Magoo 6 Posted October 6, 2013 Share Posted October 6, 2013 Analysing the 'Dark Horse incident' from last Tuesday, the approx sales per day of this track in proportion to the itunes figures were as follows: Sun 14.3K. 14.4K, 25.2K, 17.1K, 14.5K, 12.9K, 11.6K Sat I would estimate the normal underlying sales of the track were as follows: Sun 14.3K. 14.4K, 14.1K, 13.7K, 13.3K, 12.9K, 11.6K Sat Subtracting these off the first set isolates out the incidental sales as Sun 0K. 0K, 11.1K, 3.4K, 1.2K, 0K, 0K Sat The expected depletion of the itunes bars (if sales stop) is typically such that 1/3 remains after each subsequent day and that is what is seen here The additional sales of Dark Horse due to the incident were then 11.1K + 3.4K + 1.2K = 15.7K If that is related to the sudden availability of DH resulting from those with Prism preorders, that is the number of Prism pre-orders affected. Were all Prism preorders affected - I don't know? When Gaga releases a promo single (Aura?) will we see the same surge? - if so that will tell us the number of ARTPOP preorders. I understand that the audience today on Mediabase in 20% higher than before they changed the formula ( that Nielsen didnt change). If that is true, Applause is still behind Just dance and Paparazzi and probably other songs. Im happy for Applause, but I dont think that its nice for the other songs.
