Isn't Justin Bieber releasing a song every week for the next 10 weeks though?

The top 10 will be all JB songs

No way, without being released to radio, having music videos etc, they'll all cannibalize each other and the vast majority of them will start freefalling within a few days of their release.

How is releasing 10 songs over 10 weeks more profitable than just releasing an album? I don't get it...

He said all his songs would be released digitally?

He might do something with the app and put songs there

His last album only sold like 2M WW but generated 3 multiplatinum singles in the US, so maybe it has something to do with that.

If there is any app.

But I think it will be something else because releasing one song every monday for 10 weeks is messy

There's a huge possibility that with this JB single and Miley's album release this week, Applause will be bumped out of the top 10. Brace yourselves, but this was going to happen eventually. Just sad that it'll be because of that absurd fox song.

Still, it seems like an album purchase would generate more money than 10 singles, which will probably dwindle in sales as the weeks go by.

If it stays in the Top 10 until Tuesday, it'll beat out BTW, right?

Yeah, but I was personally hoping for it to beat TEOG.

Perhaps they're doing it for the Billboard receipts. Having 10 pretty much guaranteed top 40 entries and perhaps a few top 10s in the span of a few months will be great things to add to his resume, especially since he's increasingly being seen as having been overtaken by 1D along with the fact that his public perceptions falls to new lows every week.

Eh, you've seen how 1D do after a few days.

Since there'll be one song every week, there won't be ONE song that radio will pick up, and without radio support, your single can't really do much on iTunes unless you release a video, and I highly doubt he'll release a video for every 10 of those songs.

How many weeks is TEOG?

Nevermind, 57. So if it can stay top 10 until Wednesday, it'll beat out TEOG. If Miley album songs can stay away from the Top 10, it's possible. But even if they don't, Applause could leave temporarily and then return when the Miley songs drop and still beat TEOG.

BTW was top 10 for 55 days, while TEOG was 57 days, right?

The good news is that since Applause's airplay is large enough, it should make top 10 again once new releases fade away... only to be threatened again by Katy's release and those other JB singles.

Edit: right^

Overrating Miley

Idk about that. WCS is sitting pretty right outside the top 10. Underestimating Miley is not something I thought we'd be doing by now.
