Teletubby 141,499
Roan says musicians are trained to be obedient. Standing up for yourself is portrayed as whining or ingratitude, and rejecting convention comes at a cost. "I think, actually, I'd be more successful if I was OK wearing a muzzle. If I were to override more of my basic instincts, where my heart is going, 'Stop, stop, stop, you're not OK', I would be bigger. "I would be way bigger... And I would still be on tour right now." Indeed, Roan rejected the pressure of extending her 2024 tour to protect her physical and mental health. She credits that resolve to her late grandfather. "There's something he said that I think about in every move I make with my career. There are always options." "So when someone says, 'Do this concert because you'll never get offered that much money ever again', it's like, who cares? "If I don't feel like doing this right now, there are always options. There is not a scarcity of opportunity. I think about that all the time." "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy 10 1 1 1

Ceres 3,212
Thats your job. You are now a pop star, you have to put in the work and hustle to ensure you get what you need to carry your career over a couple decades of relevance. Id rather her make news over her music instead of complaining about the what-ifs, her career literally just started. ✧ ✧ ✧

Red 97,074
Honestly if she literally wore a muzzle as her gimmick like when Sia did not show her face it would be such an iconic and cvnt move If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.
lastpopicon 10,853
i love the diva behaviour some people forgot how gaga was in her early career, just gonna say that Let's not transform into Madges The melody that you choose can rescue you
Head Empty 24,631
She's very defensive about her boundaries and people think that's a bad thing. We're so used to celebrities who just smile and wave while they're obviously dying inside, and I applaud Chappell for not following in those footsteps. Yes, she might occasionally go overboard, but let's not forget that she has to figure it out as she goes – while also managing her own mental struggles. And everything came at breakneck pace. Cut her some slack when she fumbles, because there are tons of things that she's doing very right. Happiness will never last, darkness comes to kick your ass... ᵃˢˢ 🕺
IWantYourLove 1,309
It was obvious that she was fully self aware of what was happening when she spoke up about things. And honestly it’s boring seeing all celebrities being the same kind of person. Gaga was never like this exactly, but she was herself, and that’s one of the reasons I was drawn to her. The same with Chappell. I’m fed up of women feeling like they have to change who they are to be liked more or more successful. Not even in an ‘angry feminist’ way, more in a ‘tired of witnessing it every day bc it feels inauthentic’ way. I’m glad she says what she wants. Obviously a diehard feminist lol, but the fact she’s a woman is irrelevant here. If she were a young man and yelled at a photographer for being pushy trying to tell him what to do, I’d have the same reaction. I like it when celebrities have personality. Fed up of this super polite, subtle, gentle, neutral personality. It feels inauthentic.

She can choose to play in small clubs or not perform at all and work in an office if she wants. That said, it’s not sounding like this is the industry for her. Hydrangea 6,109
Some people believe that once someone becomes famous they deserve this kind of unfettered access and that they’re owed certain things. Her being fully herself and respecting her boundaries is refreshing. let’s not forget gaga’s early career to where she is now with fan interactions. There’s nothing wrong with putting your needs first over the wants of a bunch of crazy stans. Put your paws all over me
KevinWright 1,589
That would be weird not iconic Pop stars doing “extreme” things are not a trend anymore.

Questioning what’s considered « normal » in the entertainment industry isn’t a bad thing tbh. We’d still be in the pre-Me Too era if no one had had the courage to stand up.
