Popjustice reviews Venus

It seems like some of you are only trying to base your thoughts on whether it would do good on radio or not. There's a lot more to music than that. For it to be her first song she's produced solely by herself, it's commendable.

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~

But the charting :noparty:

Oh well. The song is still good and I just keep on jammin' :music:

I don't think it deserved a 4. I personally love it more than DWUW. She worked so hard to produce this song herself and she's proud of it. IM proud that she even attempted to do this and release it. its fantastic. Seriously what other pop star right now would do that?  This is why she's my fave  :whitney:

This. Sad that fans base their opinions on charts which is a bit embarrasing.

Even though Venus is a bop,I agree. It sounds like an unfinished demo and the transitions just kill the song

At least it shows Gaga is trying to do something totally different and go against the grain. This song sounds like absolutely nothing on the radio. I guess that could be a bad thing, but personally I don't want Gaga to make hits just to sell. I want her to make music she's passionate about and really gets her excited. I think that's what makes this song so good to me she just sounds so happy singing it and it's clearly something she's very proud of. Is it her BEST song? Maybe not, but at least she put it all out there in front of us and the rest of the world, and that's really all we can ask of her.

I love this song to bits. Many people outside the fan base I've shown the song to love it too. It's catchy and it is an ear worm but again it's very experimental.

I hate comparisons but instead of saying it sounds dated and blah blah, we should look at what Katy did vs. Daft Punk releasing RAM. Daft Punk incorporated music from the past to move forward, whereas Katy repeats it with Prism.

That's harsh, but there are some loyal Gaga fans that do not care for it at all, so this review doesn't surprise me (I don't agree w/ The Fame demos comparison though).

This song is insane and it's Gaga's first time producing, and I like that she went out of the box, but lbr, Venus isn't going to connect with everyone. This is the type of song that would have pushed her career from mainstream to niche.

Its way too harsh, but venus does sound like a demo though, Idk what gaga was thinking. I still dont care, bopping that that flawless campy jam rn.

They are not that wrong...

the production is  messy and simply bad, sorry gagz, and also the whole song sounds unfinished

the song had a huge hit potential, but it needs a better production, I love the melody and the song but I think with a professional production Venus could have been the biggest song of ARTPOP

Agreed.

Kermit the frog

The first verse and the chorus are beyond perfection, production and melody wise. Lyrics are lame and embarrassing, the transitions between verses and pre-choruses are horrible, seems like another song was just randomly thrown in. And I still love it cuz that song is 100% Gaga and I love that b---h. She keeps getting better and better!

4/10? Are they serious? I'm just shocked. Yes, the song is incredibly experimental, and it could potentially be her weirdest song to date. However, apart from some aspects of the production, the melody + the tongue-in-cheek lyrics are very strong for me. Its definitely the new Bad Romance in my book.  :noparty:
