and her quirky habits. I am fine with having fun "dumb" songs on the record as long as there are those that are deeper in regards of meaning. It's all about the balance. And she pulled it off amazingly good. There is literally not a song that I dislike, let alone hate. It's a really fun journey and when you compare her efforts with those of her contemporaries, you really realize how blessed we are for stanning for such a brilliant and creative mind. Not necessarily pushing boundaries with everything single thing she does, but every second of this entire era is FUN and entertaining. And that's what she is - an entertainer. Also, complaints about the changes in MANiCURE and Sexxx Dreams - I love them. Nobody can say she RUINED a song. She did exactly what she wanted with it. If it hadn't been for the SwineFest nobody would have been so condescending towards the studio versions and would eat them up, no questions asked. So if you prefer the SwineFest version - go listen to it instead. Sorry for a long rant, but that's how I feel about the entire ARTPOP experience. And it definitely topped TFM for me because it's way more diverse but yet cohesive at the same time. It's just so fresh for her and her sound Yeah, sorry for this essay . scheibe97 0
I don't understand why we have to praise every single thing GaGa does. If I think she ruined some songs leave me be and allow me to think that don't tell people who like the Swinefest versions to just listen to them and hush up because it just makes you sound ignorant and close minded towards anyone who thinks that those songs aren't as good as the Swinfest versions. No, don't get me wrong - I am not saying you're not entitled to have your personal opinion. What I am saying is that the changes are so subtle that they hardly make any difference. The songs are pretty reminiscent to the SwineFest versions in essence. And I'm not PRAISING everything she does, what I'm trying to convey here is that some songs are slightly underwhelming in comparison to some other songs, but that doesn't mean they suck. Even the worst track on the album is pretty decent. Of course, my opinion
Nissa 51
I agree with everything you said (though think it's a tad more artistic than entertainer-like)! Spill that tea! The OP also has the right to their own opinion, which you're now trying to shut down. By your logic, you're only close-minded if you don't have the exact opinion you have. Pierre 10,480
I agree about Fashion! and J&D and everything. ❝Is not blue, not turquoise, not lapis. It's actually cerulean❞.

We're entitled to giving constructive criticism and pointing out things we feel could have been better. What you fail to see is that it's HER VISION. If something is the way it is - it's strictly because SHE wanted it to be that way. Everyone has a right to an opinion but saying that something was done BADLY when you have no experience in creating music (sorry if you do) is just plain ignorant. She creates the music, she is the artist. You're either here for it or not. If she were to listen to her fans about their special wishes then we would have 4674782893729 versions of ARTPOP for each and every one of us. First of all, I know it's her vision, but I'm still allowed to believe something could and should have been different. I can still be "here for it" even though I think some things could have been changed for the better.

I just don't see the incessant need to go and bash something over and over again. And you have to admit that people tend to do that here more than often. :)
