Catalystluna56 2
Anyone else starting to feel like Applause has proved itself? I feel like I need to stop obsessing over the charts now; Applause has proven to us that it is in no way, shape, or form a flop. Heck, it's even a "hit". Maybe not a smasher, but still definitely a hit. I think we should all be satisfied with how it has and continues to perform. Let's enjoy these last two days of not having to worry about charts before AURA comes and makes up freak out again. Deal?
bumblebee 2,528
They added more stations. I saw on atrl that basically every song that charted in that week on the radio chart had an update of more than 20 m AI. If you really want to make those comparasions use Nielsen numbers or update the ones from Mediabase, because comparing that AI peak of Just dance / Telephone / Bad romance / Paparazzi with Applause is like comparing the digital sales that a no 1 had on 2005 with the digital sales that a no 1 had in 2009. Or we can simply remember that they added more radio stations. You see, people are talking about the absolute numbers, like AI, and you are clinging to the (AI / quantity of radio stations), which is a relative measure. The game since 2009 has obviously changed, but it's not that different as you tried to present in the comparison of 2005 and 2009 number ones. The idea that we should take 20% off the APPLAUSE AI is a pure speculation at this point, unless we get a more precise info about the number of stations which are now added. Cupid 760
Drake dark red and Gaga storming with pretty a pretty big ratio increase tbh
Americano 31,061
I think Applause has proven itself but only in the US. It did very well in countries like Japan/Germany/Italy/Spain/Canada etc.. It did bad in like Aust but what can you do. That's just how singles work, can't be a hit everywhere
craig 680
Miley does SNL, Roar still has a bigger lead on Wreck than 26 hours ago. :haha: Applause greater success in US reflects the UScentric power of the VMAs and the KIA commercial.

Americano 31,061
Unless you're Poker Face,Paparazzi,Bad Romance,Telephone,Alejandro,Born This Way and The Edge of Glory BTW died in countries like France and TEOG flopped in Scandinavia, in Norway/Sweden/etc. it's peaks are deceiving from its fan driven first week. GagaMyBlood95 9,915
Applause did bad in Australia which really doesn't make sense to me because she was always big there but it is what it is... On the other hand, it did quite nice in other countries...
Harry 26,836
Applause did OKAY worldwide but that's about it... But then again she hardly made the effort to promote it. Which is weird for a lead single.
