People who listen to Urban or Rhythmic radio aren't going to buy an album because of 1 or 2 songs they like if it's by a Pop artist, look at how much Pour It Up 'helped' Rihanna. I think Venus is sonically much more intense, but it definitely wouldn't be well-received by the GP because the lyrics are just so ridiculous. It's not like she's Aqua or something like that. DWUW is extremely commercial, and kinda easier for people to relate to (in a double entendre kind of way). It's a very safe choice. Do I think it's a great song? No. But it makes sense. If you're gonna compare her to Rihanna, you should compare DWUW to Stay, which helped keep Unapologetic float for more than 3 months. It's not the fact that DWUW will get high airplay on rhythmic and urban that will help it sell albums, it's the fact that it's the pop ballad that generally tends to sell more albums than the average pop-dance single. JGMAR is another example. Actually, JGMAR and Stay are perfect examples because they were both duets, both midtemp/ballds, and both had big choruses, just like DWUW. And Gaga's emotional vocals makes It actually sound kinda "hurtful" like It's a ballad but obviously It's not but the comparison with JGMAR and Stay is actually a good one ... yes they were ballads but the only difference Is that DWUW Is R&B and Electro Influenced, If It was pure pop It'd probably be a midtempo like Diamonds which also sells albums ... I love VENUS tho .. so IDK ... I think DWUW will slay and not only In the USA.. I can't believe people actually think that Europe can be slayed only by Electronic/Dance/POP some of the biggest hits are Mid - tempos / ballads !
