The pair fell out when Kelly accused Gaga's fans of bullying her after receiving death threats from them on Twitter. Gaga retaliated by writing an open letter to Kelly branding her a "hypocrite", saying that Fashion Police, which Kelly co-hosts in the US for E!, "breeds negativity" and makes people feel uncomfortable about their body image. X Factor judge Sharon supported her daughter, writing a letter to Lady Gaga saying: "A word from you would stop all the hideous, negative and vile threats from your 'little monsters'. Let me know if you want to continue this debate." Gaga has now attempted to make amends by having a backstage conversation with Sharon after her X Factor performance and clearing the air between them. She then presented Sharon with a birthday cake for Kelly and the pair held hands and posed for photos together. After her performance of 'Venus/Do What U Want', Gaga said that everything is now fine between them before hugging Sharon and calling her a "goddess". She also revealed that they hung out together at G-A-Y the previous night, when Gaga performed her new single.
